My dad was a meteor pilot in 610 squadron, he is going to love this. Shame the sound is missing? I have only a few photos of them all, but they loved low level flying! Kids at the local outdoor pool loved it too! (At the end of the runway!!)
Sqn Ldr Neville Duke, Group Capt. Teddy Donaldson and Sqn Ldr. Bill Waterton. All great names from the era of pioneering jet test flight. Sadly with us no more. That was a truly great era for the post-war Royal Air Force.
EE528 was a specially prepared Meteor F.3 in the RAF 'High Speed Flight' and is shown here with faired-over gun ports and high-gloss finish. It was used for practise runs along the Kent coast before the world speed record was broken by EE549 and EE550. All three aircraft were later refurbished and EE528 modified to the early F.4 standard. It crashed in the north sea at the hands of a student pilot in 1952.
Apart from my cousin getting killed in one!!! I flew a far superior jet that did mach2 & was better equipped than the Meteor! This was a 1950s design called the CA-29 code name Mirage 3 !!!

What a great bit of film, pity there is no sound, but still worth the watching. I think that would have been an F3 Meteor a beautiful aircraft.

Flying the Meteor in a shirt and tie, love it.
That would be so much fun, having a little jet like that all to yourself? This was before the sound barrier was broken tho.
This is at Tangmere airfield
