Really helpful overview of the area, thanks. I did honestly find the music quite distracting - your explanation was enough to hold my attention without the music!
From someone who has boarded in Grandvalira a few times, this is a very accurate insight to the resort. Some of the lifts can be a bit fast on exit. The lift heading towards Pasa at the top of Cubil can be quite a steep and fast exit, but if you ski then there is a pully to the right of it.
Going back next winter for my 4th trip. One thing I like about Grandvaleria is that you can always skip the ski back by taking the public bus instead - a single from Canillo to Pas is around 6 euros. Handy if less experienced members are tired out and don't fancy the 2hr ski back to Pas.
You called is "darn ugly"...My first impressions were WOW. Been to different areas in Europe and I will always think Andorra or Grandvillira in particular is a favourite.
Many people do. We have just paid £950 for a decent hotel and flights from the UK including six day ski pass. We were also in Zermatt before Christmas and met loads of Americans and Canadians. They ski in Europe every year
A way to get off the chair (14:17). Take both poles with 1 hand when you touch down on the landing slop, half standing but don't try to ski off the chair yet. Put a hand on the edge of the chair where you were sitting (since you're not sitting on it) to get ready to push yourself away and let the chair keep pushing you forward until you have enough speed, then give a little push with you hand on the chair. That should get you off every time without getting hit by the chair. This works well especially with fast lifts. But even if you fall, you would be falling on the place beyond the reach of the chair (as the worse place to fall is on the path of the chair).
Great vid, so informative. Went to Andorra pre covid for my first ski trip...went to Switzerland this March but preferred Andorra. How would you compare Andorra to France or Austria which i'm tempted to try. A few people who I met on the Andorra trip said they prefer Andorra over the other european destinations....
Austria every time but more expensive. Great apres ski and some resorts are quite low. We avoid France. Very expensive on the slopes and not as welcoming. Andorra takes some beating for value and a decent altitude. That said we are going to Cervinia tomorrow. 2000m with loads of snow and £450 half board. Ski pass for all areas is £305. Favourite if conditions are good is Saalbach in Austria. One long party.
@@steveslifereviews thanks so much for the reply. anywhere in Austria you'd recommend? low intermediate level. also i've used companies like Neilson and Inghams, any others you might recommend? cant wait for your vid on Cervinia, have a great trip.... Subscibed
@@a4med I would recommend Saalbach but not many companies have accommodation there. I generally book through Crystal , but you will find sunweb often have some really good deals which include ski pass.
Great video! so If I want to get from pas de la casa all the way to - 'Gall de Bosc', which runs and lifts do I need to take for a begginer? meaning blue runs or a bit of an easy red? thanks!
This was a great video to watch - I haven’t skiied Soldeu since the late ‘80’s & at that time there was only rumours of it one day being linked up to Pas de la Casa. And El Tarter was the furthest East you could go too!

This has to be the best ski resort review and guide I have ever watched, so in-depth and didn’t get bored once keep it up!
Thanks Maisey

Good point.
Never tried it but worth knowing

Yes, it’s a decent resort but compared to some of the pretty Austrian and French villages it is still darn ugly.
Very nice and instructive video! Thank you so much. I'm planning to go there this February
Pleasure. Hope the snow is good
Great video Steve. Tempted to visit all the way from North America.

This is a brilliant review and so very helpful. Thanks so much 👍
Great video, going back to pas at the beginning of March fornthe first time in 20 years , great to watch as a refresher toothed area.
Great enjoy.
Looking dodgy at the moment.
I am back there in two weeks
This is a REALLY good, useful review and informative. Well done. Music was repetitive though.
This is another great ski vlog and I’ve only watched 11 seconds.
Glad you enjoyed it
Great video and review!
A great review thank you 🙏
This video is excellent, so helpful for our upcoming trip! Would give it 10 thumbs up if I could, thank you 🤩
GREAT VIDEO M8

Sorry. I don’t have a piste map to hand.
I think most of it is covered in the video but local conditions may dictate your route.
It would be super helpful if you referred to the lifts or pistes by name or printed them as text on the video so we could see them on the map.
Less then 2 weeks for me 😁💪
Hi, great video, did you have to get permission to use the drone?? Im heading to Pas next week and would love to take mine!
No. My son just sent the drone up.
Have a great week
I have also flown my own drone no problem there
What month was this shot?
Late January
“Pie-re-knees” 💀
Soldeu - pronounced Soll-DAY-O
As you worked out I wasn’t sure and pronunciations changed throughout the week.
And even then I never got it right.

Informative, but I'll never go there, or any other ski resort for that matter.
Thanks for your comment. It is very helpful
