To those who can be a bit technical about music. I have a question. This rendition seems to be performed in the scale "Safed 2" (aka the key D3 on standard piano) but Punditji seems to have his "Sa" tuned to slightly lower frequency so that his "Pa" which is A3 on piano falls on 432Hz rather than the standard 440Hz. Is this understanding right? (Yes, I measured with a tuner) Those with extreme sensitive ears, please chime in.
Actually, Indian music uses tempered scale, i.e, only ratio of frequencies of notes is maintained and you can take "sa" reference as any frequency. I thought that's the reason. But it turns out that the international standard for note frequencies was A4=432 Hz earlier. So I guess the harmonium used here must have been manufactured as per that standard and hence he took that as reference. That's with the assumption that the recording pitch is same as original.
Normaly at a performance, all the instruments are tuned to that instrument which can not be tuned on the spot. So, that is the Harmonium here. But Im rather sure that the harmonium is tuned the ratios of a Natural Scale than the tempered one.
