That's great Jerry, nice work. Yeah finishing is the longest and most daunting part I find - when you're making a mess everything's great, then you have to clean it up... The luthier who actually enjoys sanding must be the happiest man in the world!
Well this was outstanding Jerry, and you saved me a lot of time and trouble, I will never build a 12 string. You did a wonderful job, you should be very proud of the work you do
Amazing! Thanks for putting all the hours & hours in making the 12 string! It was fascinating to see how you always overcome problems and obstacles in your way! You ARE the MAN!
It sounds like sandpaper when you go over the service. Indeed, you need paper that cuts through it and building layer after layer. Then in the end polish and you have a museum piece ✨️ 😊. I love your video's by the way. I loved this story. What a guitar can do in a man's life 👏 💙
That guitar looks great and sounds fantastic! I can tell by the smile on your face that you're pleased too! I'm looking forward to the song, hearing Emeri sing is always a special treat.
What an enjoyable series, watching the 12 string come to life. I am amazed at the sustain. I wish my old Epiphone was half as good. Thank you for the content and the hard work. I am excited to see and hear Emeri play it.
Sounds and looks amazing. You should ship it to me and I'll break it in over the next few decades.....when the Scottish fellow wants it I'll most likely send it to him. Plus you won't have it taking up room in your shop. Everyone wins.
Thanks so much for making these videos. This 12 string series has been a wonderful learning experience! Enjoyed every minute. Greetings from Amsterdam.
Love 12 strings and they are all I ever play anymore...love your custom Dreadnought Jerry! Not the instrument for someone like you with arthritic hands though.
some folks apply to much pressure while sanding and not sense the sand paper cutting .. it takes some practice to sense the paper cutting doing it's job .. that's why when they sand with their fingers actually cuts a finger sand grove .. you must be applying just the right pressure with your fingers ... it's all about letting the tools do what they are supposed to do ... it's skill and awareness true craftsman learn over the years ... great job !
I have really enjoyed watching this build from Melbourne Australia Jerry, Thank you, the guitar looks and sound amazing, I can only imagine how good it sound in real life.
Jerry, I think that is the best sounding 12-string I have ever heard. it is also one of the best looking guitars I have seen. Absolutely beautiful in every way. Thanks for sharing it with us.
What a beautiful result - worth all the workwhich defines the instrument. A big shout out to the players/singer of the music throughout - esp mandolin, banjo slide gtr and singers. Great writing also :-)
Mr Jerry Rosa has been sanding all day Applying oil finish and then removing the same away Filling up the holes toothpick and all Removing leopard spots having a ball Getting near the end of that 12 string wood Its looking good and you know it should Jerry needs a break his hands are sore That delicate finish job shook him to the core sorry people this is that last 12 string, there will be no more. (anyway that's what he said) The Finish poem dedicated to master Luthier Jerry Rosa.
Superb sounding 12, Jerry - one of the very best that I've ever heard in all my 58 years of loving and playing 12's. Your guitar has a perfect balance from bass across to treble with plenty of traditional jangle but without any harsh overtones. It's very rare to find a 12 built to such exceptional standards which still has that almost 'raw' musicality of a 12 which just begs to be strummed AND used for playing instrumentally. It will sound just as good when played quietly and with subtlety and also when strummed vigorously. I'd bet it is also well-suited to fingerstyle - and that is not always easy on a 12. My love of 12's began in 1963 after hearing the Rooftop Singers 'Walk right in' (1962) and then finding an LP of 12 string instrumentals in a music store in Birmingham (UK) in 1963. It was by Billy Strange who became and has remained one of my all-time 12 string heroes. He died not too long ago, but his music often rings out in my home. He would have LOVED your guitar, Jerry . . . an absolute, instant, one-of-a-kind classic. During those 58 years I have owned and played many 12's and, with one exception, always kept them tuned one whole tone below standard. If folks don't know Billy Strange and his 12 string - this is the LP I found back in '63 . . . ua-cam.com/video/dM7arCdXsKY/v-deo.html Of course, Glen Campbell was a top session man and was well known for playing a 12 . . . ua-cam.com/video/mFp7L2Bb35g/v-deo.html If you're a real fan of 12's, this CD is superb. Hello Jerry. This one is a master piece for sure !! This paduck wood is natural amazing red, that is very rare. It sound so good !!! Bravo c,est vraiment une très belle guitare. H i from Normandy France. Antoine
That is everything I knew it would be....WOW What a great 12 string guitar, and what a great sound..... I just love it Jerry..God Bless ya all at the Rosa String Works
What an absolutely stunning guitar, sounds amazing and will only open up and sound better and better, what a task for you though Jerry, i said it before, you have the patience of a saint and your quality of work and attention to detail is staggering, thank you so much for sharing your amazing work, and letting everyone come along for the journey, watching a true luthier at work. As always. Peace and Love from Bonny Scotland. Andy.
When I have applied Tru Oil to two of my builds, I use foam wedge makeup applicators you can get by the bag full at the drugstore. They make a smooth thin coat and can be disposed of after each use.
Watch your videos with great interest and learn much from them. Another hobby is hotrods. For automotive paint, there is an additive for fisheyes. Wondering if that might help you in getting the coverage you need with your oil varnish finishes.
Your absolutely right about sanding with the small sandpaper squares. If your trying to level a large rough surface, then absolutely use a sanding block. What your doing is very fine sanding that benifits greatly from precision sanding with your fingertips. There is no device better designed and more capable than your fingertips and your brain. It takes some practice to get the "feel" for it, but once you realize the control and precision of the technique you use, it really is the best process.
Really enjoyed this series, Jerry, and the look of satisfaction on your face while playing it was icing on the cake. Your diligence and attention to detail really payed off in a beautiful and unique instrument whose tone and volume is quite incredible. Big thumbs up from me.
Wow,that is a real beautiful guitar.the sound is simply perfect.i could tell it has quite a bit of volume as well.every string rings out as clear as a bell.might just be the best sounding 12 string ive ever heard.someone will surely be a happy camper when they set their hands and eyes on that beautiful work of art.i can only wish it was mine.great job youve done on that.i think you should keep it.🙏😊💥🎵🎶🎵🎵
Hi Jerry, I’ve had the exact same problem.. then I discovered never use sandpaper on oil.. the sandpaper leaves debris which is what you’re feeling now. The trick I learned via trial and error was simpler than you might think. 1.) apply/brush (I use foam brushes) Tru-oil filler multiple times to build up the layers. 2.) between each layer, after a 1-2 day cure time, use 0000 steel wool until smooth Lather;rinse;repeat until grain is smooth, or where you like it 3.) finish with final coat Tru-oil using the same above method. Let cure for at least 5 days until all layers are fully cured.. rushing now will make you start all over again.. don’t ask how I know.. 😬 Final buff with wheel or automotive buffer.. I’ve even used semi chrome to touch up spots that won’t buff out. Give it a try on your next project. Let me know how you make out. Good luck!
Absolutely beautiful!!! Amazing. Considering how it it seemed to fight you every step of the way, you certainly out did yourself, in my opinion. Amazing, stunning, beautiful, almost makes me want to get another 12 string. No maybe not, last one I had was 1986, & I "forgot" that one when I left Texas.(last I heard it was in San Antonio.). Jerry you are amazing, or as my granddaughter would say "The awesomest"!!! Beautiful guitar!!! (or did i already say that?)
Another awesome series of videos. Love them Jerry. I'm a big fan of 12 string guitars. Have 3 of them now. If this sale happens to fall thru, keep me in mind. Would love to grab it. Thanks
Great series on the 12 string build, watched every episode! Learned so much about proper guitar building with fantastic tips and tricks that I'll be using on a couple 12 strings that are in dire need of a little work! Lifting bridge(Ovation) and bowed top(Ibanez), yikes! Like you always say, "It is what it is!"Thank you Jerry!
I hope the guy that ordered it is alright. Weird that you can't get ahold of him. If something did happen, surely someone from his family would have access to emails and credit card information and all that. But that is a beautiful guitar.
If you use a finer grit WET sandpaper (400-600) with the tru oil FRESH (not letting it dry), the wet sandpaper makes a sort of paste with the oil that'll fill the grain, naturally, with no color change.
Watching your hands scraping and working are the hands of a true craftsman. I love watching
That's great Jerry, nice work. Yeah finishing is the longest and most daunting part I find - when you're making a mess everything's great, then you have to clean it up... The luthier who actually enjoys sanding must be the happiest man in the world!
Beautiful grain in that top 👍
Well this was outstanding Jerry, and you saved me a lot of time and trouble, I will never build a 12 string. You did a wonderful job, you should be very proud of the work you do
WOW!!! What a sound. What a great Build. Keep it up.

