God's grace means Jesus paid the price for our salvation. God planned in advance some good works for us to do, out of thankfulness ,that which is manageable.

Does the groom tell his bride she needs to prove her love. She needs to do more and be more. NO
The Church is the bride of Christ awaiting his return

Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.
    Psalms 55:22 (KJV)
Legalism is a false gospel as is the other one called Antinomianism otherwise known as the crossless gospel. Its no wonder why Paul let it be written in 1 Corinthians 1:18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness but us which are saved it is the power of God. I was reading a book by a man that passed away in 1963 called Mere Christianity, where the author of it said People often think of Christian morality as a kind of bargain in which God says, "If you keep of lot of rules I'll reward you, and if you don't I'll do the other thing. " I do not think that is the best way of looking at it. I agree with the last words Lewis said after giving that testimony, truth be told Christian morality is not a bargain in which God says those words C.S. Lewis wrote in this book. If anything if people actually believe that Christianity is that I think they have been duped and deceived by temptation and the evil enemy that temptation leads to called sin of course Legalism the false gospel that deceives people into believing that Salvation is obtained by doing works when no of course Antinomianism truth be told is just the same as legalism just flipped over. No wonder why it was written in Ecclesiastes 12:8 Vanity of vanities saith the preacher all is vanity. And if both of them are 2 sides of the same counterfeit false gospel that comes from the liar that Jehovah cursed long ago of old Christianity since its not about faking it it definitely is not supposed to be turned into a religious system of does and dont's while it is true the Spirit of Grace brings about conviction of sin which He indeed does to get people's attention Christianity is supposed to be about a relationship with God the Father through the Salvation that is found in Jesus Christ alone and not in anybody or anyone else other than Him leaving the people both believers and unbelievers both with no other choice but to repent towards God and put their faith in Christ alone for Salvation the very thing they all need considering Salvation is the only thing that can save them and set them free from the sin that caused the fall to happen all those years ago and the falling away that came many years later come to Him and turn to Him as the only Truth that can save them from the sins that got Him nailed to that cross a burden that so many of us whether we be believers that are born again and have been washed in the blood of the Son of God the Truth that died to make us free or unbelievers that have yet to be washed in it truth be told is a yoke of bondage that would become so burdensome it would become an unbearable curse that nobody could even bear to be honest about it what He went through just to save us from our sins was horrible is what it was.

1 Corinthians 2:14, from the inspired word of God, tells us His children; the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
There was a time in my life when I took this to be referencing atheists? But of late, as I try again and again to interact was those (claiming) Christianity; believers, which I’m convinced they are, but not at their core. I wonder can a natural man believe, and if so, what happens when an unregenerate person is a believer? When an Adamic doer is talked into the reality of God? When a belief is in the head, rather than the heart, and how that can be seen for what it is?
I see a number of outcomes, some do by the law, and their reliance on works is obvious. Others have been talked into sacramental salvation. Not as apparent as its purveyors will say in the early church Yashua performed these sacraments and taught His followers to do likewise. Peter feed My sheep.
Then the fruit inspectors that point to James and say; no works don’t save, but without them you’re fooling yourself. Faith without works and all that. They prove the new life in you?
Finaly those that do by doing nothing proving they have faith by a kind of anti-work view? Honestly this may be the hardest form of doing there is to identify? Certainly, the hardest to expose as doing.
I would point out that in every camp, every form proposed for what constitutes Christianity, you find believers. A distinction has to be made though, that while they all know of God, and often much about Him, while they fervently confess Him. Its uncommon in my experience for them to know Him personally.
There is no salvation without an encounter. There is no point in arguing the means of salvation with the natural man, and all men are that until they receive from God personally the new life the adoption the gift of faith that allows them to see.
Can you explain sight to a person that has never seen? Sure, but they will never really get it until they can see for themselves. You can’t know God except by knowing Him. What I see is a church full of as you say do do Christianity….sadly including those who do by not doing. Those that claim it’s all by grace and talk a good game but even so deceive themselves.
All these, by the law, by sacraments, those that work to have and display fruit, even by grace when it’s grace as they define it, are they having a form of Godliness/religion, but deny the power there of.
It is hard even as one that has encountered Him and understands His power and has walked in the Spirit to let go of self and live as a child of the adoption, so what is it for the one that has never heard Him speak, has never made the call?
I’m often asked about hearing God speak by those that will say, He has never spoken to me, why not?
What is the good news? What is the Gospel we are to bring to the world? Yes, Yashua died on a cross, was buried, and rose again, yes, He ascended and we understand He is the creator. But what in that is good news for the world? The way ….. He by His obedience opened a path for any that would to come. To approach the thrown of God and ask for salvation. Yet we must ask, we must call. There is a part for us to do and that’s it. Paul is clear or at least I find him to be clear here; all that call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. After he says so he steps back and walks the reader through just how they can call. He also finishes in Romans 10:17 with the result the way we can know we have called. As he lays it out it’s, hear of God by one that was sent to believe. Believe to call. Call to receive, and what is received is faith. So, then faith comes. If you’re one that thinks to believe, is to have faith, and there are many that do; read it again, noting belief comes first, then the call, then the gift of faith. How faith comes is by an encounter with God, and by that encounter you know you have called.
Again, to believe, you hear of Him by one that was sent.
Believing you call. (at this point there is a matter of repentance, which is to change our minds, and this is no small thing. We are sinners because we take authority which is Gods, we make ourselves our own god) A genuine belief has to recognize His power, and the lack of power in ourselves. You have to understand you have one Hope….Him. A person can hold onto a concept of God, thinking they’re a believer? So many also understand that by this they are saved? This may be why Paul points out you hear from one that was sent and not just anyone? One that has heard Him and that in hearing they were changed.
You Call, and if you do, He will answer. If not, you have not called. When you hear Him, you will know Him. Look at the scriptures that say, I never knew you? These are always believers that didn’t call.
Brothers and sisters in Adam. Please understand that faith that can save, is always a gift received from God directly. It’s not about your opinion. Belief in God is not salvation, it’s another way of doing.

If you have his phone number, I will give him a call. Until then let's remember what the word of God says about faith. Romans 12:3 says God has dealt to every man the measure of faith, but he says in 6:23 the gift of God is eternal life.
