Congratulations on your promotion. I’m watching all of your videos! You’ve helped me so much. I’m moving to West Palm Beach, FL and I’m looking to work as a legal assistant at one of the firms. I currently work in global mobility (drafting employment NIV and IV petitions) so I’m really trying to get my foot in the door down there! Your videos bring me so much comfort because you’re extremely organised, down to earth, and realistic. Thanks again 🩷 I aspire to be like you when I move down there.

Hi, would you mind sharing what type of law you work in? Also, are your duties similar to what an intake specialist does? I work in healthcare litigation and I’ve been doing OT nearly everyday since I began working with one of the partners. It seems nearly impossible to leave on time. It’s not a matter of having a rhythm, but more about the attorneys giving work so late in the day and needing it done before I leave. Is that something you’re currently experiencing?

I work in employment law. There are some similarities, but at our law firm intake specialists are on back to back calls to screen potential clients where as onboarding specialists work with clients and attorneys more extensively to gather all the necessary documentation to prep the demand letter and help build the case during the pre litigation stage (what we refer to as the "onboarding process"). I can definitely relate to attorneys giving work late haha. It's not an everyday occurrence, but when it doest happen I usually ask if it's something that's urgent or if it can wait until tomorrow morning. If I have the time though, I don't mind staying overtime or if it's something small, but in the cases where I actually have something after work I ask for clarification on the priority level of the task and that's helped me manage my workload/ manage work stress. Of course every week is different and each law firm is also different in terms of expectations and how they operate so something to also keep in mind as well 🙂
