I'm new on this channel but love this genre/style. From the interesting history bits to the length of the video. Perfect. I'll definitely be back ..

Nice piece about three great, historic establishments, but my previous digging into this topic told me that the oldest continuously operating bar in NYC was none of the above; it was the Bridge Cafe on Water St. Sadly, that place was damaged in Hurricane Sandy and has been closed since 2017.

    Hello-
if this video is about the oldest bar/tavern in NYC I'm surprised he didn't mention the Bridge Cafe which opened in 1794 making
it the oldest. the current Fraunces Tavern is a reconstruction built during the WPA program.

That's an interesting look at these three historic bars. The woman representing Fraunces Tavern Museum is a real beauty.

The Brazen Head, Dublin's oldest pub since 1198.🍺

Easy answer: Queens county became part of the NYC in 1898. So McSorley’s got an easy win.

      Fair enough...it's a good bar. However, I'm a Pete's Tavern guy myself....

McSorley’s has a charm to it, and it literally feels like you’ve stepped into a time machine when going in. Fraunces is nice, though it does have a bit of a sanitized feel to it, being marketed to the tourist market as strongly as it is. Prices aren’t horrible for Manhattan, though it is still sorta on the pricey side. I’ve never been to the Neir’s, or whatever it’s called, though I have seen it in the news recently, as the building is owned by a slum landlord who wants to boot them out by way of exorbitantly jacking the rent up, presumably to sell the place to property “investors” who want to develop it into overpriced apartments that will barely hit half-capacity, if at all.

Hey I spotted a Mandela Effect with May West.
I remember "why don't you come up and see me sometime".
But according to this video, it was actually "why don't you come up sometime and see me".
    wooooooo. Mandela effect...

There's virtually NOTHING left (one wall) of the original Frauncis Tavern.

Mcsorley's is alot better only because they have two beers and more history that other place you have too decide what you want let alone it has no history

Beer is disappointingly bland. Not cask as they claim but keg and brewed by Pabst suds inc.
