  • The Charlotte Hornets are embracing change! Thanks to the new FO and coaching staff, the Hornets were able to bring all their players to Vegas summer league to cheer on their summer league team. LaMelo, Miles, Brandon and more were all in attendance! Is this a sign of change in the Hornets culture?

    I know you already mentiond that you saw Cody afterwards but I want to mention that at the end of the game the camera was following NSJ off the court and Cody came up to him, dapped him up and talked to him for a while. I noticed it because I thought it was really cool that the whole team was there supporting

    Joel Soriano is missing. He just signed an exhibit 10 contract with the Hornets but I'm yet to see or hear he's played in the Summer league.

    Salaun is what NickSmith Jr & Giannis were coming in. Their muscle twitches faster than their brains can keep up.
    Now NSJ seems to have slowly found the sweet spot where he's now more controlled & plays within the flow of the game.
    Now Salaun needs to tighten his handle. More reps with long shooting. And learning to hone his "Energizer Bunny" energy ... from there it'll just come together.

    Dude once again, how did we get Tre Mann, and micic, and damn josh green, for basically free??? Am I overestimating their value?
    And how did Nick smith Jr drop so far last draft? Like either we are getting really lucky, or I’m just blinded by the hope of having a good team.

      Part of operating a small market franchise successfully is taking advantage of win-now GMs to acquire assets. I just hope we are done with firesales to tank and are more focused on adding talent and proven winners to our young core.

      OKC wanted cap space to get off of their contracts in one year so they traded Tre and Micic who had longer contracts. Josh Green was probably not going to get much minutes in Dallas and his contract is pretty big so 2 seconds was enough to take his contract

    • @woomington
      @woomington 2 місяці тому

      @@sammcglynn5625 yeah OKC was clearing space to draw in a larger talent for the backcourt or the front court, but they had plenty of room to work with giving the youth of their contracts. So I’ll say they made space for Caruso, and their draft picks, who are solid. But they either could’ve got more for all these players, or kept tre mann at the very least. Now the nuggets really want micic and there’s been trade talks already this whole year about him. Plenty of teams would’ve taken bertans contract just to drop him.
      Now josh green on the other hand is not a full steal because he’s making about 12million, but I’d pay that 12 million for the defence alone, plus he can knock down the 3, move really good in transition and finish in the paint, absolutely no offense to luka kyrie or klay thompson, but neither of them will match the defensive presence he brought the mavs.
      So basically what I’m saying is, OKC is a monster at drafting talent, but it seems they let so much talent go for basically nothing, no significant upgrades, so that’s a shocker because their management is so good. And the mavs are in the same boat, everyone is seeing klays downfall all around, not just shooting, and they drop the defensive motor catalyst for 12million, to sign klay thompson for 16million? It doesn’t make sense to me unless they know something I don’t.
      Micic, tre Mann, grant Williams,and josh green are some of our top tier players, and we didn’t invest or develop any of them.
      We developed Lamelo ball, miles bridges, Nick smith Jr, mark Williams, and Nick richards, Cody Martin, (Malik monk, pj Washington, Jalen mcdaniels).
      So basically we’ve had talent and had solid pieces but had holes in our size, or our depth, or our coaching, or our youth, or our vets. This past 2 years of moves trades and drafts we balled tf out. I’m usually the practical hornets fan and I never over hype myself because I could always point out our flaws. But other than the health of our main players, we don’t have any large flaws. We have depth everywhere and probably gonna be the fastest team in the nba next to the kings celtics Knicks and sixers. Considering we were basically last in transition last season, I bet we will be top 5 with this new squad. We are making the playoffs for sure.

    Just so we’re all clear there can be no culture shift to embrace if you’re willing to resign a player who beat the crap out of his partner multiple times in front of their children. Miles doesn’t belong on an NBA court…c’mon meow

    • @TrustTheBuzz
      @TrustTheBuzz  2 місяці тому

      @@broadfjord7087 I think unfortunately you got to understand the difference. We are talking winning culture compared to morality culture. I don’t think anyone here is excusing Miles for what he did but unfortunately famous people mostly don’t get disciplined for things like that. Also the mother of his children said he deserved a second chance and gave the team the ok to resign Miles. I think that’s all the Hornets were looking for.

      @@TrustTheBuzz winning culture and morality culture are one and the same, you cannot have one without the other. All too often people are willing to overlook terrible things that players do, that they know are wrong because of the talent/skills a player has. That says a lot about who they are as humans and reflects as such on all who would do so.

    • @TrustTheBuzz
      @TrustTheBuzz  2 місяці тому +1

      @@broadfjord7087 I think that’s famous people culture as a whole. While Miles actions are unforgivable, the team probably felt as though permission from her was enough to get him back. She said this publicly that she wanted him back in the league. While the team still had a decision to make, as fans of the team there really isn’t much we can do in regard to that. I’m not saying you’re wrong for believing he shouldn’t be on the floor but it’s one of those things that it’s bigger than all of us. Because what’s going on with Miles is a big issue for almost all people of some notoriety. They have a different set of rules than you and I do.

    Salaun has the confidence and talent to be a really good player. The Hornets have a history of destroying players' confidence. I don't think they can do that to Salaun. He'll just go to the Spurs if it doesn't work in Charlotte.
