I saw this movie many years ago and I was confused (small cinema lover brain back then) but I saw it again 1 year ago and it's officialy in my top 10 movies. So glad you rewarched it and loved it Thomas. Now I want to share this movie with my girlfriend.
To understand this film, and the significance of this film for Brad Pitt, requires an understanding of the US Civil War, and the state of Missouri. Brad Pitt grew up in Missouri, and Jesse James, for good and evil, is a Missouri icon. The tensions of civil war and westward expansion are at their peak in post bellum (occupied) Missouri. If you know US History, and possess a familiarity with Missouri, you are ready to enjoy this film. It is a beautiful, complex, and fundamental American film. I'm glad you guys gave it a second chance.
Jesus for films buffs who have a show or whatever ya'll don't pay attention to the film. Let several things go but when you both don't seem to have any idea what entire scenes were about (like an entire scene where Jesse not only tells but shows us why he killed Ed) I can't take any of your views on said scene or film serious. Maybe get off your phones and actually watch the films you're gonna talk about

Glad you both enjoyed the film on your second watching. This film has been one of my favorites since I first watched it.
The film is a beautiful poem.
I own the paperback and audiobook for the source novel as well as the film on DVD and streaming. For me, each is a masterpiece.
