When I die & if there is a God and he asks me what decade I want to spend eternity in....as much as I love my high school years and the music of the early 1990s....I'm telling God: THE MOTHERFUCKING 1980s
This was probably the last movie my parents ever took me to see at the theaters, right before I became a teenager. I remember this scene got one of the biggest laughs
I thought it was 'Sundays', but pretty much yeah. EDIT - Found another clip that has the subtitles, and it indeed is Saturdays. That said, I find it annoying when (re)releases of some of these films don't include the original embedded subtitles for when they speak in foreign languages.
Probably a lot of people miss that this gag was foreshadowed earlier in the movie when Joan's publisher was trying to talk her out of going: "Colombia? Do you have any idea what it's like in Colombia? I do. Your books do very well in these macho countries..."
You are absolutely right. Kathleen Turner with Chad Everett, Dave Sheridan, Jane Randolph, John Larroquette and Trevor Robert are the six most extremely sexiest and admirable sex symbols of Hollywood and the worldest cinema ever.
Love the entire scene! Man-- the 3-month shoot must have been filled with so many unexpected moments-- sweet little jewels, I imagine. Love this movie!
It’s teased early on the movie, though! Joan’s agent makes an offhand comment that her books do very well in macho countries like Colombia, so this doesn’t exactly come out of nowhere.
What do you think this is I'm living in? A pig sty? "HIT DE ROAD", I love it Alfonso is one of my favorite actors, especially in westerns. He was born to play in westerns just like another favorite actor Slim Pickens.
One of the best moments of this scene is right before this when Michael Douglas says, "We need to get to a town." and Alfonso looks around all bug-eyed like, "What the hell does he think he's standing in?!" 😂 To this day his expression cracks me up. From suspicious to deeply offended and pissed off in a quarter of a second. lmao
This was the best part of the movie to me Joan wilder it her Jains wilder I read all of your books 📚 it kool NP LOL SEEN THIS FLICK FIRST DAY IT CAME OUT
I’ve been revisiting so many 80’s & 90’s movies. Put aside the colour balance and sound quality issues dating the video and the storytelling make majority of current movies a waste of time.
If I could go back to 80s..the best decade growing up!
Agreed :)

1984 by The Northern Lights popped up on my playlist. When I hear that song I think of this movie instantly.
YES!!!
80s was the best time in almost everything!
Movies,comics, tv,cartoons,music, etc
This was probably the last movie my parents ever took me to see at the theaters, right before I became a teenager. I remember this scene got one of the biggest laughs
1:30. He told his friends, “This is the woman who writes those books I read to you in Saturdays!”

I love how he rejects them, but as soon as he finds out The Joan Wilder is in his presence, he immediately becomes extremely welcoming
Top script :)

One of?
I remember the first time I saw this scene. It was so unexpected. I almost fell out of my chair laughing.
yyup...Joan Wilder??? The Joan wilder?
Never underestimate the power of a good book!
I love when he casually gestures with the gun when asking her if she's Joan Wilder the novelist. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Yep. It's epic.
I noticed that too. Funny stuff.
I used to be so in love with Kathleen Turner. She was one of the prettiest & most talented actresses of the 80's❤️♥️
Not just pretty, but also able and caring.
Hard to convey these days.
You're so right. She will ways be my Angel!
well....

A romantic drug dealer? When I saw this movie with my father, I was laughing so much that my face went red
Favorite part of the movie for me so funny
Love the entire scene!
Man-- the 3-month shoot must have been filled with so many unexpected moments-- sweet little jewels, I imagine.

It's a classic... 80s Rocked :)
Esta es Juanita! Las novelas lleyndo en Sábados!
"Juanita!"
all those thugs acting nice all of a sudden lol
Now that I'm older, I get this scene. It's likely like one of her novels. A lovely Deus ex machina that helps them and progresses the story.
It’s teased early on the movie, though! Joan’s agent makes an offhand comment that her books do very well in macho countries like Colombia, so this doesn’t exactly come out of nowhere.
This is a so ridiculous situation, and so funny at the same time.
A old time classic.

This is my favorite scene. Forty years later I still randomly say Joan Wilder?

“They are such comedians!”

But does it have anything to do with language therapy, and/or did it provide a "teachable moment" in life coaching for you at some point?
I’ve been revisiting so many 80’s & 90’s movies. Put aside the colour balance and sound quality issues dating the video and the storytelling make majority of current movies a waste of time.
Yep :)
What a great movie, don't make them like this anymore......all depressing movies now with violence, flings, & drugs...
