Helpful video. As far as unclipping the filter (2:05 in the video) just pull the top of the tab to the outside rather than pushing the bottom in. Much easier.
Great video. Totally sucked trying it. Didnt have a flex bit for the engine filter case screw towards the front. Lost a t20 bit in the engine bay trying a twist ratchet The clip that holds the cover for the cabin filter popped out and disappeared so I could only twist lock one side. FML
Anyone think this is tough, check out the Range Rover Evoque. I had to take 1/2 the dash apart to replace and still had to fold filter in half to get it in, which damaged the filter immediately.

My X3 had star screws but otherwise pretty straightforward. It’s a hassle but I’ll take that over the labor at the dealership

Just changed both. air filter was easier but cabin filter requires you to be a contortionist! And buy a flexible Torx screwdriver.
The stealer ship wanted like 200 to change this 20 dollar filter.😅
