The fact that he’s British, yet he’s had an American accent in get out, and African accent in black panther. That’s talent!
Lil Durk agreed, I didn't even know he was British, that's raw talent
Doesn't being English count for anything anymore? your race is doomed.

It still surprises me every time I hear him talk that he has a British accent, only cuz his American accent in Get Out was flawless.
Vinck Nade like idriss Alba.
What's even crazier is that the Black-British experience has not been nearly the same as the African-American experience. Blacks in Britain didn't endure over 360 years of slavery, and then several more decades of their basic human rights limited or denied.
Yes, they casted a BRITISH black actor and you would've never known the difference.
nahor88 America was a Briton colony. And after slavery there was something called colonization by Europeans in Africa, Asia, the Middle East, central and South America. Slavery in North America was British up to 1776.
I fucking HATE IT when people like you take segments of a statement and decide to reply to them because it better supports your point. Did Blacks in Britain ever go through anything like the Civil Rights movement? Were they enslaved NEARLY AS LONG as African-Americans? No shit slavery existed in Britain at one point, but don't try to equate it to American slavery. And I don't know why you even brought up the colonization of those countries, it's outside the argument as we're strictly discussing African-American vs Black Brits.
Vinck Nade you should see his performance in Black Mirror, that’s the first time I saw him act, he was absolutely astounding.
UMMMMMMMM
DID THEY SERIOUSLY JUST SHOW THE FREAKING ROSE TWIST IN THE PREVIEW FOR THE MOVIE!?!?!?!??!?!?!?!?

Lolavie Blog well that’s dumb cos their are many British black ppl
@@LL-ip5mm Its not dumb if the only movies you have seen him in was the one he speaks like an American in. Same with Idris Elba. I thought he was American until I saw him in an interview many years ago and realized he is British who can do an American Accent well. I've been to the UK several times so I know there are many Black British people. I have family living there and born there, but that doesn't make someone dumb because they assume he is American based on the movie he was in.
i def didn't lol
What?? He was on black mirror ? Most people should expect that

He said "My credit score is great now" and nobody laughed. Lol a very lost audience

A very British thing to say too...

Dan K Yeah. It's a British thing.
paul fletcher more Manchester(my city) and London thing
Why have the talk shows ignored him until now? He’s great, the way he told his story made me smile.
Maybe they are afraid he might pull out a glass shard threatening to slit his throat? ;-)
Sure, it's 'cause he's British. Lord knows, we never see British folk on American TV shows. smh
Most people doesn't realise that a lot of appearances at the talk shows are actually advertisement and it cost a lot of money, so the most probable is the guy didn't appear before because it was an independent movie with very low budget. now that the film has become a success, the producers can afford to send him to talk shows and promote the movie.
well hes just an actor who says lines hes not a creative hes an empty vessel....
pxlbltz haha black mirror nice one
People would start conversations off with me by telling me they voted for Obama and I'm like.......ok, well that's....nice. So I understand what he means.
HerInfinitePossibilities, that is just because a lot of us whites are paranoid about being perceived as racist. We know that there are a bunch of racist white doucebags and we are desperate to not be assume to be one of them.
There are a lot of ways to not come across as a "racist white douchebag" as you call it. For starters not mentioning color or politics at all is one. Secondly when you see an injustice, take a stand.
HerInfinitePossibilities, why should you not mention politics at all? Where I am from politics is a normal topic. Not mentioning color though is normal though I think. Like I think many whites might overdo it. We are so desperate to not make color an issue that we totally avoid mentioning the blindingly obvious.
"Secondly when you see an injustice, take a stand."
Easier said than done. Most of the time racism is so subtle it is hard to decide whether it is racism or not. Me and my family was once traveling with Tamil family, who are very dark. Like middle of Africa. Where we went everybody else was white Scandinavians. I remember traveling with them made me very aware of how hard it is to judge whether you are being treated bad because of racism or because the person in just a asshole to anybody. I noticed the father was used to making sure they would not get subject to racism by always talking a bit excessively with any official we dealt with.
One thing to note about this is that in Europe racism is more tied to ethnicity/culture than skin color than in the US. If people think you are a poorly integrated immigrant with poor language skills you will face a lot more prejudice than if you come across as a well integrated immigrant. So he would talk a bunch to convey clearly that he knew the language well.
Fortunately I think racism is a lot less in northern Europe where I am from than in e.g. the US. My Tamil friend could not even get into the US. All his money on hotel and airplane for the whole family wasted. They just started insulting him calling him a terrorist etc at immigration. He has never even got a traffic ticket at home. But they were suggesting he was coming with the intention of doing terrorist acts in the US or financing it. The whole spiel seems utterly unreal to me when listening to it. He isn't even muslim. I know from muslim friends that it was a major ordeal every time the entered the US.
Povel enjoy the rest of your day. Stay up.
Straight people say weird shit too. My Dad years ago thought he was bonding with one of my boyfriends by taking him aside at a dinner and saying "of course you know most of her friends bat for the other team". Telling him I was bi just seemed futile at that point
He’s so charming and I can’t get over his London accent. He did an American accent so well.
he said wanker on american tv LMFAOOOOO

