At age 73.5 now, I have heard a lot of music. Even Woodstock 69 but, this song ranks among the most beautiful and emotional in my life. Thank you for posting and thank you Cat Stevens.
I remember this Hymn from when I was a small boy 60 years ago, however I like Cat Stevens version much better. From Google: "Morning Has Broken" is a Christian hymn first published in 1931. It has words by English author Eleanor Farjeon and was inspired by the village of Alfriston in East Sussex, then set to a traditional Scottish Gaelic tune, "Bunessan". It is often sung in children's services and in funeral services.
God Bless you Yusaf! I remember singing this in an Episcopal Church in the late 60's. This song has such emotional impac, it can have a purpose to awaken your faith and vision of Gods Grace.
I am 65 years old. Do much of music from these times resonate with me. I am not s morning person but happen to be up at 6:32 Central Time and thought of this song ❤
This song fills me with sensory overload. I wanted to start my day singing to this today, but I was too choked up to sing more than just a few words. God bless you for posting this here for the edification and enjoyment of so many. This was the #1 song when my husband and I were first married. According to the Bible, followers of the Creator are promised a return to the pristine creation in the resurrection. This is thanks to the obedient Christ reconciling all trusting sinners to God, his Father. The New Testament teaches that all creation groans in anticipation of this renewal. [See Romans, chapter 8.]
Ah, sitting in Art Class, Sr. Sheila R.I.P allowed us to bring our own music in while we worked. I haven't heard this for decades, and it brings back lots of memories of the Salesian Convent School.
This reminds me of the old golden days when my father used to listen to this beautiful song and i sat beside him but now he is no more.up to this day i still recall the memory sitting with my father when listening to this wonderful song. Thanks to the composer and the singer for giving us a chance to dream along with the flow of the music.
I remembered singing this hymn at the St. John’s Anglican school . We had deviation every morning . Mrs . St. Paul playing the piano . All the teachers and students singing.
God!!! It's just a wonderful song... My God, I started to cry just from the first chord of the guitar... WOW!!! It's straoght from the heart, incredible voice, Thank you so much
My mother always loved this song. Anytime that I would play Cat Stevens' album and this song came on, she would always have me turn it up. We played it for her again for the final time at her memorial service.
My mother loved this song too. I read your comment that you played it at her Memorial service. I am sorry for your loss. As I am putting together my mother's Memorial service now, I too think she would love this song. It brought tears just listening. Peace to you.
Rejoice on this Easter Day..He has Risen."We may be quarantined but Christ is not. Our Lord's heart is open to everyone. Remembering loved ones who have passed and those that remain sick during this time of trial and testing."..renew our faith in His Love."Archbishop Jose Gomz
I remember singing this at school assembly, many years ago. I love it sung by Cat Stevens; he sings it so beautifully. It reminds of my friend who loved this sung by Cat, she passed away some time ago and I always think of her when I hear it.
Each morning of our lives on earth, a new morning, like the First Morning. This call of Cat Stevens invites us to a new chance to be kind and patient with all and to love God.
I've played this on the piano/keyboard for years, it's made it into one of my hymnals. I tried to listen with an open mind, since this is a slightly different arrangement than I'm used to. As a teen from the 80s, had never heard this till now when I set out to hear it. I love the song, and from what I know Cat Stevens did popularize it, but the way he pronounces "recreation" on the final line reveals he hasn't the foggiest the root meaning of the word, and more importantly, how it is being used in this composition. God created everything, and recreation, or rather re-creation is our being renewed and re-created, and I definitely expect anyone singing this to understand that and so, he definitely did Not "stick the landing," IMHO, but the rest of the song was really good. Still somewhat a surprise I've never heard it played on the radio or in stores or restaurants. I listened to oldies as a teen, and anything folk or classic rock 70s was being ignored, true. I might hear some of that stuff played now at Ruby Tuesdays, for instance, but a song about giving praise to God, not the exact genre as the rest of the music, I guess.
Regarding you having not heard the song played much on the radio, I'm reminded that the satan is the "prince of the power of the air" and doesn't want music aired that praises God. Regarding re-creation, there are several places in Ps. 119 and elsewhere that refer to God renewing us, and how.
Three lovely women (mother and her two daughters) from the church choir sang this at my late husband’s service. Their voices were so angelic. It was the most beautiful version I had ever heard. And, it was in 1981.
To hear the words of this song, being accompanied by glorious immages of God's creation, whose heart would not be moved? How can anyone thumb down this song, unless they have a heart of stone?! Thank you dear Cat 😺Lady for posting this beautiful video 💓
Beautiful visuals... perfect accompaniment to the lyrics. One of my favorite songs. I sang it long ago while hiking through the jungles of Southeast Asia.
Sprung in completeness where his feet pass, it Was after Vietnam that I noticed this song and each morning for a while every time I started towards Fort Bragg I would hear this great song and it gave me a certain peace that is beyond hard to define.
I love this beautiful hymn that Cat Stevens made popular in the 1970’s The Bible says God’s mercies are new every morning....🌅 Every evening God would come down and visit Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden until they fell into sin and became separated from God and were cast out of the garden. For the plan of salvation was already known by God before the foundation of the world. He knew man would fall, and he knew there had to be a way to bring man back to God. Jesus said unto him, I am the way, I am the truth and the life, no man comes to the Father, but by me” Matthew 7:14.... Cat Stevens covereted to Islam in 1977. He now lives in Dubai. I pray the spirit of God will draw him to Jesus for the salvation of his soul 🍃💜🍃🙏🍃✝️🍃🕊 .
