First interview I listen to from Chamath and I don’t know much about him. But he sounds like a software guy who’s really good at sales. But like he also doesn’t take basic principles of physics into consideration. He mentions instant communication with mars for instance, but depending on the position relative to the sun and earth light takes about 3 to 22 minutes to reach the other side (mars to earth or vice versa). Also somehow adding more Nvidia processor racks creates materials endlessly more light and powerful than steel and titanium and aluminium.

I don’t normally comment here, but I’m wondering if other people agree with these guys on the legalization of drugs. The cities with the least drug laws are some of the worst places to live in United States if not the worst places to live in the United States is that a coincidence??
I think people saw Portugal have success in drug decriminalization. My understanding is that the places in America that decriminalized drugs did so without proper rehabilitation programs.
I can’t say with certainty how best to weaken cartels (cause weakening organized crime is the argument for green lighting drugs)……but before we entertain the idea of legalizing drugs I think we could be way more proactive throwing wrenches in the gears of drug traffickers. I don’t think we could stop it….but I do think we could deter them from wanting to be in our market if we were sincere about it I would have stealthy teams hitting their production spots, their distribution channels, their accounts and attorneys that launder their proceeds ….don’t get me wrong it would be a nightmare….cause cartels would pull levers and we would have people on their team hurting us from within the states But in simple terms we’re clearly not trying to end the drug trade and higher ups within the US likely help to organize it. I see the argument for legalization and I could maybe be sold on it. But I’d rather treat them like terrorists and f em up. If viewed through that lense, they’ve done 100+ times more damage to our hemisphere than terrorists have
@@JosephHenry-l5eone of my single biggest disagreements is him continually referencing “Dr Carl Hart” every time the topic comes up….i have to fast forward it every single time 1 smart dude downplaying addictive drugs shouldn’t make you quote him for years. @@davidaldridge5716 Adults should be allowed to do whatever they want with their own bodies. I don't do hard drugs but if someone wants to that's not my choice or the governments.
There is no such thing as a temporary government program. Income tax used to be 5% and was supposed to be a temporary tax. Universal basic income is a terrible idea. Tech billionaires want UBI because they want to replace labor workers with robots. And they understand there will be civil unrest where people come for them when that happens. The UBI is a bribe.
The problem with drugs is not the original, natural substance, but the refined, concentrated, industrialized versions. People have chewed coca leaves for centuries, millennia probably, without becoming addicts. But when refined into cocaine, it's a different story. We're seeing this now with cannabis. Once a nearly harmless natural flower, it is being turned into concentrates that bear little resemblance to the natural product. Which brings us to fentanyl, an artificial heroin, itself a refined version of opium. Opium is perhaps the strongest of the "big three" natural drugs, with significant addictive properties. But it doesn't hold a candle to the problems fentanyl has caused. If you want to "make all drugs legal," I highly advise making only the natural versions legal. Concentrates and refined versions dangerously and needlessly raise the stakes.
We had a compost pile. We'd toss whole potatoes on it that had gotten soft and begun sprouting eyes. Some of the potatoes would start growing leaves and my dad would transplant them into his garden. You can grow them from cuttings but they tend to rot if they get too damp.
This was such a small part of the show at the very beginning, but I need to address it. I'm an adult male who was diagnosed with adhd as a kid. My parents refused to accept that and definitely didn't want me to take medication. I am now rediagnosed as an adult and I have started medication to help it. I was fine as a kid. Certain stuff was effected by my lack of focus and hyperactivity and lack of impulse control, but most stuff was fine and I dont think children need adhd meds. That being said from the time I turned 18 and went out into the world to make my way, my adhd destroyed my life. Adhd isn't a disease or condition, it's an evolutionary characteristic meant to help hunters and warriors be better at their jobs. We are no longer hunters or warriors and so those characteristics are no longer necessary and are even detrimental to certain aspects of modern life. My point being that as long as modern life doesn't make space for those of us with this personality type we will always end up depressed and anxious and less able to be productive members of society without medication to slow us down and focus us. I was unable to function as an adult for most of my life. Therapy has helped, And I'm sure over a long enough time period I wouldn't have needed medication. Unfortunately I am in my 30s and I dont have 10 years to get my life in order with therapy alone. I need the medication. In the 1 year I have taken medication my energy, impulse control, and ability to focus my mental and physical momentum towards a better life instead of in random directions. I take breaks from my adderall because I am fearful of addiction, and even during these breaks my mind functions better than before. These medications are effective when implemented properly and misuse and over prescribing is the problem.
@RBRCbashem my hobbies are blacksmithing and woodworking. A fun day to me is hiking out onto my property with an axe, finding a nice straight hickory or white oak. Taking it down, cutting it into pieces, carrying it back to my home, then further processing it with handtools for whatever purpose it will serve. I garden, occasionally keep livestock, and i run around after my 2 children. I exercise regularly, I eat pretty well, and my sleep could be better but it isn't atrocious. I drink literal gallons of water a day. I meditate regularly. And I could go on and on about all of the things that are supposed to help. And It has helped. But it has never been enough. As I said in my original comment. medications are over prescribed and it's a problem. But some of us have actually put in the work and exhausted our options.
Maybe if everyone didn't have to work 97 hrs a week to make sure the irs gets their new pew pews..... they could be picking up trash and what not. That'd be cool.

