  • Anaheim's contract with Republic Services requires Heil garbage trucks to be on their routes, so due to this and ZRs being unable to fit in the city's alleys, the Republic Services of Anaheim yard switched back to Heil for their residential purchases in 2019 and 2020 to phase out most of the 2012 CNG ACX RRs that had been servicing the city since they were brand new. In 2019, they received 9 Durapacks from a NorCal truck trade, and in 2020, they bought 7 regular body RRs, all on Pete 520's. Usually, I've been able to film trucks they receive brand new, but since most were put on Anaheim routes, I wasn't able to do that this time around. Luckily, I had a free Thursday morning recently and drove down to the day's Anaheim route so I could finally see some of these new trucks on route for myself. It was cool to see 2416 on route, as I saw it brand new at the yard's truck rodeo back in November 2019, and 2421 is basically the modern version of the Diesel 320 RRs I grew up watching. Enjoy!

So much more entertaining and eye appealing then the typical ZR.

Yeah they look much nicer than the ZRs! Personally, I'd still take a ZR over these since they're faster but it's nice to see Anaheim go back to Heil for a bit and get both Durapacks and regular RR's. The Durapacks are way out of our normal ballpark so I really didn't expect them to get some last year.

Woah! I’ve never ever seen these. I had NO idea they existed!

Yeah they bought these for the city of Anaheim, but there's a couple that are float trucks, so one can be spotted in Brea occasionally.

Nice video. I really like the sound of these trucks. So now we just need to get 2410, 2411, 2415, 2418, 2420, 2422, 2423, 2424

That's up to you if you want to film every single new truck. I'm not trying to do that.

Never realized their contract called for Heils only. Do you know the reasoning behind that

I guess Anaheim's city council wants Heil garbage trucks in their city since Taormina Industries, the city's original garbage company, bought them for many years prior to Republic Services acquiring Taormina. Luckily, Republic still buys Heil for commercial, but they now buy McNeilus for residential, so maybe the city wanted Republic to make an exception for them.

I live in Hawaii so I’m basically cut off from the entire mainland, but do these run at Disneyland by any chance, or is it all AFLs?

These trucks service the neighborhoods surrounding Disneyland. Disneyland itself is serviced by regular front loaders without the automated arms.

Oh, because sometimes at recycling centers here they line up a whole bunch of side loader cans.

Awesome! They do that at the trash truck yards around here, too.