Absolutely beautiful Jerry!!! So sad it's the last hurrah! I'll take her if you can't get ahold of him!!! And I'm of Scottish heritage! 😃
I would love a guitar like that. It is a wonderful thing to behold!
This is my favourite of all your builds that I've watched. Something very special about the sound of a XII string.
Wow, that sounds awesome!!! Looks great, too. Really nice work, Jerry.
Amazing! Thanks for putting all the hours & hours in making the 12 string! It was fascinating to see how you always overcome problems and obstacles in your way! You ARE the MAN!
one of the best sounding 12 strings I ever heard!
Jerry, it's beautiful and the sound is just unbelievable. I am watching and listening on a cell phone I can only imagine the sound in person.
It sounds like sandpaper when you go over the service. Indeed, you need paper that cuts through it and building layer after layer. Then in the end polish and you have a museum piece ✨️ 😊. I love your video's by the way. I loved this story. What a guitar can do in a man's life 👏 💙

Thoroughly enjoyed the build. I would keep checking for updates and the finished product did not disappoint. Thanks for sharing.great job.
I still like using bleached shellac as it's nice and thin and doesn't build up too much.
Beautiful instrument, and great sound as well
I love that 12 string!! Excellent job Doc!!
Beautiful guitar and beautiful work Jerry!
Right there with you on the fillers, Jerry! Whoever comes up with the next good one will be the first!

Thank you that was my band when Emeri and her sister grace were in the band
Makes me happy too.
I think it looks cool seeing the pores. Gives it a unique natural look (probably not a popular opinion).

Hello Gerry - you've done a wonderful job on that guitar. It sounds so much better than my old Hoyer 12 string.
All the best to you.

sounds like a piano, Jerry !
That top spruce looks fantastic. The horizontal striations (whatever they are called) are, really, beautiful.
great saying for a t shirt jerry.... I like my glue to be Molecule Bonded lol😁😁😁
