I think that Liza continued to grow vocally and as a performer into her 40's and even 50's ... whereas Judy peaked much earlier. No one can compare with early Judy vocals, but in my opinion, no one can/could touch Liza when she was at her peak in her mid 40's.
Liza's best years where definitely during the 80s and early 90s. I'm guessing addiction probably affected Judy's voice but still she sounded great until the end.
Liza doing her classic song that is still her anthem to this day...clearly Johnny & the audience loved it & the interview is fun to watch all these years later!
I'll never understand why some people waste their time watching videos of artists they don't like in the first place, and then why do they feel the need to comment about it to the rest of us? Sure, Judy and Liza have similarities and they have differences. I can still love and appreciate them both. I can also love Barbra and others. Just enjoy whomever you enjoy without making it into some sort of competition.

Ohhh my God Wonderful Talent.. Bravoooo y ole con oleeeee
Looking back through Liza’s years of singing. I noticed this time was like a transition period for her she was starting to sound more mature but still sang the songs as she would when she was younger
@sissillian1 Technically, Liza was THE star along with Barbara S., They were the ONLY BANKABLE stars for a period of time. Also, Liza won an Oscar for best actress. She was, and is, a superstar.
Please watch her performance at the Statue of Liberty celebration at Giants stadium. I think it’s from 1986? Just UA-cam Liza at the Meadowlands. Mind boggling.
I saw liza maneli in concert in 1994 I was in the 4th row center, sitting behind me was a main shareholder of Pepsi cola he happened to be my sister's ex, he fell asleep during the show and was snoring so loud during the show, I felt sorry for liza because she could hear him the whole entire show because he was 5th row centre right behind me but anyway her show was fabulous besides the constant loud very loud snoring......😜😉🙃😄
I couldn't help looking at the wire from the microphone 'cus i was a bit nervous she would step on it or maybe fall...but luckily she didn't. Good job Liza!
It was actually interviewers who constantly asked her about her mother everywhere she went. And when people would shout out her mom's songs when Liza would come out for encores, she would say "it's been done." She did her own songs.
@@Broadwaybuff-pi1qg not true watch the interviews on youtube she refers to her mother constantly titally of her own accord and I mean **CONSTANTLY** she **CONSTANTLY** sang her mother's songs too (and murdered them) these are just facts that are here on youtube for anyone to see
I mean...damn. Such power! What we call an "entertainer" nowadays is an embarrassment when you consider that you had to have THIS in order to be called one before. TALENT used to matter. Even the talk show hosts were better entertainers than what we have now. Carson and McMahon would KILL you with their exchanges. And Carson could actually sing some. Saw him sit in with the Rat Pack and hold his own! These three are from a time when you had to be able to get the job done no matter what and with no extra help if need be.
She was a great performer but she belts eveything. You can really hear her defincies when she sings softly, that's why she avoids going there. Very intellegent show woman. She played to all her strengths and she had personality. Loads of personality.
Liza actually excels at singing softly. Listen to her sing He’s Funny That Way for example. She croons through the whole song up until the end when she starts with the belting. Her recording of The Man I Love from New York New York is another great example of how good she is when reigning it in.
In her concerts she actually sang a lot of soft theatrical songs, and was very good at them. Her Liza at Carnegie Hall CD for Telarc, for example, includes a beautiful performance of Lonely Feet and other tender ballads. These were the moments when sometimes sang just from a director's chair for the ballads. So she didn't belt everything. Not at all.
I sometimes find women with short hair very attractive. Even if they have their heads shaved, cause I gotta tell you when Natalie Portman had her head shaved in "V for Vendetta", she looked HOT!
and where did the polps come from??? I mean she must have had depressions otherwise she wouldn´t be a drinker! see the voice is connected to our soul! I love her to death! she is an amazing performer! Still she had a rough live with drug abuse!
i absolutely agree. too much chest voice pushed up too high and lots of laryngeal holding has ruined her voice. i saw her last december twice when her show was on broadway and even though she was vocally terrible, i couldn't stop watching. her acting and character is always so there that the voice doesn't really seem to matter. so inspiring! she really did use to have a wonderful voice when she was younger, though!
Amazing! But Judy’s singing voice was natural and her daughters, not so much.. Liza herself said that her mother had a natural voice and that Her mother was the best singer in the family. But then again, we already knew that!
As long as we have Liza, we still have a bit of Judy. I love em both.
I prefer her than her mum

I 100% agree with you!
Liza's best years where definitely during the 80s and early 90s. I'm guessing addiction probably affected Judy's voice but still she sounded great until the end.
Liza at the peak of her vocal powers. And with stage presence out the wazoo.
Always such a class act....This was when she was at the top of her game!
She is awesome. Class act.
Kind and smart
She looks so pretty in pink.
heaventree ofstars , she is wearing Halston
She is SO much like her mother.
Exactly!!!!
In so many ways Liza personifies her mother.
She killed it every time!
The performance is unreal. So powerful. What a treat to hear her talk about 'Arthur'.
The fabulous Liza Minnelli I love her.
she is one of the greatest performers with singing & dancing
tall gracefull
I love her outfit ...her whole energy ...her everything! She is awesome.
Liza doing her classic song that is still her anthem to this day...clearly Johnny & the audience loved it & the interview is fun to watch all these years later!
Only Two people to sing this song Frank and Liza !!!, no one else
And it was written for her.
Genia 🧞♀️! Increíble ! Monumental , actitud , talento , entrega y una voz sin igual , emociona hasta las lágrimas!! 👏👏👏👏👏👏🙏grande Liza!!!!!

