Superb analysis as always Nik you need to be on a mainstream channel as well as your own channel we need more people to enjoy and benefit from your expert, fair, and insightful analysis.
Tommy Paul was sublime vs Zverev and was making him look like a amateur for the better part of three sets with incredible serving and returning. However zverev was locked in when it maytered and was spectacular in set 4. I think he will be extremely dangerous even if not the outright favourite
That match reminded me of one of those hockey games where one team has 40+ shots on goal, but the other team only has 14 shots on goal and wins by like 3 goals. Zverev was clutch in every moment he needed to be clutch in and punished Tommy for not closing him out in the first two sets.
Super analysis ! I think that, another time, the mind, the focus on key moments will result definitely crucial to see how he will win. This is another Djokovic advantage as he knows how to put serious pressure in key moments. The only guy who is able to manage this extra "out of the game" Djokovic power is Sinner.
Very worried for the Goat against zverev. Zverev is very consistent and defensive than aggressive. The rallies are going to be super long, and Goat is going to struggle over 3 sets. Maybe Goat can come over to the net more. Zverev will be prepared for it too.
People turned on demonhour when he mocked Novak getting deported and called him a bad person. That is how you lose respect of your peers instantly. He can own it.
There were two reactions back in 2022 by ADM on Djokovic: 1) when Djokovic was "exempted", Duckworth and ADM were asked for a reaction. Duckworth gave a smirky answer and ADM was indeed laughing about it, calling it PC and continuing to smirk. This was not so much an attack on Djokovic but on the AO giving him a pass at first. 2) when Djokovic was eventually "deported", ADM said the following: "“Australians have gone through a lot. There’s no secret about that. They’ve had it very tough. They’ve done a lot of work to protect themselves and their borders. When you’re coming in, as well as every other tennis player, if you wanted to come into the country, you had to be double vaccinated. It was up to him, his choices, his judgement." He wasn't "mocking the deportation" and at no point called him "a bad person". In fact, Rafael Nadal's reaction was way harsher: “It’s very clear that Novak Djokovic is one of the best players of the history, without a doubt. But there is no one player in history that’s more important than an event. The player stays and then goes, and other players are coming. No-one, even Roger (Federer), Novak, myself, Bjorn Borg who was amazing at his time, tennis keeps going. Australian Open is much more important than any player. If he’s playing finally, OK. If he’s not playing, Australian Open will be great Australian Open with or without him.” Novak later defeated ADM and gave quite a salty press conference with respect to ADM. He never did that against Nadal or any other player that "mocked" him at the time, and there were many. So the Djokovic fanbase became all bullying against ADM, following their idol. I don't think ADM did anything to deserve that, apart from being an easier target than Nadal. Mind you, I like Novak a lot on court and outside of the court. He's gracious in victory and defeat. He's an amazing representative for the professionals, defending the rights of the lesser gods. But he should know better than taking some honest words by an Australian player, during those difficult times, in front of his home audience, into a feud. After all, it WAS his choice.
@ Alex laughed and allegedly clapped when he heard that Novak got deported and I swore he questioned novaks character off the court in some random interview.
Injury is one thingand post injury inflammations are another. As soon as you are injured, you wont notice much pain but the night after or in 2 is when it really worsens. If novak handles it, he looks inspired enough to go all the way. But itsdependent on how well GOAT recovers.
I saw DeMin coming back at US Open 2023. He was playing with such speed and precision. Then he put together an amazing 2024 earned that spot in the ATP finals. I love his game and any hate against him is total BS. Sinner is making everyone look like an amateur when he's at his best. Only Alcaraz really gave him trouble last year.
sinner looks good, I am expecting to him win it all, he is too young, too fast for Novak, he is mentally better than carlos. If he plays like the way he did against Alex, Novak wont win esp if he is not 100% healthy.
