I'm a modeler. Multi color printing is not necessary. I want beautiful prints and I will paint them. I need a printer that can produce accurate dimensions, with minimal layer lines. This printer is what I'm looking for. The only problem I'm having is giving my Ender 3 S1 to someone. I have an FLSUN Speed Racer delta that's tuned to perfection. I like the speed increase, Clipper, and WiFi. Great review.
Man, you should've released this a few days sooner! I just bought my A1. I think I'll like it, though. I probably would have bought it over the SOVOL anyways.
Don't regret it. You can also print in multicolour and the results are also really good especially in the multicolour department they're still the best. Sovol is known for bad firmware support iirc. I would also have bought an A1, but I know it's really tempting for that price. I was thinking about buying one myself. But I will get another regular A1 with AMS. Tbh the recommended speed for this machine will be also at 300mm/s and 10k for acceleration. Just download the orca slicer profile and slice some things. It's not much faster than you would think. The A1 is still fast and you have an awesome ecosystem and community. Bambus discord is really nice. Never had a negative experience with someone. And If you don't want to, you don't even have to use a slicer at all and can use the app all the time. The first 30h I only used the app
Many thanks for the video. I really like these quick & short ones, with dense information. Don't need to watch a 500th unboxing video, with 30 or more min. playtime! 😏 For sure Sovol built a solid printer here and I really like what they're doing ... but from my point of view it's too late to compete with the A1. With the current and very aggressive price of the A1, the AMS option for only 150$/€ and Bambus Ecosystem, it will be very difficult to convince customers to chose it over the A1. I think it could be a good machine for tinkering and people who like to play around. But for me, after 6 years of printing, starting with the Ender 3, I'm done with this an appreciate the simplicity and good results of my A1 Mini and A1. (just got the A1 Combo this week)
Thank you so very much! That A1 is such a beautiful machine and the ecosystem is the best we’ve seen for sure! Congrats on the new machine this week! Both of your machines are the best the industry offers!
@@LoyalMoses many thanks for your reply. I had quite a journey, started 6 years ago with the Ender 3, six other printers along the way. But Bambu is, like you often said in your videos, just mind blowing. I'm an electrical engineer and can't believe what they do at this price point. Hope others will keep up one day but right now Bambu really is way ahead.
Always great no BS review. Why don’t Sovol make a dual idex, twin gantry idex. No change purges, complicated tool head swapping. An DIDEX 😂 would be king of multi color, just a thought
Just finished printing some prototype test fit parts on my sv06 that I have had since they released it, stock with marlin but running 4k accelerations and some tweaks to tuning in firmware. Printing at 150mm/s infill and 80mm/s perimeters and the thing still prints like a dream, I am sure I could go harder with a CHT nozzle and still have perfectly usable parts with a little ringing. I have to get around to putting klipper on it at some point, but getting parts 4x faster than the stock profile with no hardware mods past a 5015 part fan and duct I am extremely happy with it. If this thing has the build quality of the SV06 and then some, with the added benefits of klipper, I am getting one.
The focus on user experience is going to be a big benefit for them. Part of the reason BL has been eating everyones lunch is they have UX in using the machine absolutely nailed. As long as companies are purely focused on speeds and tech without making a printer much easier to use, they're still going to spend time wondering why their sales aren't what they could be.
Glad to see some new highspeed bed slingers to compete with the A1. Definitely need multi-color these days though. I would love to see your take on the Anycubic Kobra 3 Combo with the ACE. It is everything the SV06 is with multi=color and a built in dryer.
Always professional, always down-to-earth. Thank you for the honest review! I'm also curious to see how a CoPrint addition would compare with the A1+ AMS or the Kobra 3 combo
Great video as always. Really looking forward to the comparison with the A1. I feel like the A1 is the current bedslinger to beat, especially with the Black Friday sale currently going on.
great vid and great machine. and yeah that price is insane when cost of material is still up there and some things are still slowly available. Heard about coprint. i think they where talking with creality at one point before creality did there own multi color.
Multi color would be nice but i dont have much hope for co print since the sv08 co print page no longer exists. Half the reason o got the sv08 was due to the co print add on. I think i will just get a A1 and ams instead, with black friday sales on, its hard to say no to it. This is a nice printer though, 13 miniute benchy on a bed slinger is insane, especially that quality
I got the regular sv06 a couple weeks ago. Im a noob and i like this printer alot. Its down right now for a couple days because i already have a bad bearing that i need to replace
Personally I don't care about multicolour unless there is close to zero waste, although multi material is another story. Zero support gap and perfect overhangs are nice.
That bed plate design looks awfully familiar to creality but that thing looks great and klipper and related greatness baked in for what I paid for my v3 se
First thank you for another great video. And since we are already making comparisons to the A1 do you know if the camera on the Sovol is also a low framerate one and also is it capable of detecting fillament tangles?
Thank you! Because it’s Klipper it can easily be done. I was just informed by SOVOL that the camera is disabled by default under the settings for privacy reasons! 🔥
On a side note about the price. In the EU the Sovol is an even better deal because the price doesn't get converted to euros unlike on the bambu lab's site. It stays $259.00 instead of 259 euros (which would actually be around $279). And the shipping cost from Sovol was cheaper for me too.
Printing a boat means absolutely nothing to me, as I've never printed one and never well. I want to see how good it prints a figure, how easy the supports come off, and what it looks like when you do remove the supports. High speed means nothing if the quality sucks.
Multi color is a gimmick... there, I said it. Learn how to paint and take pride in your work, rather than cranking out cheap toys. I really like this machine, allot! Thanks for the great review. Excellent editing and filming.
@@LoyalMoses I like the multi color option as aa great way to have four colors ready to go. Changing filament rolls is a pain, so if I can load up an assortment of filaments and always have them on hand is a great plus for multi color. And, who knows, maybe I'll warm up to it! I have had no problems with filament moisture, so I can see no downsides to having four rolls exposed to my room humidity. Hmmm... I'm starting to reconsider this.
The price is great, but the A1 looks more refined, cables are more organized and overall structure just looks cleaner. I already have 2 A1's and I would buy another A1 before I buy this one. $40 more for the A1 isn't that much.
Trouble is Bambu disappears, and your printer gets a lot less useful and maintainable. And that should be an unforgivable red flag for everyone, though I understand it isn't.
@@Frentraken That's understandable, but to be fair, even if bambu disappears tomorrow, the printers will still function in LAN mode just fine; many print farm owners with bambu printers use LAN mode exclusively. That said, I really wouldn't worry about bambu disappearing anytime soon. They're probably some of the most popular printers on the market, and for good reason. They're also not the only "closed source" printer manufacturer on the market, especially considering how loosely the definition of "open source" is actually interpreted by a lot of other manufacturers. Open source is great, but closed source isn't the doomsday scenario a lot seem to take it as.
This isn't even a competition with the A1 being only $40 more for a much, much better printer. I have three A1s (and a mini) and would absolutely buy another A1 over any other bedslinger available.
UPDATE: The camera is simply disabled by default under settings for privacy reasons! 🔥
Absolutely love a company doing privacy by default, it's a great change from a lot of what we've seen in recent years.
That is actually really admirable.
Glad to see they finally listened to their users and upgraded parts cooling.
Cooling is much nicer!
I wish that they made upgrade kits for the original SV06… even if it was nearly the same price.
That is one thing that I really like about Prusa, the upgrade paths.

I bought the regular sv06 a day before this was revealed but i don't regret it. i am very satisfied.
I wouldn’t worry either! Congrats on a new machine too!
