Bro your channel is sick 🔥 We just went down on the first week of July with BACO and caught some huge mahi and multiple striped marlin!!! You got a new subscriber bro God Bless y’all
Have you ever thought about using a Conventional/ trolling reel ont the gun? They have reliable brakes. Full for cave dvellers and loose for pelagics. You can reel in the fish without the mess of floating Dynema. Since 1950', Dad, Buddy and later Myself used Penn 65/66/67 with about 50 mts of stainless cable. No tangle, it sinks inmediatelly. There are fine Graphite conventional reels that are light
@CJDuffie22 totally agree with the shot and ease of use. But the female newbie, without her snorkel in, getting spooled and towed, was making me nervous. Good job of shadowing her. Great footage a hell of a day.
I'd be living on the east cape right now if I was allowed to bring my guns but where we're at in this world there's no f****** way I am not living in this world without my firearms
@@coltybearsclub701 That''s why I have passed on the opportunity to spear marlin when I have had the opportunity. That's why line fisherman to catch and release billfish.
@@CJDuffie22 There has always been concern about the health of billfish populations, marlin in particular which is why many fisherman practice catch and release as well as tagging. I have had smoked marlin in the past (long before I started spearing) and agree it does taste very good. But...there are plenty of other fish to spear as your video showed...wahoo, yellowfin, bluefin, dogtooth, grouper, dorado, white sea bass and on and on. I just prefer to see these beauties left on their own.
I completely disagree. We ate it so many ways. It’s great for sushi/sashimi. We also used to make ceviche. We also used the belly for soup. I can’t tell you how amazing it was. Truly one of my favorite fish to eat.
@cjduffie22 yeah personal preference - I think I’d just watch striped marlin in awe, they are absolutely incredible, interesting how hunting preferences are influenced by beauty, incredible footage CJ

They would get destroyed being submerged all the time. No doubt.
Amazing

Welcome!
I would use a float with a bunge line easier and safer you can let go if needed.
Reels are very simple. Especially if you wait for the right shot

Great video until you speared the marlin!
There’s no such thing as catch and release in spearfishing

Marlin tastes great, especially smoked.. They get a free pass or something?
Why do you not like seeing the marlin get speared ?

Stupid shooting that marlin
Why do you feel that way?
A marlin is no smarter than a mahi you’re just mad because it’s prettier
wth
y'all lame. get yourself a line and reel like a real man.
Sad part is … I could use a rod and reel 10 times better than you could ever be in the water 😂 be a man, see you there
