Can the OKC Thunder really make a run with this little playoff experience? That has been the question heading into the NBA playoffs. Nobody really expected the OKC Thunder to be this good and be on top of the Western Conference but MVP contender Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, super sophomore Jalen Williams, and Rookie of the year candidate Chet Holmgren, along with 4th year hybrid guard Josh Giddey, and the rest of the Oklahoma City Thunder young core have made winning possible. But the question is, can Coach Mark Daigneault bring the Thunder home after a successful rebuild orchestrated by Sam Presti?
Can the OKC Thunder match up well against teams like Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets, Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks, Anthony Edwards and the Timberwolves, or Kevin Durant and the Phoenix Suns in the playoffs? Chet Holmgren in particular has been the missing factor for last year’s Thunder team. But now, with the Unicorn’s rim protection and floor spacing, OKC looks like a totally different team. Holmgren has consistently been compared to Victor Wembanyama. But Holmgren is his own player although Wembanyama has been the talk of the NBA all year.
