The guitarist is Romain Axisa, the guitarist in the "Money Game 1" video and Ren's bandmate in The Big Push. Can you imagine doing an awards show without backup dancers, backup singers, a band, a fancy light show... just Ren and Romain on an acoustic?
Oh and Justin Hawkins and the Darkness were the last act and he visited Ren in his dressing room and tied his tie for him. Ren's comment" Is this what it feels like to have a dad?" Cuz his dad wasn't around much..

He wasn’t 100% for this; he told us yesterday that his treatments in Canada haven’t worked as well as he’d hoped, and he’ll have to return for more. If I had to guess - the whole mess with Kujo probably took its toll on him too! So glad he got to perform at this event.. and meet one of his ‘mates’.. Justin Hawkins (The Darkness) - who also performed. Can’t wait for next ‘RENs-day’!!
If you took all of the people out of that room who know Ren, Sure, there'd be a few empty seats here & there other than Ren's crew's table (they had a table), but you'd still say "it's a full house." So yeah. He had an audience who'd never heard of him before, pretty captivated. Like the camera probably could have found some of the audience not in rapt attention to his performance; it only cut away to the audience for two brief moments. But still. They sure weren't having rowdy convos & laughing & clinking glasses, whoever wasn't completely under his spell.
You guys missed the fact REN picked this song as a dig at Mr Murdoch. He owns sky and is worth around 20 billion. He is so in touch with everything around him.

Not sure about the snippet showing a tiny, tiny, fraction of that blonde lady's reaction can be seen as her disapproving, personally. She may well be critical or/and not enjoyed it and because it's a wealthy audience it fits the narrative, which is why I think there is a real big heap of projection in concluding she disapproves. I don't think there is enough footage of her to know...although, even then we'd be guessing. She could be the person applauding the loudest..who knows?..they don't show that. I'd, personally, agree that she looks pissed off in the tiny, tiny clip of her, but, again we are guessing and what may be assumed from her look there could be way, way out of touch with the reality of what she actually thinks of this performance. It'd hardly be a first to jump to the wrong conclusion, especially from such a little clip to base that all on. Saying she loved it or hated it..or even didn't care...requires a ginormous dose of projection. All we can really say, for definite, is we've absolutely no idea.

For what it's worth here's my thoughts on that. I don't believe Romain would not know beforehand where those rests fall. Can't see that, with a performance like this...Ren's first TV coverage, that he'd have left that to chance. Maybe I'm totally wrong, but, I reckon Romain knows exactly what he's going to play and where those stops are to fall. Ren does tap him at those points, but, also elsewhere. One last thing, obviously Romain doesn't need to see to know what he's playing, but, ive always thought those money bags they're using don't render them completely sightless, I reckon they can see through them, albeit, not too clearly, so they're not totally blinded. Posted today that the symptoms are flooding back. So major flare up, I'm guessing. Barronella is a tough infection to get rid of
