    I watch many of these episodes of duty and Valour and this just shows me that those that choose who gets a MOH got it all wrong with this one. He was the example of what it takes to be a Marine in combat and deserved nothing less than a Medal of Honour

      Too many times the recommendation and approval process gets overly politized.

    You keep wrongly saying Gunnery Sgt. He was a 1st LT in 1950.

      @DutyandValor  Місяць тому +3

      Are you referring to the short story at the beginning about SgtMaj Canley? He was a Gunnery Sgt at the time of his Medal of Honor action. Also, he was never a commissioned officer.

    And racial prejudice denied him the MOH

      How do you know that? Many of these actions that award the Navy Cross or the Distinguished Service Cross are gone over multiple times throughout the following years to see whether they rate the MOH. I'd be shocked to find out that his actions that awarded him the Navy Cross hadn't been gone over to see if they rated the upgrade to MOH by all the different administrations since Truman.

    Stop with the Asian nonsense. This honorable man was Japanese! Japanese are distinct people! It is an insult to lump far eastern people under a single banner! Each regards themselves as unique people with different language manners, customs, and history.

    • @DutyandValor
      @DutyandValor  Місяць тому +4

      That’s a passionate stance, but completely incorrect. His mother and father emigrated from China. The Chinese are not considered Japanese. They have separate cultures and shouldn’t be lumped in as Japanese.

      Did you watch the same video as the rest of us?...... This man is Chinese and I believe it's in your best interest to not mix them up, especially if you're talking to a Chinese person or for that matter a few other Asian Nationals.

      @jason-hy8ci no native Japanese or Chinese or Korean regard themselves as one people group. If you have been exposed to these distinct people groups, you would know that. You need to get out more, my friend. This Asian category is of a recent origin and is not recognized in any of the above-mentioned nations. You will never hear a Korean native identify him or herself as Asaian. The same goes for Japanese and Chinese people. The same goes for Vietnamese as well. But thanks for the anthropology lesson anyway.