I’m Mexican and white folks in college say weird things to me like, “sup g”, when they damn well know they have never said that in their life. Also, for some weird reason tacos get brought up lol. I know we all love tacos but when it’s brought up almost randomly or as a topic it’s like bruh it ain’t that serious.
There’s more where that came from
Michelle Li I noticed that some white folks think it’s not racist if what is considered the white elephant in the room gets brought up, in this case being Mexican is the white elephant. They do this thing where they bring up stuff they think I can relate too, like a Spanish restaurant they went to once... and tbh it’s not persay racist. But it is suspicious. It’s weird, and it makes me feel like the “other”; it alienates, passively.
@@mikegarcia8815 As a white guy in the UK I don't get why other white people do this. Just talk about normal shit!
No one cares that you went to a Spanish restaurant or learnt a few words in Portuguese Karen.
Morgan Smith I wish that was the case man
Its white liberals. u live ina white rural area and no one will patronise you
mike garcia my white friends mom is so weird w that. She always brings up tacos or asks for my advice on making tortilla chips or talks about this Spanish restaurant or ask about our culture and I know she doesn’t have bad intentions and means well but it’s just fucking awkward when she does it. It’s like I’m the odd one out of the bunch. All of my white friends parents do that. Even my white therapist asks me every other week about my “culture” and how it’s “different”. Just because I’m Mexican doesn’t mean I want to talk about it 24/7. I don’t ask white people about their “culture” and advice on how to make lasagna. I don’t focus on their whiteness and try to bring up how white they are every chance I get

I haven’t seen the movie and I feel like I’m letting my race down
Hey Mr. M, watch that shit anyways. Top 3 movies I've seen made in the last 10 years, really it's phenomenal. I feel like an ass given the clip but I have a rule that truly great movies must be viewed 3 times and Get Out was one such movie. First to enjoy it and allow the first impression to wash over, then to watch it more critically and compose hypotheses and lastly to test those hypotheses. I'm off for my second viewing, implications of white guilt be damned. Also the narrative was not totally reliant on assuming the girlfriend was on his side, "spoiled the entire thing" is way too strong although this was probably the second most mysterious aspect of the movie. First would be what in the fuck is actually going on here?
+AND PEGGY! lol!
Short interview but Daniel is so adorable, something about the way he smiles at Stephen with this radiating joy just warms my heart. Then again I have a weakness for British accents so...
Get Out is one of the most disturbing movies I've ever seen. I almost couldn't watch it to the end. So true on so many levels. Utterly disturbing.
But have I lied? Truth is truth.
Oh, really? I guess the election of trump who ran on misogyny, racism and xenophobia is an example of how much has changed. But your heart seems to be in a good place. Peace.
Birdy1116 Youre absolutely right. And im white as snow.
I would like to be more optimistic but I've seen to much for a very long time,
Birdy1116 Not all white people are like this, this is a very toxic way of thinking. This is not truth. What you say is not truth, just matter of opinion. No matter what color or religion you are from there will always be good and bad people. It's that simple. You can't judge a whole race by the actions of a few or even a lot. That's not cool tbh, that's like someone going up to you and thinking you are a thug, when you are really not. And I'm only saying that because that is a very dumb stereotype people have. I'm sure not everyone in the black community speaks for you.

