Bought a '92 brand new that year, loved it, but then (stupid) sold it in my "quest for tone". Found another one in mint condition 15 years ago and I'll never get rid of it. Certainly not my "only amp", but these have such a unique character. The chorus on this amp is the most unique and lush I think I've ever heard. Yes, the distortion is very solid-state sounding, but if you really play with the active (yes, active!) EQ you can warm it up a lot. Takes pedals really well. This is also a great platform for newer preamps; the stereo power amp inputs allow you to plug in a preamp or modeler and get more great tones. The chorus and reverb still function if you go straight into the power amp. And yes, it's CRAZY loud.

I did the same thing by plugging a Fender Mustang III into the power amp inputs. It sounded huge. The PV Stereo Chorus 212 from the 90's is a great amp.

Super cool amp! I got my hands on one for super cheap. Unfortunately the scorpio speakers we're blown out so I replaced them with Blue Marvels. I play shoe gaze/noise/grunge rock music and everyone also mention how great the Roland JC-120 was. I owned both and I gotta say that I was blown away from the Peavey. The reverb/chorus effects are way better than the JC120 in my opinion. Great Video!

I am getting ready to start a shoegaze/post rock band/project with a friend. I have the chance to get a jazz chorus on the cheap but I also love the Peavey classic chorus. Played in a band years ago with someone who ran a KC Jagstang with the Peavey and it sounded awesome.

@@bigmuffmelvin7388 Im guitarist and play old school darkwave music (Cocteau Twins, The Garden, old Cure etc...). I have a Roland JC, I play on it with an amp2 Fender Strat, a Gibson LP Studio and a Fernandes Retrorocket. I have a multieffect but I dont use it anymore 😅 I just have a Strymon Bigsky and the built-in Chorus and its by far enough to get most of the sound of this time. If you wish more modulation you can add a Flanger (electric mistress deluxe) or a Phaser.
A tips: the in-built distortion of the JC isn't good, so if you need one, you better buy a pedal for this. I use an old OD-2 Boss made in Japan (12v) for this purpose.
Another info: I bought a Julianna Walrus Chorus which is very good but I dont use it as the built-in Chorus of the JC is the best I heard 😊

Description is incorrect. This amp has TWO 130 Watt RMS power sections for true stereo. The unit is therefore 260 watts RMS! Monster amp AND scorpion speakers. VERY loud and heavy. This amp was designed to compete with (and crush) the Roland Jazz Chorus 120.

I really enjoy your playing and styles. I've got a 1990's Peavey SC 212 that's been sitting in closets collecting dust for the last 10 years at least. I'm inspired now to break it out again. Yours has the Master Volume, mine is the teal stripped SC 212 that come out before this model that doesn't have the MV.......I wish it did.

This is hilarious. I have been amp hunting for months. Bought a deluxe reverb RI, a Vox ac15, and have been looking at a couple other options. All the while, I have one of these that works perfectly sitting in a storage unit and also have an old Classic VT series 2x12 with a tube power amp section that works just fine. Best Stereo amps ever made were the Teal stripes. Got a SC 212, Backstage 208 and a Revolution full stack, basically it is a stereo chorus 212 that can take 4 4x12 cabinets. I believe the Stereo Teal amps, in particular, will be massive collector's items down the road. I do find the digital reverb circuit a little noisy on these but there's a fantastic stereo effects loop to handle outboard gear nicely. Looking for a Classic Chorus 212 to complete my collection. Solid solid amps.

Mr. Kernan, I appreciate the review. I have this amp as a second hand purchase. It has a defect that causes intermittent squealing and feedback when I use the different digital reverb selections. My workaround is to just turn it off by leaving the LEVEL at ZERO. The authorized Peavey tech in my area said there was nothin to be done, it wasn't a case of a scratchy pot that could be cured by using an aerosol electrical-component cleaner. Do you have any suggestions for me without having it on your bench-top? Thank you.
