We are in one of the most tiny but super exotic islands of Greece!
It has a size of 20 square kilometers and a population of one thousand inhabitants. Your imagination dances happily along the infinite horizon, in the clear white sand, in the translucent turquoise waters, in the shade of the cedars and under the clear blue sky and the bright sun. Without a doubt, this is one of the most beautiful Greek islands and just as it happens with everyone who comes here for vacation, so you, will want to stay forever… A #summer #exotic #adventure in Greece!
In case you do not reach this magical island by sailing boat, then you will have the opportunity to cross amazing landscapes of the Peloponnese, including the historic city of #Sparta! The route is 325 km and lasts about 4:30 hours.
Last land image before taking the ferry is the beach of #Pounta, standing beautifully overlooking the town of Elafonisos. The distance by ferry lasts only 10 minutes.
Crossing the Strait of Elafonisos, with its shallow turquoise waters, you enter another world. In your left hand looking at the island there is a sunken state around the islet of #Pavlopetri. Before a catastrophic earthquake struck and sank this ancient city 3.5 thousand years old, Elafonisos was the end of a peninsula called Onou Gnathos, ie the jaw of the Donkey. I think you can easily get the image. The water has preserved much of the structure of this submerged wonder - buildings, streets and squares are still visible. There is even a cemetery with 60 graves! The research is being continued while a 3D documentary by BBC is impressive.

Πρίν πολλά χρόνια πηγαίναμε με την γιαγιά μου με τις κατσικούλες τότε που για να πας στο κάτω νησί υπήρχε ακόμα χωματόδρομος. Χρόνια αξέχαστα.
Η προοδος και ο εκσυγχρονισμος εφτασε, με τα οσα καλά ή λιγοτερο καλά μας εχει φέρει. ωραια εικονα αυτη που περιγράψατε

Δεν θυμιζει σε καποια σημεια κατι αμμολοφους απο Χαλκιδική; απλα αντι για πευκα εχει κέδρους και πιο έντονο γαλαζοπρασινο χρωμα η θάλασσα

Καποτε ευχαριστιομασταν την διαμονη μας στο συγκεκριμενο νησι. Ελαχιστα ατομα ακομα και στα μεσα Αυγουστου. Τωρα πλεον βαβουρα, ομπρελες οσο παει το ματι σου και Αγιος ο Θεος. Τελος Σεπτεμβρη η αρχες Ιουνη λιγο καλυτερα τα πραγματα αλλα και παλι για μενα εχει τελειωσει η Ελαφονησος. Να ζησουμε να την θυμομαστε οπως ηταν....
Σε πολλά μερη συμβαίνει αυτό... Και σε κράτη που η "βαριά τους βιομηχανία" ειναι ο τουρισμός τα πραγματα θα γίνονται και χειρότερα, με συνυπευθυνο μεγαλο μερος της κοινωνιας που δραστηριοποιειται στον τουρισμό.
Ειναι ζητημα επιλογών τελικά

The gentleman who has described this distance from Sparta to this little island Has miss calculated the distance it is exactly 80 km from Sparta I guess hes never been there to say 350 km in the video from Sparta I guess you never went to geography or national geographic It is a shame for somebody to describe something so beautiful and not know how far it is from Sparta So please I haven't checked your other videos but I'm sure you've made a lot of other mistakes so replace this video and say the right distance so people don't panic at the end and you keep telling them 350 km from Sparta to this destination this beautiful tropical island which I'm born on thank you

Watch again this video. Turn on the subtitles! 2 languages, Greek and English. You will realise that is is mentioned that to get to Elafonisos you have to drive through the Peloponnese passing from Sparta and thus the distance is such.
It is obvious that you have your own reasons to comment in such a wrong way and ask people not to watch other videos 😂

If you mean the first 2 weeks of August, then you really underestimate the island and it's beauties. Try to visit it during June, beginning of July, end of August and September. You will definitely change your mind
@@TourismosTravelGuru Sorry didn’t mean to offend you. Was comparing to when I visited the first time back in 1989. Simos beach was absolute pristine. No umbrellas, no sun beds,. No doof doof music lol. Unfortunately mass tourism has affected the whole world! Not just Greece. Again sorry for offending you.