+Sitting on Ceilings. A black Brit is a representative of colonial oppression?! Please crack a history book. While you are in that book have look at America's history as a colonial and imperialist oppressor. Maybe start with your history in The Philippines and Cuba.
+Sitting on Ceilings. He was born in England. How would you then expect him to speak? It is just how he speaks. It was not imposed. It is more likely that he is from an immigrant background (Ugandan parents) rather than someone who came to the UK as a slave. It is also true that America is not innocent of imperialist oppression. So, let he without sin cast the first stone.
+ Sitting on Ceilings. The history of the whole world is written in one sentence . Rich people screw over poor people. I think you may have picked a battle that you are complicating with race. I am not for one minute saying that racism, institutionalised or casual, is not a problem. But blacks oppress blacks too I am afraid. Man's inhumanity to his fellow man knows no limits unfortunately, but this is something of a tangent. The way he speaks was not imposed by anything other than the geography of where he was born. A place it seems was chosen by his parents. Good luck to you though.
This is a really ignorant comment. He doesn't speak in the accent of 'colonial oppressors'. Perhaps to a non-Brit all English accents sound the same but he speaks in a very distinctive black London accent. Compare Daniel, Big Shaq & Stormzy's accents to people like Keira Knightley, Hugh Grant & Benedict Cumberbatch and perhaps you'll see what I mean. Your comment makes as much sense as saying AAVE is the accent of American colonial oppression. I get you are trying to make a (valid) critique of British colonialism but you do not need to throw Black Brits under the bus to do so.
I love his dark skin!
Chocolatensexy72 his skin is flawless
Get Out

It's kinda ironic how the main viewership for this show, and the host himself, is the exact group that Get Out focuses on.

Waswa Sam he’s from Uganda? Really?
Waswa Sam He kno da wei
Pretty much the African British diaspora is killing it in Hollywood right now. Elba, Boyega, Kaluuya, Oyelowo and Eijifori are the best actors around black or white.
He said he was English, but I'm not sure if he came from Africa before. Or his ancestral ethnicity.
+Annie Beguhl...his nationality is English. He was born in England. I suppose his parents may have been from Uganda.
One of my Caucasian clients asked if my daughter was mixed because she has hazel eyes and they change colors 😑 I didn’t know you had to be mixed to have light colored eyes .
Even if she was, it’s so rude to ask
I'm black and have hazel grey eyes
Sighs...that's not how genes work. People need more science...and getting a clue would be nice too.
Is she mixed ?
76shian nope. Dad and I are both black.
I love my fellow brits making it in America
can anybody be a Brit,I guess so
What?
He’s Britain? That’s so sexy. A Britain black man. I’ve seen black Britain people before but not in this shade to be exact and it’s really intriguing and excited the skills he has when it comes to acting
@@conniemarie8702 *British, Britain is the place 😊
Omg black British ppl have been in Britain for a while now wtf how can you think black ppl aren’t British He’s basically black African British
I love how the words “it was gas, wanker” etc just flew right over their heads 😂😂
He's a great actor.
Colbert was the very first to call this guy in for an interview when the rest of Hollywood didn't quite care yet.
Coming back here tonight, on Sunday 04/25/2021. Congrats on your Best Actor Academy Award win, Daniel. Kudos again, Colbert Show, for knowing before everyone else did. :)
Damn he's soooo handsome!
stop lying lol
Benny Murr bitch goodbye , he’s fine asl .. chocolate.. articulate , handsome, confident and clean cut . you could NEVA
Yesss girl
What the heck... for those who haven't seen the film, they spoiled the best part
It came out in February 2017.It's January 2018, if you haven't seen it by now that's your fault.
They wouldn't promote it if didn't want more people to see it... yet they spoil it, so no one has to :/
Aww. myles snowflake got his feelings hurt by a movie.
The film has been out for a year lol who cares if they spoil it? If you wanted to see it that bad you already would have by this point
Well that is life....the late show spoiled the second best movie of 2017 for me also " Lady Bird " so thank God that I already watched " Get Out " but that was by something the director said about the film not actually a scene from it.
*Thanks for SPOILING THE MOST INTENSE PART OF THE MOVIE*
He's so chilled out in this interview, just says whatever he's thinking and feeling, haha. Great actor.
