Jim, I think it would be worth taking that radio somewhere where you wouldn't be bombarded by all that oppressive RF interference that's so prevalent in and around your shop - and give it a try under more favorable conditions. Give it a real chance, and I think you'd be really impressed by it's performance.
Dave M Even under these circumstances the radio should perform better. It appears deaf to me which may be caused by his eeny-meeny-moe twiddling of random IF filter cores two videos ago or contact problems in the Antenna path switchover. You have to remember that due to the ability of being used as a car radio, there is a mechanical switchover from internal ferrite rod and stick antenna to an external car antenna which is supplied via the multi pin connector on the bottom of the radio. That "car mount switchover switch" should have been taken care of along with the rest of the band switches (including LW !). Honestly speaking he did not even perform the minimalist service on this radio like cleaning all(!) the mechanical switches (with proper contact cleaner, but that is a story in itself).
he's the Master That he did not "fix" it is not entirely true. Two videos ago on his eeny-meeny-moe quest for FM realignment he messed with the final AM IF filter (the single core one with the red dot). And that one has not been properly readjusted, which may be one reason the radio is performing less than optimal on all AM bands.
Definitely bad capacitors in the FM circuit

Internet killed the radio show.
Impressive you got it back together without killing it.

Actually a great performing radio. Glad he couldn't try "fixing" it!

Great bass
oh wow this radio sounds so good, what a deep bass and great highs, what a great job, congratulations wow amazing
Great video and nice radio too. Don't spend your 15cents all in one place.
