Well. Right from the beginning I was intrigued. Now I'm still trying to find the model number for/on my Turtle. But I'm also looking online for second hand dishwashing machines...

I wouldn't have rebuilt it either. The compression test was fine and it has low miles. Maybe at most I'd replace the oil pump for piece of mind. Great video

Sara have you ever tried using a real strong oven cleaner on the engine's?

If you're not careful, it will eat anything aluminum very fast, weakening blocks, heads, brackets, etc... oven cleaner is a bad choice. So many better options out there.

I would recommend dry ice blasting for aluminium parts and impulse laser on the block as well.

There’s different types of wire wheels with different metals that don’t destroy everything I know you already know this tho

To clean the aluminum webbing the put a scotch bright pad or ss steel wool and then use the needle gun behind it , will clean it right up , still a bit of work but worth the effort. I have used this a few times to make that old part look new and clean.

If it's running well and has good compression why would you need to rebuild? People get too used to seeing unlimited $$$ car builds

Hi Sarah , 3m makes a little rubber nobbly drill attachment that cleans surfaces more gently than a wire wheel . It's used for wheel and hub faces and leaves them sparkling clean with very little effort . M539 restorations uses them all the time and you can get them on Amazon. Hope this helps .

I use Gunk foamy engine brite and an plastic stiff bristol brush for the thick spots of grime . Saturate , let soak for a half hour .

When I buy aluminum engine parts, or clean up old ones, I paint them Argent Silver. It brightens them up, and seals the pores, so you can just wipe off fuel, oils, and such. The paint thickness is not near enough to slow heat transfer to make any kind of difference.
