    Thanks for sharing, j
Just so you know. the IQR in the second example is 4.5 not 3.5. (7.5 - 3 )= 4.5
    thank you.

A wonderful explanation, I have got a crystal clear idea about the quartile and quartile range. Though there is a simple mistake which is 7.5-3 = 4.5, it should not bother anyone.

How can average of 3rd and 4th observation become 3.25th position? If it is 3.5th position, it is ok. The correct formula is
3rd value +0.25*(4th value- third value)? Please reply sir

it is wrong: in example number two, Q1 and Q3 are not correct, since it is not the middel point. The position is 3.25 and not 3.5, same for the position of Q3: 9.75 and not 9.5. Therefore the value is not in the middle between the two points.

Very nicely done! I saw another video where if the set of numbers is even you would find the median, then just "add in" that number to the set of numbers, then you can find the 1Q and 3Q as if its odd? But youre saying no, if you apply the formula as q1 = .25 x N +1 and N + 1 is odd? then you take where that lands and average out those 2 numbers. This is a totally different number. Another teacher was teaching that way of finding q1 and q3. That would mean in Example 2, the median is at between the 5 and 6 or 5.5 but now you add 5.5 to the set so N = 12 becomes N = 13 and q1 is 3 but q3 is 7 (not 7.5). Can you speculate on why a teacher would present the way to find q1 and q3 that way? thank you

Hi Anil Kumar Sir,Your explanations is very nice, but I have a doubt about quantiles, when I run the quantile command in R with your data,I got different answer. Here I am posting the answer is
    > q4=c(2,3,1,4,6,8,9,10,12,3,4)
    > quantile(q4)
    0% 25% 50% 75% 100%
    1.0 3.0 4.0 8.5 12.0
but in ur example 75% is 9,please clarify my doubt sir,i am very confusing in this.
