Hello I know this vid is made two years ago but I just wanna how this video really touched me. As a 12 year girl that went natural last year I alway thought the loser it is the better and i would pray and beg god for a loser hair type so I started searching people with my hair type so I started trying to embrace my hair over the summer. So I try to do hairstyles and it just would'nt work.... Trust me sometimes i feel a little cute with my natural hair. Anyways one time I wore this one hair extension which looked my real l hair like the coily extension ( if you know what I mean) and While i had that on I got that, That pretty previlige so I taugh that if I grew my hair out I would be more beautiful and now i waiting to see what happens to m hair
    love, UA-cam wiewer...

I’m wearing my real hair yall! It’s 12:15am and I’m 42 years old today. I’ve struggled with my hair and the texture and also my skin color. If I get too tan everyone has something to say. When I wear a long straight weave or wig I am told I am so beautiful. Every time I wear my hair natural I get insulted, or ignored, overlooked. So I internalized it. And now my hair And health have suffered. I lost my entire perimeter 1/2” back. It’s growing in but I know this is going to be a journey. However I’m worth it. That little girl you were hoping to inspire, was the little girl in me. I’ll be watching and listening when I start thinking I’m ugly or longing for long tresses that make me feel like a fake and a fraud. As I put. Y bonnet on tonight after oiling my scalp, I saw how beautiful I am, naturally me. No loads of makeup, bags under my eyes cus it’s been a long day, I even looked at my mommy Tunmy and my stretch marks that beat the story of my four children, one an Angel. I am beautiful exactly how I am, the length and texture of hair I have. Happy birthday to me 💖

This is a blessing in disguise. I can't begin to tell you how thankful I am that this video came out today ( a.k.a my wash day). I was feeling really stressed at the fact that it takes me so long to do it, cause I have a lot of 4c hair and the whole process is tedious and occasionally makes me cry out of frustration. I've been natural for three years now and with every year that goes by I've learned to love it more and more. The compliments I get from strangers keeps me going and I hope one day to fully embrace this beautiful crown of mine. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. ♡

it's not that simple agrreed! it's literally a whole journey for most of us. I think it's because we are finally using products that work best for us and learning what style we feel most comfortable in that dont add too much manipulation.

That we love our hair (even though it can be a journey) and our skin as well and so should they!! ❤️❤️❤️ Awesome job!!

This is so intimate, beautiful filmed, and thoughtful. Thank you for sharing your vulnerability. Thank you for being yourself. Sort of not related, but I am always disappointed about the representation of black woman in shows or books because they are never relatable. You share a dimension humanity that I feel is missing from depictions of black women. Not that other women aren’t multidimensional, Im just really taken by your artistry. I feel a kinship to you. Black, Haitian, writer, estranged from family, traveler. I relate to you in a lot of ways and it feels less isolating to know there are people in the world who share in certain experiences. I’m wishing you all the luck on your journey be it hair, relationships, happiness, spiritual fulfillment, whatever.

Thank you for this ❤️ I recently did my 5th big chop to go natural and as always it’s been stressful dealing with the hate against my 4c hair. Sometimes I just have to remind myself that my hair is authentically me and there’s no way I could ever not be beautiful with what grows directly from my scalp. So really it’s been a learning progress with me growing to love my hair but videos like this always keep me motivated in my journey.

The tears of these brought out of me are unreal. I’m a mixed girl so having type 4 hair always made me feel wrong compared to my mixed peers, the rage and self loathing of not having “good hair” legitimately sent me manic; especially growing up with a Mexican mother with long thick wavy hair who IS a hairdresser but still didn’t completely know how to care for mine SUCKED!!! Anyways, I just recently turned 18 and I’m finally gonna try showing my natural hair all the love it’s always deserved. It’s going to be really difficult but everything worth it is. Thank you so much for giving me the courage to do so

I don’t know how you do it!
I cannot put all that effort in anymore.. I’m tired!
Cutting up aloe Vera, using fenugreek, alma oil rice water and all the other miracle growing essences I see on these tutorials.
I don’t believe or have the time for it.
My hair will do as it pleases as long as I wash it regularly and keep it moist.
I have spent to much time and money on products. I think it’s time to just let nature take its course, for et t all the tutorials. We are all different and do are-our journeys.
I will not allow my hair to dictate what I do with my life.
I love your videos, keep them coming!!

I just recently took down my locs which I've had since i was around 3/4 at the time (iI am 13 now) and never once seen my hair without having locs, and when i saw it was 4c i was on the verge of tears. I have never been taught to love my 4c hair or my hair just in general so i am just glad there is people out there who teach little girls and adults today to love there hair.

Can I open some thoughts here? I m originally from south Asia and your hair story let me thinking...what if it were crucial that yall adopt your natural hair for printing it in people s eyes as a powerful visual affect? Let me explain: the more you see something, the more natural. I think that if African women let their hair natural it would enter the collective imagination as something that s part of everyday life and visual effect by the number is a powerful soft power. New generations could maybe be at ease To be represented everywhere? Yet the real sacrifice would be for this generation To accept the eventual foreign stares or self depreciation but that could liberate the next generations by not giving up ? your hair are unique no one can imitate them. Why give up such a uniqueness ? Actual beauty standards Will hold only if we nourrish them despite their toxicity. What do you think ?

that is brilliant but unfortunately the people are so brainwashed, people so close to you like even your mom will mock you for not "doing " your hair, just because you have let the hair free they will call you poor and unkept, actually weaves and wigs are seen as a sign of wealth and natural girls are seemed like they cant affors doing their hair,i cant tell how many times people have asked to do my hair and they like" when are you going to do your hair?" its really tough out here its sad that its so rare seeing girls rocking their natural hair,a ratio of 1:10

I'm going off to college this year and I want to accept my natural hair in its own state... How do I? A twist out is probably not going to be the easiest style to maintain. I’m in school now and I’ve been liking mini braids. It looks better on my fine hair than mini twists. If i take it out and don’t have enough time to restyle, I wear chunky twists.

Looks gross? Hopefully you are not a POC because the hate is real. Natural hair is beautiful. The challenge is when you look in every hair magazine and your hairtype is not represented, or if you go to the hair aisle at the store, not only are products to take care of natural hair 4-5X more expensive than other products, but they also have negative labels on them like “for damaged, unruly hair.” The message society gives us is that we shouldn’t love our hair or ourselves.
There is nothing gross about the hair naturally growing out of my head that GOD gave me. .