JESUS CHRIST OF NAZERETH would be the ultimate guest. Although some would say he is with Joe all the time.
But yes let's get the southpark guys first

First interview I listen to from Chamath and I don’t know much about him. But he sounds like a software guy who’s really good at sales. But like he also doesn’t take basic principles of physics into consideration.
He mentions instant communication with mars for instance, but depending on the position relative to the sun and earth light takes about 3 to 22 minutes to reach the other side (mars to earth or vice versa). Also somehow adding more Nvidia processor racks creates materials endlessly more light and powerful than steel and titanium and aluminium.
He used to warn about the danger of social media/AI - now he's selling it. It's a very odd change - I wonder how much he's being paid for this change.
He's a well known scammer
It's hard to watch Rogan's show for 5 minuets. I end up watching all day. I can see why Joe has been so successful. Joe is not simply being kind he is deeply engaged. I love that.
i miss when there was a livestream of JRE.
As soon as they stopped the podcast went to shit.
They had too

I like Chamath, great guest 😊
Great guest. This is my 3rd listen b/c I was working during the 2 initial listenings and had my attention divided.
3rd time I’m watching at home b/c I’m seeking the part where Chamath mentions #ZeroBasedBudgeting @2:07:02 how Private Equity firms operate companies budgets so I can take note and learn more about that business.
Did he talk about his love for grifting.
Good to see Chamath Palihapitiya on the show! Thank you for inviting him.
Chamath - thank you for your sensible, intelligent and imaginative solutions. It stirred up a spark of hope ✨

@@RommyAli Yep. The irony is, UA-camrs and Podcasters spread much more fake news and obvious propaganda lies, because they don’t have to worry about getting sued, like Legacy Media outlets do.
Just look at FoxNews, who tried to appeal to online political fans by spreading the Dominion lies… and had to pay 787 million bucks for it, while the podcasters who pushed it had zero repercussions.

