Byrd himself was somewhat perplexed by his own longevity at a time when his contemporaries were bidding adios cruel world in their 40s - 60, while he went on to 83, which is good for these days but extraordinary (but not entirely unheard of) back then.

It's true. I find very interesting the movement and volume of the voices to describe some words as "at midnight", "at cockcrow", "sleeping". Obviously also the performers were also excellent in the performance of this very interesting music piece.
