These lamps are quite popular, they have them everywhere. I bought a small one over a year ago & I change it out seasonally putting different things in it. Summer I fill it with sea shells. Love these lamps. Christmas will be tiny ornaments, pine branches & pine cones.
Is your lamp on the larger side? The one I had was a difficult size to work with (turns out). I can imagine it being quite fun changing the lamp for seasons.
You might could make it slightly easier by making a paper cone to fit the interior so that you can place the choice shells against the glass then just quickly fill the inner section with the plainer shells. Then all you have to do is slowly pull out the paper cone. In theory at least. Nice look!
Breathofhome, you had a great idea ! Like you said, in theory and that definitely sounds like it is worth a try. Trial and error is how we learn some things. Have a good day !
The darn opening was so small it just really make working with a smaller lamp difficult. I can visualize what you mean though. I wonder if that would have worked 🤔
I bought 2 large ginger jar lamps and filled them with large beautiful shellsI collected from around Marco Island. I put a clear plastic bottle down the middle of each lamp then used my colourful shells on the outside. Have been in my family room for quite a while now. Still love them.❤️
I love your brand new seashell lamp 🪔 I didn’t realize that you make a lamp out of shells that’s super cool 😎 I like your new video really enjoy it. Anyway I can’t wait to see your next seashell video very soon. Have a great day. 😊
Super cute. Years ago I taught sea shell crafts in Naples. Did mirrors, frames, lamps. All kinds of stuff. I would take a group to the beaches and we would collect, clean and then make things. So much fun.
Great idea with the box, the lamp turned out great, I have 2 large ones I have taken apart also and used the base to fill how I wanted, I love them, thanks for sharing!!
Very cute! If you can’t find something at a thrift store, Amazon sells the clear glass fillable lamp bases. Lots of different styles. I would love to do something like this. Great idea!
I’m happy to find you crafting and recrafting things. The brown wood base can transition through the brown shells to a beige and cream lampshade with a tassel of micro shells. I look forward to Sunday!
I've got a lamp to fill. It's shaped like a seashell😊 my sister and our cousin from NC love shelling. We are going to try to make a weekend trip to so west Florida this winter!!!
Something I just remembered I used to do with shells, to make the vibrant colors stay that way after cleaning - I remember either rubbing them with mineral oil, (which I realize doesn't last forever) but it really made the colors pop! But there was another way - spray them with an acrylic or lacquer clear coat to keep them beautiful as they can be! Especially the scallops seem to get a "hard water" coating after cleaning. They look great wet, but then dry dull. Try something like this to keep the colors as pretty as they can be! It might make a difference in sales for you! I don't know if you do something like this now - just a suggestion in case you don't.
I appreciate you leaving such a fabulous idea! I like to strip that coating off with acid, however if I'm going to do a craft or something (I just found something I want to make with calico scallops) perhaps I'll give a spray lacquer a try.
Very nice!!! I know about OCD......& a perfectionist. You made it look so easy! I have a larger lamp simular to it and was going to full it 20 years ago, but nothing looked like what I thought it was going to look like. I guess I will try again!!!! Thank you my dear. Hugs
After I made this I thought I also could have filled this with tiny shells. It would have been my entire collection, but smaller shells might have worked too. Good luck if you decide to take another try at your lamp!
Your lamp is very nice! Someone gave me a glass based lamp about the size of yours but it didn't open up so I could put shells inside. So I decided to glue the shells to the outside of the glass. I decided to use kitten paws because I had an abundance of them. It turned out really great. I actually sold it for $60 on Facebook marketplace! I wish I could send you a picture of it. I really enjoy your shell videos! Thank you.
Nice job. I have a very tall antique glass jar. Thought of an idea that I didn't have to use so many sea shells. Put the inside roll of a paper towel in the middle.
Finally got to watch this. I was wondering how the lamp was put together. Some are made exactly for doing this and others you have to be creative in order to fill them. Saw the price on it too!😂 Paul's a thriftier too it looks like. That was a great deal! ❤❤
Nice lamp and good suggestion about using the same type of shell throughout the lamp. I made one this summer filling it with lots of different shells but once I turned it right side up they shifted and left about a two inch gap at the top. New summer I will try filling it with all the lettered olives or chestnut turbines I found on my trips this summer to to Fort Myers and Honeymoon Island.
Hi Sharmon, That lamp is gorgeous! 😍 It really made me think of remodel one of my own lamps. I bought it 25 years ago with potpourri in it. I need to see if I can get that out and put shells in it. Thank you so much for the inspiration! Have a wonderful week! Big hug and lots of love, xoxo ❤️, Ilona
Oh my goodness this is absolutely gorgeous my beachy friend!! Sending mermaid hugs from the southeast Kentucky mountains. I have on,y heard one other name similar to yours and it’s my aunt Charmia, not pronounced almost like how you pronounce yours but pronounced like Charm ah. I’ve never heard anyone else have the name Charmia or even close to it and now I know someone ❤ Miss chatting with you friend.
Hi beautiful! I hope you and yours in the KY mountains are doing okay. I know weather can create some havoc! I love the name Charmia! Actually, since I have an un usual name I like unusual names! I actually met another Sharmon once. It was spelled the same way and everything. She acted like it happened every day! I was excited to meet another Sharmon - her not so much 🤣
Kind of your husband to get you the lamp. I like the Chestnut Turbans myself. Wonder if there are clear glass lamps that you can fill with shells instead of removing the shells from an existing lamp.
Why do shells expire. ? What causes us to have all the beautiful little treasures on the beach? Also made it to little hickory island parked at lot 20 and walked north. Oh my it was stunning. I don’t know why but I felt like the Floridian fighter were outstanding there. Do you know how to access big hickory island beach ? Thanks for sharing your love
You need a boat to get to Big Hickory, unless the tide is crazy low and you might be able to walk there from Little Hickory. I was there once with my kayak. I like Lovers Key better!
I've never found a cone shell before I have found maybe one or two small miracles a bunch of Calico scallops and some olives and shark eyes they were all the letter olives
How far north would you say you could go and still find good shells? We are near Panama City for the next few weeks and would love to go shelling but it’s no good around here.
Beautiful! I say yes to more videos of what to make with our shells!! 🤭🥰