More importantly, Sinner has a way bigger serve and especially on the second serve. That is where Alcaraz lost the match. Also people forget somehow Alcaraz is two years younger than Sinner (and still beat him 3-0 last year and at the USO 2022)
According to this page, Alcaraz has the highest percentage of successfully returned first serves in the entire tournament. Even Djokovic had a higher percentage of returned first serves against Alcaraz than Sinner did against De Minaur. And according to this page, Zverev had the highest first-serve accuracy in the entire tournament during his match against Pedro Martinez. Furthermore, Alcaraz had the highest percentage of first-serve points won in the entire tournament during his match against Yoshihito Nishioka, with 88.9%.
Alcaraz played quite badly against Djokovic, now he is part of the Next Gen: the Gen that is traumatized by Djokovic so they play with fear against him....
If Zverev plays to his full potential he should win this match and exploit Novak's father time. I'm pulling for Ben upsetting Sinner as well, but that will take a herculean effort and a stroke of luck where Ben never loses an ounce of focus and Sinner does.
That was a nice defense of de Minaur sir. Don’t know much about him or his game but didn’t know that his overall return stats were #1 in the world. Absolutely deserves the respect of the tennis community. Also quite good analysis of the upcoming semi-finals. I think that Zverev will outlast Djokovic in five sets. He ( Zverev) is playing at a pretty high level and will move Djokovic around a little bit more than Alcaraz did. We all that Alcaraz was psyched out from the ‘injury’ and he(Alcaraz) even acknowledged that in his post game press conference. Zverev will be a bit more focused on staying on the task at hand.
Alex de Minaur is a hell of a player. Love to see him on court, his game is super cool to watch. He has all my RESPECT for what he's been doing in the last years.
Very tough to call Djokovic Vs Zverev. Just based on the fact that Nole won against Alcaraz who is 15 yrs younger and , with Sinner, the current best player, I would have to pick Djokovic. However it will depend on his health conditions, and playing during the dayI think will suit Zverev better. Very hard to call indeed. I do expect a big battle though
Definitely deserves more respect, the Demon. Looks like an ordinary player compared to other monster next-gen stars, but he has his own secret weapons🔥
Great job! Esp on De Minaur. He is an amazing guy and amazing player. Tennis is about many things and if De Minaur doesn't have the same pace as other players and he is there beating the best it means he is far better than them on other things...
Hi Nik, great video as always. Sasha has never beaten Joker in a grand slam and he's not going to change that statistic next match. Joker has made 50 semifinals out of 77 grand slams played truly remarkable. Sinner will win this tournament against Nole in the final.
11:25 At the beginning of the video you show the list of best returners (De minaur, Alcaraz, Sinner) and now you say Djokovic is the best returner in the world? In my opinion Sinner is now better because he is better at jumping and getting first serves in the court while being better at attacking second serves.
@dellaroggia Same like he was crushed by Alcaraz I assume. Sinner is weaker than Alcaraz, he has no chance. Clueless you are still not aware of it. Ridiculous that such people exist.
@ramakrishnamitta7024 What a nonsense! On that day everyone would dismantle Djokovic since he did not play at all. You must learn to watch tennis properly. Matches that are relevant are the ones where both players show their highest level. Novak was heavily unmotivated on the beginning of 2024 after great 2023, was sick whole tournament and had wrist injury. Sinner knows it, and it is embaressing that you do not know it.
What about how good Sonego was amazing performance just choked a bit in 4th set tiebreak with two unforced errors. Also amazing volleys and winners over his head!
Couldn't be more positively surprised by De Minaur's return ranking. Seems such a nice person, almost reminds me of Mecir. Both are great movers, with a humble and professional demeanor on court. Similar ranking too!
You truly know what you are talking about. What weak non tennis "fans" write in social medias are just to be ignored. Myself is a big Mats Wilander fan. Both as a player and a true tennis fan/expert. Everybody should listen to people like you and Mats. Thanks for your work. Appreciate it much.
