      I don't know about Madison being the best WTA player who has not won a major title. 2 other players immediately come to mind. Caroline Pliskova- also a dominate server and baseliner- who has been number one in the world and has also been to a major final is one. The other is Jabeur-:who has been to three major finals. Not easy for someone who does not have the power game. Don' be biased against Jabeur- merely because you prefer the power game of Madison..

    Hands down best women’s match of the year so far. As an Iga fan Keys deserved this win completely. Will be rooting for her like hell on Saturday!

    incredible match!! needs to be mentioned that a couple times after madison almost broke iga in the 3rd, she almost got broken. i think there was a game she was down 0-40, and one down 15-40 that she found a way to hold. iga was even able to get her into extended rallies on a few points and madison fought her off to get some clutch holds. very tough after losing break opportunities herself.

      Iga made in that game just one, but a very important mistake. As her fan, I’m very sad she didn’t just put the ball over the net. She had some occassions. Now I hope Keys will win the trophy 😢

    Madison played really well under pressure, and this win is well deserved. However I feel that Iga's errors are what made the difference. She missed so many easy shots, especially on her backhand. It was tough to watch.

      Very high unforced error count. I think Iga really felt the pressure today due to her opponent and the stage.

    3 sets in a grand slam final is a rip off for spectators. WTA should change it urgently.

      Absolutely! Especially when the prize money is the same! That’s discrimination to men to make them work 50% more for the same pay 😂

      The Grand Slams are not run by the WTA and ATP, so it's not up to them. I do wish the finals were 5 sets though.

      @@denfl6605 Yes, it’s unfortunate that they (women) are getting equal pay with men for less work. Women just would not be able to go 5 sets..put on your thinking cap!

    Keys switched her racquet two months ago from Wilson to a Yanex Ezone. This could be a factor as well. She stated that she wanted to find a racquet with a little bit of "safer, easier power", and when she picked up the Ezone, "it felt really good, and that was the winner". It is rare for these pros switching to a new racquet and achieving good results so quickly. She might have just found the "safer and easier power" with this new racquet.

    So happy for Madison. She's finally turned her history of choking and mental breakdowns around with this win. At almost 30 she now looks a different player, freed of her shackles. It'll be tough against Sabalenka but if she serves well and manages to land the first blow consistently, she has a chance. Really good point about the serve percentages, different approaches for different opponents.

    Poor Paula, she couldn't really impact Aryna's game all that much. Hopefully, she'll learn from this experience and make some adjustments the next time they meet. She needs to bring the same level of intensity and match Aryna's fierceness
    And Madison....I'm so happy for her to have made it back into another GS final! 😄Many were expecting a Sabalenka vs Swiatek final, but Sabalenka vs Keys is just as much of a blockbuster. If both women play way they did in their SF's, then there's gonna be some heaters flying in the final 😆😆

    Love to see Madison win,but probably won't happen unless her fitness is up a notch from the last time these two met.
    However,Sabalenka is not entirely unbeatable.Just when u think she's coasting I've seen her break down and choke especially the double faults and unforced errors

    Nikola, you nailed it about Keys. Well done! I stopped believing in her long ago, but this win was huge! I love to see Iga being crushed by big game player. If Serena still plays, she would blast Swiatek of the court every time.

    • @timothylee2772
      @timothylee2772 10 годин тому +1

      Nah....Serena is too old. Her prime days are long gone should she un-retires from tennis.

    • @DeltoidBeast
      @DeltoidBeast 10 годин тому +4

      @timothylee2772 I meant on prime Serena, not on old, retired Serena. She would be deadly for Swiatek. There would be no match at all, just serves and returs from Williams.

    • @utetennisfan5458
      @utetennisfan5458 9 годин тому +1

      @@DeltoidBeast Agreed. It's too bad they didn't overlap a bit more. To be fair, Swiatek is more than likely not in her prime yet, or just barely entering it, so who knows what she'll figure out over the next few years. But prime Serena versus current Swiatek would not end well for Swiatek most of the time.

    • @DeltoidBeast
      @DeltoidBeast 9 годин тому +3

      @utetennisfan5458 Yeah, too bad they did not clash into each other. From age perspective, it looks like Swiatek can improve more, but from her game style perspective, I think she already peaked. I expect her slow decline in years to come. Rybakina can improve when she fix her head and emotional issues.