Incorrect Joe. People DO in fact use Fent on purpose.
The sad thing is it’s what they’re looking for now. They don’t even want herion anymore like they did in the good ole days

all should listen to the last 30 minutes of this pod. Great message on the state of the election. The message not the messenger! The policy not the politician! sensible immigration and border policies coming from someone that followed the rules the right way.
Are you kidding me? Trump’s message? He talks constantly about prosecuting his political enemies and extracting revenge. He can’t even articulate a “plan”. The only person in his ticket with a “plan” is VANCE, and his “plan” is project 2025.
if only his candidate followed rules..
This guy speaks like he believes the government is honest is has our best interests in mind

so he admits he was slow on the uptake on Trump, admits he was totally surprised by him as a person upon meeting him, yet somehow is still surprised about media bias and is trying to tow their line? amazing how rich you can get with so little self reflection
There are some real problems . Fake electors scheme being a big one
Huh? When did he say he was suprised about media bias? Maybe I missed it but I’ve seen this guy a good amount and he def knows what’s going on…maybe he was being a little careful here and trying to be overly fair. Oh, he talked about believing the medias lies about Trump..sometimes it takes one domino to fall and all the others come crashing down too
I don’t normally comment here, but I’m wondering if other people agree with these guys on the legalization of drugs. The cities with the least drug laws are some of the worst places to live in United States if not the worst places to live in the United States is that a coincidence??
I think people saw Portugal have success in drug decriminalization. My understanding is that the places in America that decriminalized drugs did so without proper rehabilitation programs.
One of my biggest disagreements with Joe is on his stance on drugs. Drugs never did any society any good.
I can’t say with certainty how best to weaken cartels (cause weakening organized crime is the argument for green lighting drugs)……but before we entertain the idea of legalizing drugs I think we could be way more proactive throwing wrenches in the gears of drug traffickers. I don’t think we could stop it….but I do think we could deter them from wanting to be in our market if we were sincere about it
I would have stealthy teams hitting their production spots, their distribution channels, their accounts and attorneys that launder their proceeds ….don’t get me wrong it would be a nightmare….cause cartels would pull levers and we would have people on their team hurting us from within the states
But in simple terms we’re clearly not trying to end the drug trade and higher ups within the US likely help to organize it.
I see the argument for legalization and I could maybe be sold on it. But I’d rather treat them like terrorists and f em up. If viewed through that lense, they’ve done 100+ times more damage to our hemisphere than terrorists have
@@JosephHenry-l5eone of my single biggest disagreements is him continually referencing “Dr Carl Hart” every time the topic comes up….i have to fast forward it every single time
1 smart dude downplaying addictive drugs shouldn’t make you quote him for years. Especially if you know how horrific addiction is…..I’d be more likely to compare it to mental slavery or turning into a werewolf (cause you come undone withdrawing after a certain amount of time
So to me it’s harmful to make that process seem like it’s overstated and not a huge deal ….i mean a 2-3 year addiction can affect a person for the next 20 years of their life or end them all together
If you want to act relaxed about weed or psychedelics go for it but heroin and cocaine are nothing to down play
@@davidaldridge5716 Adults should be allowed to do whatever they want with their own bodies. I don't do hard drugs but if someone wants to that's not my choice or the governments.
The best way to get companies and people to do the right thing is to make it profitable for them to do so.
There is no such thing as a temporary government program. Income tax used to be 5% and was supposed to be a temporary tax. Universal basic income is a terrible idea. Stop trying to take care of everyone. No one needs anybody else to figure stuff out for them. Stop treating adults like children. Give me my fvcking money back.
Truth
Tech billionaires want UBI because they want to replace labor workers with robots. And they understand there will be civil unrest where people come for them when that happens. The UBI is a bribe.
Scammy Chammy should focus more on his SPACs failing than going on JRE.
Investors don’t think about their failed investments all day
Gary Goodridge wants to do JRE, and we want to see true legend talk about the beginnings.
Great observation, and similar to our issue with processed food / refined sugars.
I think most dope addicts would prefer to have heroin over Fent/tranq.

Bro. Find a new career. Plenty of stuff out there for people like you.
ADHD isn't real, if it didn't exist 50 years ago it's exclusively a product of our culture!
Well conveyed Sir. May the force be with you on your journey 👊🏿.
Well said but…exercise fixes a lot of these issues. Physical hobbies. Glad you figured it out though 👍🏼
