Another example of an indie/AA game that embarrasses its AAA competitors who have 10x the budget and none of the passion. AAA gaming is a lifeless corporate husk, aside from the few rare studios.
Plenty of amazing games still, lies of P was a fucking masterpiece but idk if it's considered AAA ?
It's not all dark and gloomy, but nowadays it's more about how to make money from the game than making a great game...

Yeah but its not a game id & most people wont consider playing because its not AAA. It looks inferior to other souls like in every way.
the message about pollution in this game never feel forced on you it's the perfect way to do it.
And more importantly, the game is actually good.
People get less angry when you don’t sacrifice quality for the sake of a message.
People just want good games, and if the game is not good they feel ripped off, and get angry.
Some people will still hate the messaging, but most people don’t care as long as they get to play a fun game.
Good because im sure having a message was just a marketing gimmick to make more money

This is unironically one of the best Souls-likes ever
I love all the hidden references. Asmon found one of the costumes, corrupted keeper of the flame iirc. But there is also a sunshine knight outfit, and also a knight’s helmet as a shell. There are probably even more references.
I like that it had TWO poison swamp areas, it had a version of ‘horse fuck valley’, and it had mimics in the form of angler fish and the moo shell hermit crab boss.
Honestly if it stopped where we thought it stopped people would be happy, but it really went and one-upped itself. Gg

I thought it was obvious. The first time we met the prawn, he said, "God, this hermit is still following me?" It implies that the prawn was the shark.
The real home was the shells that protected us along the way.
you have to give the guy credit for beating the game with only dodging AND using very bad shells to do this even. He made it so hard for himself, but still managed to beat it.
But it was probably for the better, because just blocking does make the game very very easy
Skedaddle works pretty well for this playstyle he chose, but he didn't even used that despite the heavy shells. Really put himself on hard mode.

We need indie games to rise in popularity so we can have more games like this one or better. Things like Eastward and this game could bring in more people to the indie scene.
I think Hollow Knight, Celeste, Doki Doki Literature Club, Undertale and Hades already showed many people that indie games are the future. And I’m super glad that games like this are continuing to show that games CAN still be immensely creative and new, and don’t have to be consumed by corporate greed

This is the only souls-like game I ever found interesting enough to watch from start to finish. While I do like watching the genre, everyone knows we are usually here to watch the bosses. This game was just too fucking cool though man.
its ironic how asmon’s intentional scuffing of his reading comprehension to entertain us is actually making his overall reading comprehension worse when he’s actually trying to read properly. it really showed in this one. but its content either way 😂

Dude, the praya dubia fight gives me goosebumps, the lines, the voice acting was absolutely PERFECT
And to think this many microplastics are in the ocean without Asmon regularly bathing… could you imagine how much worse it would be if he did?
The barnacle encrusted crabs in the old ocean remind me of Iron Knuckles from Zelda, where you break their armour off and they get faster with lower defence.
"This was awesome" the game devs are probably gonna play that on repeat for a while, I really hope crab-like catches on just because I hate the repetitiveness of soul-likes all being medieval dark fantasies, make more animated crab games! with platforming aspects
Asmonpapa never came across it in his playthrough but when the Prawn shows up for the first time. You can find one loan shark buried behind the Prawn shop. The Prawn was the loan shark all along

Please take a look at pantheon rise of the fallen next. They listened to you and updated the graphics. Very different look now.
Since he dosent parry or guard his playing style would have been better just maxing attack stats first then maybe health he could have a way easier time id much rather watch a second play through when he actually knows what to do be alot more fun
It's a great game, but man there's a lot of bugs. I hope they patch it soon despite me also being finished. I ran into an insane bug about every 10 minutes in my playthrough lol
i finished mine without having any bugs tho.. except the one where u go flying randomly, but that's rare.
On the boss at the end of the bleached area I parried one of his bubbles and got sent flying through the building and I flew so far it took me a good 30 seconds to fall out of the map and die

I'm not much of a souls like player, and not much of an environmentalist if at all, but this game does so much good, that it makes me care a bit, I'm not saying I won't not use plastic for the sake of the environment but it's good to be aware of it
as for the story as a whole, it had me wanting to hear out the whole thing, it was so good, and flowed so smoothly, just guiding you along at such a pace where you clearly know what is going on at all times
the combat looked fairly simple to follow along with and the game for the most part plays fair it doesn't try to punish you for playing how you want all that much, I could see this as good souls game for casual gamers
How is this a kids game if they say "shit" and "COD DAMN" so much??

I just 100% the game last night and skipped right to the end to see asmons take. I loved it beginning to end and glad he enjoyed. The political message and narrative was perfect. Like asmon said, it had a message that was clear, but didn't patronize the viewer.
