- He's got a cool visor, a slightly asymmetrical design, and an awesome theme! He uses the same moves you do with a twist! You have a shared legacy! Even his idle stance is a reflection of Kai's with switched open/closed hands! I love mirror fights like this and couldn't help but stall to bean him with his own thrown block.
Nega's got a couple of moves that punish you for lingering in the air for too long, and he's the only boss in the game that can randomly dodge out of your normal attacks after being struck, but the hit that causes it still deals damage, so you can get some hefty damage on him for staying just barely out of his reach, whether that means getting behind him, using up-air attacks as his own jumps and divekicks graze by, and chasing with some safe hooks as he dodges away. He’ll never dodge in the air, either, so every aerial you sneak in adds up! The blocks he throws do a whopping 3 damage if you can return them, but he has to be in the middle of an attack, or else he'll catch and throw them back at you.
Nega's version of Flying Strike puts him in the air even if you stay completely grounded, but it's impossible to slide under it!
His Shoryureppa Rising Upper combo can be avoided by simply having enough distance to run away, by running under the second hit to escape the third if you don't have much space, or by quickly grappling or walljumping out of the way if he starts it while you're cornered.
Heavenly Piledrive is almost always preceded by him dodging towards you; you can space it or jump out of the way, but beware - he can start up any other attack immediately after it whiffs!
Catch Interrupt dissuades you from whaling on him between attacks, but it's also a free opportunity to hook him or line up a burst of your own.
Featured at the end of the video is the result of being hit by Chain Dasher right as you defeat him on v1.06 - you're stuck stunned and the game is softlocked; can't even pause... I haven't had it happen between the second and third phases, but I presume in that situation, you'd be able to revert to checkpoint or wait for him to hit you with something else.
I should've stalled to let the best part of his theme kick in... • Gravity Circuit Origin...
Amazing video mate! You're the only person I've found playing the game as it should be... quick and clean with a flair of style.
those last few clips were insane
i didn't even know gravity circuit _had_ bugs
good job on these. the fact that you didn't even take a really conservative route is pretty telling of your confidence in this.
Operative word "had" bugs - almost every bug I've found has been fixed already! What's left over is either inconsequential or healthily beneficial.
Thank you! There were several attempts on this to make it sure it was showy enough for my standards; a safe perfect would look a little different and would especially minimize the use of hooks on the ground. For example, if he decides to do a jumping hook while you're attempting to hook him, and yours whiffs, you'll frequently get punished for it - but it looks cool when it works so I HAD to go for it
Beautiful gameplay
How do I increase my HP? I have been playing with only base HP. 😢
There's health/burst capacity upgrades in each of the 8 main stages; they're more difficult to find than most of the rescues
How did you get free upgrades at the checkpoints?
Clearing the game marks that save as cleared on the file select and removes repair costs from all stages. You don’t need to fulfill any other conditions
