The guy doing this video is really charming. I could watch him talk for hours.
Mike Ostrov, I would have loved to have spent some time in your shop just to learn some restoration techniques. I now do some little restoration, mainly Porsches, but my son has a Lotus Exige. Lotus cars of all generations are a thing of beauty. I still owe you money for the tickets you bought me for Sonoma Raceway. Next time I see you...
Brill! I really enjoyed that. Colin Chapman was a genius.
Congratulations, Mike ! your car is perfect and you are THE specialist of this model.
I have a Talbot Sunbeam Lotus but of course the Elite 14 is a dream for me.
Iconic car for me of the Lotus, really a pleasure to see this video 👍🎖️🎖️🎖️
Fantastic chap, knowledge and enthusiasm, I am UK Lotus owner and tend to dislike American content, but great content...and obvious love for brand
Would love to see this car featured on Jay Leno's Garage. Not enough people know the history of Lotus or how amazing this car is.
Calm informative delivery, these are still quick point to point cars even by todays standards.
Thanks
What a gorgeous car! In my opinion, the best looking Lotus ever made.
One of the most beautiful cars, period. Certainly the best-looking English car.
Great guide. Really useful and comprehensive. I’m interested in renting a lotus and seeing if I catch the bug 😊
I owned an Elite (2040 UR) in the early sixties. The advent of a small child forced the car's sale. I literally still dream about this fantastic vehicle
Given a choice between this and and an E type who would pick the Jag?
The best British cars of the 1950s, Bentley R and that Lotus.
Makes the E type jag look like a warthog.
2 very different cars
Thank you, Mike. That was a wonderful video! Cheers!
thank you so much for making this
Thanks Mike you have just made my day.
Thank you Mike for a very concise and telling storyline. Very informative and entertaining, Allan EB1911
Hey, Bob, can you turn the saw off for 2 minutes!!
Hi Mike
happy to see you again, Roland
Thank you for the video. Great cars.
He doesn't mention the problem with cracked rear suspension mounting points, and with crazing of the body around stress points. I believe modern restorers have dealt with both failings, but would love to know how.
Thanks, Mike! What a treat to stumble across this video. I hope to pay you a visit sometime soon.Stuart (EB1821)
Superb car.
Are TPU tubes available for cars? I've switched to those from butyl tubes on some of my bicycles and there is actually a noticeable difference with the lighter wheel. Innertubes for cars are so heavy. I wonder if a light tube would improve the liveliness of old cars with wire wheels.
cool car looks like fun to drive
Fascinating. Really knowledgeable chap and a cracking car. I have a Rochdale Olympic P1 that I'm currently restoring, that also has one of the first fibreglass monocoque (Lotus were the 2nd, Rochdale were the 3rd by a few months), so interested to hear about the sound deadening.
So if the Elite was not the first grp monocoque, what was?
cool!
👍❤️
