I picked up this and too many bones at the same time. And I've only tabled tmb so far and I played that for literally 7 hours straight! Such an amazing achievement in game design

Hah! Yeah, I picked up TMB Undertow the other day and ended up playing till like 3am and didn't even realize it. Work was a drag the next morning, but it was great fun!

Really need to get this to the table. Painting is taking my hobby space at the moment, but need to get this going soon!!

Too bad we never ended up getting that Metal Gear Solid stealth game, it’s my favorite genre of video game, but I think I’m with you in thinking that stealth might just never transfer over well to a boardgame space.

Best review for the game I've seen so far. I agree with another commenter who said that it's not their best game, and because it doesn't reach the level of, say, Too Many Bones and Hoplomachus, it's a pass from me. I felt the same way about Cloudspire.

    Solid review, as always!
On stealth in board games, if skirmish holds any interest you might check out Chrome Hammer Ascension (Nordic Weasel on Wargame Vault.) Similar theme except you have a team of humans going up against the corporate bad guys. Each character has a numeric stealth rating that degrades through "scanning" (search) actions by the bad guys. They first need a success roll and then another roll to see how much stealth is degraded for the character. When stealth reaches 0 they come for you. And of course there are lots of things that reduce their odds of success or the impact of success, as well as ways to boost your stealth back up.
You'll probably have to fight at some point during a mission, but it's unusual for skirmish in that the whole point is not to fight.
And, of course, it's designed as solo (could certainly be played co-op) or I wouldn't suggest it.

I agree, it's a good game but it's not in their top games unfortunately. Doesn't mean I didn't go all in though, can't wait to receive it!

This really seems like "busywork: the game" to me, but I'm looking forward to trying it and being proven wrong hopefully!

    Nice one Liz.
    As always a great review.
    This game isn't for me.
Don't think I'd be able to lift that crate of a box Burncycle comes in! lol

What is a good attempt at a stealth game for a board game? I'm very curious as I feel it's easily my favorite vg genre so this review got me really curious what the better examples are for this medium.

V-Sabotage (formerly titled V-Commandos) is great, and if you want something smaller, I quite like Burgle Bros and it’s sequel.
