I was wondering if you had an opinion about upper honey super entrance to allow the foragers direct access to the comb. I'm wondering if it benefits the harvest and also wonder if it promotes an increased risk for robbing.

Mr T, you never know about Mother Nature. The goldenrods blooming are several weeks away here. The hives at my house are packing in nectar from somewhere and my hives 7 miles away I’ve been feeding for 3 weeks because they were out of stores. Good luck!

You are absolutely right that you never know. It's farming and their is no guarantee that you will get anything. Fingers crossed it gets better. Good luck with your fall flow.

So do you winter with a medium super full of honey on your brood chamber?

Was in my hives yesterday. 4 of the 6 are packed with brood and resources (dbl deeps) and well on the way to 2 full supers. The other 2 are wonky with little brood and resources and very little in 1 super.🤷‍♂️ I think our rainy July might have affected them? Walking through our Goldenrod fields I see very few honeybees, but lots of natives. Weird year

Thank you for watching. Sounds like most of your hives are doing well the other 2 very slow. Check for mites. It could be keeping them behind or an older queen. Not much dark honey in any of my hives so I am hoping it just hasn't started yet. Fingers crossed it gets better.