That turned out great! I’ve always wanted to do that with some of massive collection shells! Thanks for showing us how you did it!
Those sea shell lamps were quite the craze back in the 80’s. Big ginger jars
Very lovely! Good for Hubby! I agree, more shellcraft videos, please!
Great job Sharmon! Yes! to more shell crafting! Hugs from Va!
Thanks for showing us this! The lamp is beautiful.
Love getting surprise videos from you!
I like the lamp idea using the shells in it. Turned out great! 🐚🌊
Thank you so much!
This was great, I’ve been wanting to see what you do with your shells. Hope you do more.
Next is another shell mirror!
I bought 2 large ginger jar lamps and filled them with large beautiful shellsI collected from around Marco Island. I put a clear plastic bottle down the middle of each lamp then used my colourful shells on the outside. Have been in my family room for quite a while now. Still love them.❤️
What a fabulous idea!
Very nice. Veery well trained husband. Stay safe xx
He comes in handy sometimes 🤣

Very pretty! I made one with Florida fighting conchs. Love it!
The lamp came out great ! I like your other containers displaying some of your collection.
Thanks so much! 😊
Super cute. Years ago I taught sea shell crafts in Naples. Did mirrors, frames, lamps. All kinds of stuff. I would take a group to the beaches and we would collect, clean and then make things. So much fun.
That sounds SO fun! I just saw a cute idea to make little turtles yesterday.
Great idea with the box, the lamp turned out great, I have 2 large ones I have taken apart also and used the base to fill how I wanted, I love them, thanks for sharing!!
That is beautiful Sharmon! Thanks for sharing your creation!
Thank you very much!
Good going, Sharmon! I like it!
Thank you for this fantastic idea. Can’t wait to try this
Your lamp is lovely Sharmon, I have one similar that I changed the shells in also. Thanks!
Looks great 👍🏻 good choice for the shells!
Very cute! If you can’t find something at a thrift store, Amazon sells the clear glass fillable lamp bases. Lots of different styles. I would love to do something like this. Great idea!
I just checked Amazon and those lamps look like they would be much easier to work with. Thanks for leaving that fabulous idea!
Chestnut turbans are awesome!!
I’m happy to find you crafting and recrafting things.
The brown wood base can transition through the brown shells to a beige and cream lampshade with a tassel of micro shells.
I look forward to Sunday!
The right shade would make it look so much better!
I've got a lamp to fill. It's shaped like a seashell😊 my sister and our cousin from NC love shelling. We are going to try to make a weekend trip to so west Florida this winter!!!
Your lamp sounds awesome! I hope you go get to come and you find enough souvenirs to fill your lamp and some!

