  • This is for Oliver66farmboy and Oliver guys , Hear is the Oliver Spread-All that I happened on a few years ago and it's the only one I have seen in my life. All the years of farm auctions and consignment sale I just happened to find it one day and had to have it. I thought you would like a good look at it and it all moves and is clean and oiled. I hope you enjoy. Bandit

    From a 1966 Oliver catalog. The 28 Spred-All for Fertilizer.
    Distributes fertilizer, weed killers, inseeti-cides. Also side dresses row crops, sows grass seed and grain. Non-spill, weather-proof hopper is easy to load. Sam-type feeder crumbles hard material without elogging, removes as a unit to make cleaning easy.

      I think this one is older than a 28 its more in line by the decals of the 50's with the fleet line tractors. To be honest this one is the very first Oliver spreader I have ever seen and I saved it from a junkyard . Most of these rotted away years ago but this one is still in good shape so I guess it never saw any fertilizer threw it so it makes it kind of a rare piece these days. Bandit

    That's a nice rig... not many of those around here anymore, haven't seen one in decades. Weren't many to start with, because most soils down here we never have to lime. At least our row crop ground we never had to, the pH was always 7.2 pretty much year in year out! Some guys bought those to top dress broadcast pastures or hayfields or something, but not many and even fewer left. I wonder if that would plant fuzzy seeds like warm season perennial grasses like bluestem?? They usually use a "warm season box" which has picker wheels, like thick small diameter saw blades. Later! OL J R :)

    This is one of those pieces of equipment you just never see because they all rusted away. I don't know of any others around hear and this was a heavy Oliver area and I really don't think this one was ever used much . I hope you all enjoy. Bandit

    I have a buddy with a new idea drop spreader. Probably not as rare as the Oliver, but probably built around the same time.

      +Massey1105driver There are some old ones out there that were taken care of sitting in a barn or shed that's for sure, But these days they are few and far in between these days. Some place I have a JD 200 gallon sprayer sitting some ware that I don't use anymore for several reasons, But like the spreader there is some odd old equipment sitting out there that needs to be rediscovered and shown. +Bill Whitman There are a few thinks around hear that bring back memories , The 520 Oliver baler I gat last year I got to see it the day it was delivered new to the guy I got it from. One of the few days my grandfather was in a good mood and took me over to see it being unloaded off the truck new. My old IH 4x14" plow behind dads MH 44 diesel (about 1978) rolling black smoke, And my grandfather seeing my new (to me) 1550 Oliver then I bought it. He thought it was really something compared to his old Oliver 60 he had. Funny how things bring back memories like this. Bandit

      Had a neighbor that had an old MH 44 diesel that he pulled 3-14's with. I can still remember plowing a clay knob over around Groveport at night and being mesmerized by the orange glow at night. Planted hundreds of acres with a 4 row Oliver 40" planter until we got a 6 row AC no-till that was going to make us rich with double crop beans. Or how about the hundreds of acres we dragged after moldboarding?

    • @banditfarmer1900
      @banditfarmer1900  8 років тому

      +Bill Whitman Dad's old 44 diesel I could pull those 4x14" in 2nd all day long but come evening and night 3rd gear and watch the flame come out of the stack and she was running good ! We did more work with it in the evenings and night when during the day, It just ran better at night with the cool moist air. WOW sitting hear thinking about it I can smell that old diesel smoke as it rolled out of the stack. Aint that weird ! Most of the time we used an 8' pull type disk and harrow as we were plowing, The guy disking sure did a lot of bouncing and had to run slow because of it. Bandit

    • @billwhitman1529
      @billwhitman1529 8 років тому

      I can still smell that old 44. We pulled a 12' Oliver disk with a 14' harrowgator behind that. Funny, I was going to say something to you about how well our diesels ran after dark. Seemed like we had more power.

    • @banditfarmer1900
      @banditfarmer1900  8 років тому +2

      Man aint that the truth ! Most all the old diesels seamed to run that way, They just ran good after the dew set. I drove a semi that had a 6V71 Detroit that ran like crap during the day but at nigh Look OUT, She was moving on ! I took dads 44 diesel to a tractor pull I night in the fall (dad still don't know I did it) Pulled the muffler off and put a strait pipe on closed the shutters to heat her up before the pull. I opened them after I hooked to the sled and opened her up in 2 gear 299.6 feet and it sounded like a 2 cyl jd at the end on a dead grunt pull. Got 2nd place in 6500# class a got beat by 299.8 feet. 2 inches between me and a Supper 88, Oh well I had fun. Bandit

    I have a similar piece of equipment but mine is an ezee flow it is froze up and the rims are half rotted so I got decorative and placed it in a flower bed so my better half could plant some flowers in it.

      I got this one off a truck that was headed to the scrap yard to be junked ! It's in way go good of shape to go there so I had to buy it off the guy and save it. This one is from the 50's and still in good shape and will serve me for many years to come. Its really hard to find any of the Oliver spreaders like this, Most rusted away years ago. Bandit

    I doubt that was used much by the looks of it. Who was the Oliver dealer in the Lynchburg area? We did not by into the area until 92. I think one of your videos you mentioned a dealer in Buford, Ohio

    • @banditfarmer1900
      @banditfarmer1900  8 років тому

      +Fieldman12 There was one in Buford and one in Winchester and one in New Vienna but I don't remember one in Lynchburg but there is one still in Pleasant Plane. Shoot now I got to think about this one. Bandit

      +Bandit farmer Yeah, I forgot about Faris Implement in New Vienna, Ohio. I was not saying there was a dealer in Lynchburg. I was just meaning what dealer is close to there.

      I can remember Hickson MF and Luckecks JD but it seams like there was another one in Lynchburg but I just cant remember who it was. Shoot there use to be 3 or 4 tractor dealer ships in Blanchester that have been gone sense the late 70's. Oh if could remember what I forgot. Bandit
