I want to do accountanting but I'm also interested in doing finance and business. Those are related fields but I haven't made up my mind on what degree I want to go for.
Generally speaking, Accountants use their degrees more than the people doing business.
And you can learn most of business through a masterclass.
So, if you're planning on getting a degree, accounting will be more useful.

Should I take an accounting class in college even though I don’t plan to major in anything related? i.e., would it be useful for personal finance/small business management?
Yes you should
Yes. Take intro accounting. Looks great on a transcript. Also, intro Micro-economics. Sadly, Macro-economics is much less useful, and much more prone to left-wing political bias. There are also intro Marketing courses that might be helpful if you will be an entrepreneur. Web development might be useful, too.

@@lucky-mud If you just care about the skills, and not the credentials, there are great books you can read about small business marketing that are even focused on your target industry! If that is all you need, then reading one good book might actually be better than a college course! :)