One thing about old Djokovic is that he can have a really bad day and just can't swing it around against really good players. Happened many times. If Djokovic brings base level from this AO - he will win. Another thing I hate is how Novak played every match at night this year and will play day match tomorrow. I have to be fact checked, but I think both Zverev and Sinner last year are coming to semis after playing more day matches than Novak. It's not a small thing. Biorhythm is important.
Unfortunately in tennis only 2-3 top players win slams, sometimes there are random wins, but if you’re in top10 is not guaranteed you will win a grand slam
1) the headline says semifinal preview, however first 6 minutes are talking about de Minaur. 2) The thumbnail said: will Djokovic beat Zverev, and at the very end you said: _so, let's see what happens_ 13:05 If it's a joke, then it's a bitter one.
DeMinaur beating Djokovic at the United Cup was because Djokovic was injured. I doubt he will beat Djokovic again. The next time they played, after Australia, Djokovic won
2:55 De Minaur will finish this tournament 8th in the world (or 9th if Shelton wins AO25) When Nik gets emotional (this is not life/death/harm!), sometimes nonsense follows. Jannik had an amazing day: a coach should've said to AdM by at least midway: *Plan B/C* Do not feed pace near Sinner's strikezone. Giving him rhythm in that mood is suicide, "making himself look like a junior".
Ehh...I wouldn't go at it that way with the whole "Worst Top 10 player in history." I'd first point out that it's simply an opinion, and that most, when pressed, wouldn't really be able to elaborate what that really means. I'd suggest that if it comes up, just press them to break it down. See what that opinion is grounded in. I've found that many won't want to after a certain point. They'd rather hold onto that opinion, and possibly their h8 rather than to explain themselves. In general, this is typical online behavior. Some people abandon their values when online, and some probably don't really have strong good values.
Alex De Minaur does not have my respect. He showed who he truly is during Djokovic's saga with deportation and vaccination status. He showed once again how small human he is by justify his loss against Sinner while comparing it with Novak's loss against Sinner at AO 2024, match where Djokovic did not play at all. Technically, his shots are on amateur level. However, he deserved his ranking with some other qualities he has. Fast, light legs, endurance, consistency, and his ugly technique creates tricky ball for opponents. Still, he is no example of any kind, especially not as a man, and also not as a tennis player. I love how Sinner crush him every time. Main reason is that he does not have technique to crush the ball well. Amateur!
Enjoy your videos, as always. Interesting data and unbiased analysis. Djokovic has the experience and when combined with the usual "medical time out" in the nick of time, he has a chance to win, not as fair and as square as many others. I look forward to seeing Sinner taking the trophy home. He is a great example of sportsmanship, in addition to his skills.
Even if Shelton serves his absolute best ,he won' have a chance against a healthy Sinner. Sinner is too good and Shelton is good but has to improve everywhere.
Zverev sure can beat Nole, but will he? Hm,dont know. Wawrinka also didnt win his first slam till he was 30. Before that i was comparing him with Verdasco. These two were in the same 'choker group'. Then something clicked for Wawrinka and he won 3 slam. Can something similar happen to Zverev ? Yes . And i think he will beat Nole but again lose in the finals.
I see de minaur rushing himself often trying to half volley groundstrokes just inside the baseline. He miss hits them often and the ball lands weak in the middle of the court. He rushed himself on his shot and then is out of position. He's a great guy and player but I think sometimes he needs to not rush so much. He had a great season last year and deserves top 10!
Zverev had a huge advantage in Tokyo, because Novak foolishly was playing, Singles, Mixed Doubles, and I believe Doubles and trying to admirably earn the maximum gold medals for Serbia, while I believe Zverev only played singles and was completely rested for that match. I'm rooting for Nole, but Sasha has a body that was designed by Olympic Tennis Gods (if they exist), with Great Height, Great Serve, Great Two Handed Backhand, Great Speed, and a forehand that is not a weakness, I don't see how he ever loses to anybody, and does all of this while being a diabetic, amazing. This will be an amazing match, but if they go 5 hours and 5 sets with dozens of long rallies, then they will be too tired on Sunday, and Sinner will be able to skip his PED shots that day. Nole/Sasha need to spend less that 3.5 hours in their match for the winner to beat the sinner.
