+ Miguel Diez. Jackson and Leonard Cohen knew each other in New York at Andy Warhol's club "The Dom" (backwards for mod). Jackson was Nico's 18 year old lover and accompanist and Leonard was her lover " wanna be " while he wrote her poetry to her on paper napkins at the club. Nico finally told Leonard that he was too old for her and that she only liked young boys. Jackson later wrote a song for her titled "The Birds of Saint Marks" in which she is depicted as a prisoner in a castle isolated and alone (maybe by Andy Warhol). Jackson is so well suited for this song, "A Thousand Kisses Deep" because of his beginnings in the world of music. He was strictly a song writer with no natural born singing skills like a James Taylor, just as an example. He had limited range in his voice, and has been described , back then, as having limited melodic range, which by the reviewer was considered an asset because of the structure of his songs. Jackson himself said in in an interview that the only way to sing this song was not to sing it.
Love this beautiful performance of a Leonard Cohen masterpiece.
The man can sing anything...always with grace and feeling.
Never heard a LC cover song that I love so much.
Love the way Jackson does this song. beautiful .
Huge pleasant surprise, well done. Thanks for all you gave us Leonard Cohen.RIP 2016 The year of loss.
He has a J-45 Gibson too. Best guitar ever, and boy does he make that thing sing!