So creative! Love the lamp and your reasoning about shell choice AND your platform for filling the lamp. Amazing!
LOL! My recycling skills were put to the test!

What a fabulous idea! Now I don't feel bad then about wanting to glue shells to the glass of a photo frame. 😃
Love it! I have a couple of old lamps that I’ve been meaning to fill with mixed shells, but I really like the mono-shell look.
I think I also probably could have filled it with tiny shells, but the turbans hit the spot too!
Thanks for sharing, the lamp turned out great!!
Thank you! 😊
Its an absolutely lovely lamp!
Nice little video! Really enjoyed it!🐚

Brilliant!
Wow, that looks amazing!! ❤
Soooo talented 😃😃😃😃 your shell collection is something I am so envious of 😉😉
Thank you so much 😀

Make sure you take a good look at that base. It seems to be the key to being able to get those shells positioned just right. Good luck!! ❤️
Fantastic work.
Thank you so much!!
Gorgeous!!!! 🎉❤😊
Thank you!! 😊
I will check your Etsy Shop !! Thank You 🙏
I just bought a driftwood Christmas tree on marketplace. I used a starfish on the top of the tree and I am going to string shells as decorations.
That sounds so pretty! I wish we had more driftwood here.
I wish we had more shells

Darn it! It must’ve sold out! But I did manage to find something else in your Etsy shop to purchase anyway! 😃
LOL - thank you!!!
Absolutely beautiful! I love your crafty ideas!!!
Thank you so much!
❤beautiful as always. Interesting, need to do this
It looks great!
Thank you!!
Cool lamp 🤩🤩🤩💖💖
Thank you! 💜
Beautiful a! 😊😊😊
Kind of your husband to get you the lamp. I like the Chestnut Turbans myself. Wonder if there are clear glass lamps that you can fill with shells instead of removing the shells from an existing lamp.
That's a good question. I know there are mirror "blanks" for shell mirrors but I do not know about lamps.
Very Shelligant ! :)
Thank you!!
Fabulous ❤❤❤

Beautiful 🐚🩷
Thank you! 😊
I've never found a cone shell before I have found maybe one or two small miracles a bunch of Calico scallops and some olives and shark eyes they were all the letter olives
You're right it definitely needs a new shade for sure. The one that's on it is too big for the lamp.
And that lamp shade not that appealing with the shells. Hopefully the new owner will find something much better 😃
How far north would you say you could go and still find good shells? We are near Panama City for the next few weeks and would love to go shelling but it’s no good around here.
I do not know that area at all! The furthest North I've been was Honeymoon Island - which I will show this Sunday at 7pm.
Hi, Panama City Beach is not the greatest place for shells. I did have luck, however, on Navarre Beach, which is about a 2 hour drive from PCB.
@@chrisoverton4178 Destin and Navarre are on my list if I ever make it up that way!
Much better
Nice lamp. But I want to see the kittens!
LOL! They were in there! I had to cut them out when they were walking around when I was filling the jar.
Do you have a seashell Christmas tree?
Yes I do!
Yeah, it’s not like you don’t have any of your own shells. LOL. OOh, chestnut turbans is a great idea.
😃
I took a seashell lamp apart for the shells, but it’s because I live in Illinois. I wanted all the treasures inside.
LOL! I have 2 GORGEOUS shell lamps that the owner of my current house left me. I am so lucky I ended up being gaga for shells!
I love it!! I checked out your store and, no offense, it looks quit expensive.
You'd be surprised at how much those Etsy fees are. At least the shipping was free 😃
@@SWFBeachLifeFew😄 I understand.
Where did hubby find the lamp?
he found it at a thrift store. We have dozens of fabulous ones in our area.
