    Thank goodness, you are the first person (and I watched several videos on this!) who was helpful! I absolutely hate my blocks, when I bought them I didn't realise that it would be so hard to remove the sheets of paper! I damaged several using a blade. After watching your video I used a small ruler and it worked! Thank you so much!

    Thank-you SO much for posting this! I was all set to do everything wrong: exacto knife, sawing motion, hadn't noticed the unglued space at the top. I put everything down, found a metal letter opener, and it worked perfectly.

    Although I am an experienced painter, I am just about to try watercolours, and your video told me straightaway, exactly what I was wondering about, in the first instance. Thanks very much!

    This was great! I loved the mini tutorial. I definitely get impatient with the thick Fluid glue sometimes, so it was a great reminder to go slow and steady, not all saw-y.
    As to other things that could be a good tutorial, maybe how to properly wash and reshape your brushes? That's something I definitely don't do often enough. ><
    P.S. Hello, Bubba! I hope you're having some great naps. My cats are having a pretty excellent day. We had an actual, real-life, no-joke lizard who casually meandered across the screen of the bedroom window while the cats were watching! Now all of the windows are being carefully inspected to see if there might be more lizards! :D

    It helps to hold down the sheet you are cutting off, to prevent the sheet bending or tearing. For example, cutting the edges of the block covered by the cover of the block, and then, closing the cover and holding it down over the sheet (for example, on a table), while going along the other glued edges.

    And you can buy large sheets of paper and cut them down into your own block that's what I do. Or I'll buy a big pad of 30 sheets of some good paper and I can make that times four sheets if I make my block so I would have 120 sheets of paper but small enough that I could work comfortable and not so stressed about the size .

    Ohhhh now see, I am a saw-er. Or, I was! I barely ever do blocks but now I know this is a big no-no whenever I go back to them. Thanks so much for the helpful type. And grrrrrl, do I got a tale for you regarding the paints hahaha it’s late right now but I’ll try to remember to DM you tomorrow! Thanks again!

    See my first instinct is to use an exacto. I mean it's small, it's sharp...there is possibility of damage...what could go wrong? I mean if you can't say "oopsie" when holding a sharp thing...what's the fun? Seriously though...it's not like the darn thing comes with instructions! Rodents send presents of cereal milk to Bubba. Tiny Princess Ninja Rodent would like Bubba to know that Cinnamon Toast crunch is his favorite.

    • @MeowMeowKapow
      @MeowMeowKapow  5 років тому +2

      I mean, go ahead and live your life but using a blade on a block is toooootally asking to say oopsie. =>.

    • @KitarraChaosWeaver
      @KitarraChaosWeaver 5 років тому

      @@MeowMeowKapow For full disclosure, it's not the real cinnamon toast crunch. It's the healthy Sprout's brand that tastes exactly like it but is healthier! In theory. Tiny rodent gets offended if I offer him anything else.

    when you've never used a block and your art prof doesn't tell you how to get it off, so you use a box cutter and slice up all your beautiful art.....

    • @MeowMeowKapow
      @MeowMeowKapow  3 роки тому +1

      Hence the need for this video. Hopefully, it helps for next time. Also, don’t be afraid to interrupt your professor and ask questions like this; it’s their job to give you and your classmates all the information and metaphorical tools for success. Chances are, you’re not the only one who needed to know. Be the one brave enough to demand adequate information.

    I use the archers block and I find that I use so much water that the layer I’m working on starts separating from the block on its own... it’s disappointing because I pay more for the archers paper.

    • @MeowMeowKapow
      @MeowMeowKapow  5 років тому

      That’s something I hadn’t heard before, and pretty unfortunate! Cotton paper, in general, is more thirsty than cellulose paper so it should be designed to hold up to water better. I’ve used arches in both loose sheets and block and have mixed feelings on it.