Perfection, just as I remember.
Wish I could sing/deliver like that! Such a talented performer, that Liza.
So talented!!I love her!!
Liza was and IS the best performer since her Mother, Judy Garland. No price I wouldn't pay to see her in concert!!! ( Being poor stinks)
haha! I love that! Yes! She's STILL A powerhouse, and in my opinion this song sounds better now than it ever did!
I love Liza!!!!
Liza is a legend 👍👍👍
Indeed!

Oh. My. God. Phenom!!!
Tremendous..!

Agreed. From 1987 through 1998 she was truly firing on all cylinders.
Mama would be proud.

Eins der besten Videos aller Zeiten!!!!
Hot! Hot! HOT! Where was Liza during the NYC blackout? Her energy level is off the grid!! Love Ya, LM!
@sissillian1
Technically, Liza was THE star along with Barbara S., They were the ONLY BANKABLE stars for a period of time. Also, Liza won an Oscar for best actress. She was, and is, a superstar.
IMO, Liza exudes humility and class in the face of her amazing talent in comparison to the obnoxious self entitlement BS wreaks of.
Liza is beautiful
She throws herself do completly into that performance!
So completely
Please watch her performance at the Statue of Liberty celebration at Giants stadium. I think it’s from 1986? Just UA-cam Liza at the Meadowlands. Mind boggling.
Thank you I will.
Diva!
I so miss Johnny, Ed and Doc! The clowns on late night now, are just that, clowns!
One fantastic performer👍
Just wow
I LOVE you for saying that!
Hello my Darling close personal Friend. I love this.
Loved Lia in this movie love the song and the movie and Judy is would be very proud of her daughter Liza . I know I am !
she is the best!
I love this; she does sound just like her mother there; wow!
I SEE A LOT OF HER MOTHER JUDY GARLAND IN HER PERFORMANCE WHICH IS A GREAT THING LIZA SHE'S ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS.
what can you say!? She is the best!
Wonderful/
Perfect/
Gorgeous/
...
As long as we have Liza and her sister we still have Judy Garland because they came from Judy Garland
Why did they leave the film clip out? I love Arthur.
ADORABLE ♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡
The classics
True Artist...
La Voz privilegiada de Liza me recuerda a la de su Mamá JUDY GARLAND con diferente Estilo👏👏👏
I became a huge fan after Cabaret and then learned she was the daughter of someone called Judy Garland.
Oh my god!
she has something nobody have
Stupenda....
ty yes......
I couldn't help looking at the wire from the microphone 'cus i was a bit nervous she would step on it or maybe fall...but luckily she didn't. Good job Liza!
Theater Baby!!!
wow poor old Liza got through an entire interview without mentioning her mother once!! A record!!
It was actually interviewers who constantly asked her about her mother everywhere she went. And when people would shout out her mom's songs when Liza would come out for encores, she would say "it's been done." She did her own songs.

who hell voted dislike? just NOT vote makes you more human
This is the Liza we know.
It´s such a shame that she ruined her voice with drugs! To all the good singers out there! Your voice is a treasure! Take care of it
💎
It was probably quite appropriate for the time. Styles have changed in the past 27 years.
yeah a total stranger who thinks Liza Minnelli is a "great talent" on a youtube thread - you're really bugging me! You know so much about me!
Liza is so much like her mom and Lorna is too like Judy her Mom !
I sometimes find women with short hair very attractive. Even if they have their heads shaved, cause I gotta tell you when Natalie Portman had her head shaved in "V for Vendetta", she looked HOT!
NU YOK NU YOK!!! WITH A NEW YORK ACCENT
Judy was a lot more emotional than Liza. Liza is this broadway singer while Judy is a SINGER.
boy she really perfected it the longer she sang it, huh? the good news is she aint done singin' yet!
do you mean BARBRA S?
she screamed the whole song
and where did the polps come from??? I mean she must have had depressions otherwise she wouldn´t be a drinker! see the voice is connected to our soul! I love her to death! she is an amazing performer! Still she had a rough live with drug abuse!
poor microphone taking on so much talent I wish Judy was still alive so sad R.I.P Judy Garland
~~~~sinatra WHO?-~~~~
She and Tanya Roberts have similar voices
how would YOU know?
I love Liza, but couldn't disagree with you more. Judy had an emotional pull to her voice and music that Liza was never able to capture.
Guess you didn't see her in the concerts I did.
Frank couldn't carry a note in a bucket. he's flat in every song he sings.
Lorna, is that you?
what are you talking about?.....
i absolutely agree. too much chest voice pushed up too high and lots of laryngeal holding has ruined her voice. i saw her last december twice when her show was on broadway and even though she was vocally terrible, i couldn't stop watching. her acting and character is always so there that the voice doesn't really seem to matter. so inspiring! she really did use to have a wonderful voice when she was younger, though!
sorry - I didnt understand a word of that
why do you think I have a "mother daughter thing" ?
I wonder if Johnny Carson ever dated Judy Garland ????????????
true.. hahaha
From what you've typed in here so far I get the feeling you're not in any fit state to be handing out advice!!
are you implying I have a "mother-daughter thing"??
