Two of THEE greatest vocal-giants of the 21st century. My opinion: Pastor Burrell is an ICONIC, nearly in a class all her own. However... Lady K. Sheard surpassed that particular phase "a MANY uh year ago" and has since crossed over into living-LEGENDARY status.
Kim's voice is unmatched idc what anyone says. Any serious gospel and a lot secular musician's studies Kim because she is one of the few gospel singers that actually treats her voice as an instrument another one that does the same is Twinkie Clark.

Karen has had my soil and spirit since as long as I can remember. I didn't even realize it but she is the sole reason why, as an alto, sopranos are just it for me. I just know I can follow her and she won't lead me astray.

Karen's talent is undeniably special. She's one if the greatest vocalists of our time, her vocal stylings have influenced countless singers-Kim included. But as of late, her arrangements tend to be self indulgent and messy. Kim Burrell, however, puts her dexterity and precision on display every time she sings, and her choices are always pleasing to the ear. Two very different flavors but both equally talented. Great upload!
How can arrangements be self indulgent. Karen thinks Dorinda is the best Clark singer and she has acknowledged that she has to adapt her voice as she getaway older. Also taking into account that the woman is 60 and once survived a coma I personally think that the fact that her range has increased makes her one of the best if not the best singer today. I’ll agree that here and there some of her vocals can tend to be sloppy but she can still SANG. She literally echoes herself, even the complex runs people can’t do.
Yeah it’s more of placing what u do in a particular place that’s astonishing to other vocalist. It’s like how did u hear that embellishment in that place & execute it with timing & accuracy. I love it!!
I love Karen for her versatility! Karen can sing without runs and still sound amazing, but unfortunately kim can’t in my opinion. But I do admit I love them both ❤️

I have literally worked closely with both of them and how they treat people is polar opposite. Who cares about your vocal rifts when you belittle people and treat them like dog poop you accidentally stepped in? I saw Kim do that more than once. So, if she never sings another note, I'm okay with that.
I don't kno Kim personally but i can sense she have a mean prideful spirit cause i have the gift of spirit of decrement and I'm normally 100 right about people.... lol