Zverev mental block in Grand Slams is a huge obstacle. I agree if Novak is 100% physically it would be extremely difficulty for Zverev to win. Novak has new motivation and desire to prove again why he is the goat. This match is more mental than anything else giving Novak a huge advantage.
The rules that allow you take 5 minutes for medical time. So, if you are injured or feel it going to be or did not feel good you can take this time. If you do not use it ,please do not complain or say it fake injure. No excu When you loss or blaming that person that made you loss concentration
@@TheFlowMinda real injury stops you from playing, which didn't happen (yet). Yes he can have an ache. What I do think if that Zverev can push him like Ruud and Cerundolo pushed him at the RG last year. That he thus wins the match, but loses the battle.
@@DeltoidBeast I think even with an ache / semi-injury he can beat Zverev, but Zverev can make it such a sluggfest with his defence and backhand to backhand rallies that Djokovic wins the battle but loses the war (pyrrus victory) leaving no time to recover before the final.
No. de Minaur deserves no respect; he Kicked Djokovic on the face when he was on the ground in AO 2022; Novak completely destroyed him next year in vengance. So de Minaur is a very good player and an absolutely deserving top 10 ... but the respect is earned not just by that.
Thumbnai - Can Zverev won against Djokovic ?? Of course - Sasha have all it needs to won a grand slam , only little help from lady Luck. Will he , that is whole another story , question is will Djokovic come out with his A game.
But there's absolutely no lie in that statement. He is the least effective top 10 player in history. I wouldn't put it as harshly as people on the internet do. But it is true.
What about all the top 10 players that were there for only a week or a couple of weeks after a few good runs? I'd say if someone is in the top 10 for a longer period than by definition you can't be the worst one.
De Minaur is not refreshing at all. He's like a downgraded version of Ferrrer with less fighting spirit. A lot of guys play like that and there's nothing special about them. The guy can play a set out of his mind and still find a way to lose it, or upon winning it, to get absolutely smashed in the next two or three. He racks up statistics against weaker players on lesser tournaments which is why his true quality, or lack thereof, is exposed whenever he faces a consistent top player, or even someone outside of the top 10-20 if they're having a good day. His speed is an asset, but it takes too much energy from him which is why the high level opposition blows him off the court in grand slams. His surface versatility is average. Another reason why people talk down on him is because he's often cynical and very critical of other players but fails to back it up when he faces them. Its not a good look.

He played day session in round 2. And the semis will be just 5 hours earlier than a night session match. I don't think it matters for Djokovic.
Unfortunately in tennis only 2-3 top players win slams, sometimes there are random wins, but if you’re in top10 is not guaranteed you will win a grand slam
What are you talking about? There are no random wins in men's ATP? Why don't you make a list?
@ del Potro in 2009, Wawrinka in 2014, Cilic in 2014
Correction. Pronouced as Alex De Minoor or De Minour not Alex Demonower
Twitter/X is the sewer of the internet, De Minaur should ignore it, as we should all. Fortunately there are knowledgeable people on other platforms.
1) the headline says semifinal preview, however first 6 minutes are talking about de Minaur.
2) The thumbnail said: will Djokovic beat Zverev, and at the very end you said: _so, let's see what happens_ 13:05 If it's a joke, then it's a bitter one.
What if Nole can't play tomorow at all?
everything is possible. lets see. I hope not. I hope he is fine, and that we will watch another incredible match no matter who wins.
The only thing I care is that anyone should beat the doper, who does it... doesn't really matter...
It just means the gap between top 3-4 and the rest is big, you could be top 5-10. Of course, Novak is an exception for his current rank
DeMinaur beating Djokovic at the United Cup was because Djokovic was injured. I doubt he will beat Djokovic again. The next time they played, after Australia, Djokovic won
2:55 De Minaur will finish this tournament 8th in the world (or 9th if Shelton wins AO25)
When Nik gets emotional (this is not life/death/harm!), sometimes nonsense follows.
