Just here to say I will bookmark this one and come back. Part of me wants to see and know everything, part of me wants to wait until this is on my table and I see it in person first. Excited and jealous you got your copy, but CTG would have been crazy not to send it here for the solo and coop goodness!!
Watched to see if Burncycle is a game I would enjoy playing. Now I’m not sure if I enjoyed how the game plays or watching you play the game with your sound effects, giggles, sounds of surprise and elation, whispers, and decision making. Very entertaining, made me laugh a lot, thank you! I wonder how many viewers know what game show the phrase “no whammies” comes from. Probably quite a few - Hello fellow Gen Xers.
Hahaha, that's a persistent problem here on our channel. Moreso with Bairnt and Colin than with me. They make EVERY game look like the most fun thing ever, just cause they are so energetic :)
Like pretty much all chip theory games, it can be a lot if you decide to go all-in ;) I’m going to do another playthrough when I review it in two weeks, so hopefully that will help you with your decision!
Awesome video. I watched the CTG video the other day and couldn't figure out the rules and what they were doing. But this is great and gives me a great idea of game mechanics.
I was shocked to see how little things made sense to me when I watched the CTG games video. Here though it all made perfect sense. I’m glad I backed it
@@elqord.1118 We have a much more tutorial focused video of the demo scenario from the rulebook coming soon. The playthrough we posted is sort of half playthrough/half teaching, and it didn't serve super well as an outright game teach. 🙂
Its scheduled for a week from Saturday. Sorry to make you wait! But early signs are very positive if that helps. Biggest caution at the moment is that it gets pretty long once you go to 2 or 3 floors.
@@OneStopCoopShopQuite interesting. If you compare it to other CTG game for lengh comparison ? And too long for it to keep us interested or too long just to make us understand that it needs to be involved and know it needs time to enjoy all the depth of the game ? (Ps am frenglish 😅 sorry if wrong word)
@@fredericcourcy1915 sorry, didn't mean to imply that it was too long as in longer than it should be, or boring. That is definitely not the case. What I mean is I expect high player count games with 3 floors to take 3-4 hours. It'll certainly be less with solo or 2 bots.
Looks great! I'm excited to get this one soon. At 33:25, I think you meant to add a correction here about the faces on the ping die. It shows up about 10 seconds later but it was only visible for a split second.
It looks like the best turn based spy game available. It reminds me of Invisible Inc. This system can be streamlined and un-pimped to fit in a gamebook.
1:03:00 ish, when activating guards for investigation, you only move to their target, you do not then do their patrol. So They would stop on the awareness once they clear it (unless the awarenessmoves, in which case they will continue to pursue that awareness chip)
Ohhh, good call! I checked and you are right. It was definitely in my mind to "finish the move", but I guess they want to stand there and look around for clues a bit first ;) I'll add a subtitle. Thanks again!
@@OneStopCoopShop The Walker also if it was on patrol would not have moved left but instead would have turned right and hugged the outer wall counterclockwise-wise toward Access. My understanding is that they always keep turning right until they can move in a counterclockwise direction.
Yes, you are absolutely correct I missed that piece. Great video! Lots of rules to wrap your head around. Can’t wait to bust out my copy when it lands.
Ignore my previous reply, totally wrong. I stupidly missed that there is a clear wall between the safe room and the security room. It is entirely its own 1x1 room. Going to add subtitles for the error now. I feel especially silly because I definitely knew this was the case back when I played with the same room in the prototype! And I have a similar issue with the staircase later in the video.
Along with KDM, I think CTG has most of my money, for good reason. Have all their stuff so far, all in on the new Hoplo and TMB. I skipped this one because I'm not a huge fan of stealth, but it looks like I'll be adding it. Thanks for the video and looking forward to the review.
There is a indy computer game called "burncycle" also (i think thats the title) that is based in future space exploration timeperiod and in that game you are a salvager exploring spacehulks and abandoned starships and ya use robots with different abilities to explore into the ships but it has a more dark, tension filled vibe as the ships have no lighting and you just have to go by sensor scans as you move bots and you have to program the bots as you go and use them to do different jobs simultaneously in different areas/levels of ships to progress and defeat aliens and security defense bots. The appearance of the PC Burncycle has the look of an old low res CRT monitor ,like something from Alien movie and it does give a creepy tense feeling as you move the bots around as your visuals are restricted and you sometimes have limited time due to ship destabilization or other cause.
Some other viewers mentioned that on a previous video, so I’ve watched some clips of the game. Looks fun. I never played that one specifically, but used to play some of the other early FMV games like sewer shark and night trap
Great play through, thank you! I noticed you kept mentioning not wanting to spawn guards with the surveillance dice on floor 3. I don't think I mattered, but I'm pretty sure with the scenario rules you said the guard symbol on the surveillance would be ignored. A little undue stress there :)
Hi, from what you have experienced with this game, if you had to choose between this or Too Many Bones to own, which one would it be. unfortunately I only have enough budget to buy one :(
I think TMB ranks higher for me… BUT Burncycle is a better value, with 10 player characters in the base game. TMB really needs some more gearloc characters to shine
Man nice playthrough and no problem for some error... It happens and is not a big deal. The game looks really cool on the table and quality one. I am happy that I did a late pledge.
Glad I backed it. Looks like another hit for chip theory game 🙂 Next will be elder scroll. Since hoplomachus they manage to do great games one after the other Hope to read/hear your thought about this game
@@BGBarbarian ah, I'm probably not going to work for you too often then. My style is to finish every game in under an hour. Respecting the viewer's time and all that (instead of talking through my turn for 10 minutes), but that's not going to be everyone's cup of tea!
Less complex? Not sure about that. And I think the contents themselves are varied and good for the price. If you are talking about the floor 2 guards, watch the beginning of that floor again. Guard patrols are changed by the mission
Yes, you are absolutely correct I missed that piece. Great video! Lots of rules to wrap your head around. Can’t wait to bust out my copy when it lands.
14:30 unsure if it is corrected later, but drain is removing 1 chip from the bots reserve, not losing power
Wow, I totally misunderstood that one (though re-reading it it's clear). I'll add a note to the video and a subtitle. Thanks!
That first safe zone at @25:00 wouldn’t you have to break down the wall in order to get into the other room? Or is that SZ connected?
Yup, I accidentally missed the wall 😅
36:00 when you boot a ping, it is removed from the network, not put onto the core
Edited: looks like it was corrected off camera, nevermind
I knew it was going to spawn in a moment anyway, but yes, good eyes!
Wow, this looks awesome - like a souped-up Burgle Bros which I enjoyed. I think I would enjoy this, much more so than TMB which just wasn't for me.
It’s VERY different from TMB, despite being the same company
At 25:00, can you move from the safe zone to that room? There's no door there as far as I can tell.

How long did it take you to set up the 3rd floor? You mentioned it took a while.
The majority of the rooms were re-used, just moved around. I didn’t time it, but maybe 5 minutes?

Only in rooms that already have a guard in them, so I still had to be careful of empty rooms (except the supply closet that had no space).