Amateur!
@josmith2002 Correct.
Novak in straight sets... Mostly because Zverev won't find his groove.
Thank you
Sorry but De Minaur won't be ranked #6 after AO, he will be #8 (or #9 if Shelton wins the tournament but this is highly unlikely)
But Sinner took 11 minutes against Rune.
@@xuntang1969 The time start at the end of the evaluation. 🙄
AdM is a great player but has a tough time beating the top players consistently as his forehand is slightly underpowered compared to them.
Bro, not the X (formally known as Twitter) comments, someone block that site/app for all athletes 😭😭 just takes their heads off from the game
Poor Alex. Dunno why the guy gets so much hate.
Makes no sense
Alex got taken apart by Sinner. It was as simple as that and it showed the gap in level.
He’s going Kamala it for sure
Djokovic in 4 or 5. Sinner in 3.
lol Shelton doesn’t have a chance against sinner.
Same with zverev
Novak and sinner just way too good
Zverev can beat Nole.
But will he ?
Who knows, lets hope for a good match and see.
💯
oh yes, De Minaur has a bols
of Asterion, in Greek mythology,
better known as MINOTAUR.
He will receive respect when he starts respecting other players.
Matches with Zverev are always very physical, and Novak must be injury free to pass him. If he is, he will crush him, if he is not, Zverev should win.
You can’t get out of a injury in two days. Nole was barely holding on with Alcaraz. If he has lost that set if would have been the end.
@@TheFlowMinda real injury stops you from playing, which didn't happen (yet). Yes he can have an ache. What I do think if that Zverev can push him like Ruud and Cerundolo pushed him at the RG last year. That he thus wins the match, but loses the battle.
@@TheFlowMind True. No one can play their best with an injury. Novak is in big trouble. It is a miracle he won against Alcaraz.
@@fwvw7056 Injury will probably stop Djokovic. I hope he can find solution somehow. Maybe it is impossible.
@@DeltoidBeast I think even with an ache / semi-injury he can beat Zverev, but Zverev can make it such a sluggfest with his defence and backhand to backhand rallies that Djokovic wins the battle but loses the war (pyrrus victory) leaving no time to recover before the final.
It turns out he only needed to win the 1st set
He can't gain to Djokovic , but Sinner could .
For anyone who watched Tokyo Olympics, you could see that Djokovic beaten himself
In what? If it's tennis, I doubt it.
De minuar looks like he is 5 feet no force such a week lad
That’s why he’s a top 10er…weak and only 5’…
He's hated not because his game, but because his disrespect towards Novak during the pandemic.. His inappropriate comments.
Alex Dinosaur is my favorite player.
No. de Minaur deserves no respect; he Kicked Djokovic on the face when he was on the ground in AO 2022; Novak completely destroyed him next year in vengance.
So de Minaur is a very good player and an absolutely deserving top 10 ... but the respect is earned not just by that.
Alex de minaur does not deserve to be top 10. He has no weapons that can challenge any of the top players, unlike Ben Shelton
No. Sinner will do that in the final
i think he will beat djokovic in 4 sets and proceed to win his first GS too !
Djokovic is not injured LoL 😅
I feel Zverev will win on Nole this time.
Thumbnai - Can Zverev won against Djokovic ??
Of course - Sasha have all it needs to won a grand slam , only little help from lady Luck.
Will he , that is whole another story , question is will Djokovic come out with his A game.
De Minaur will not become the number 6 of the ATP ranking. De Minaur will keep his actual ranking, number 8, with a few points away from Medvedev.
yh wtf. novak will become number 6
Casper Ruud so much worse
Sacha is smarter than Carlos, he will beat novak
no respoect for the pisher deminaru
ur analysis wasnot working
Zverev will beat novak in 4 sets is my prediction
