I really enjoyed the Shattered Diamonds story because we got to see what the original Diamond Cutters were like before their untimely deaths and more insight in Mimic's psyche just how messed up he truly is before he crossed paths with Whisper and this gives more depth into their relationship and Whisper prior to Mimic's betrayal, she was just like Tangle an eager, friendly and bubbly person who fights alongside her found family against the Eggman empire not to mention even more depth to Whisper's trauma since she was the one who recruited Mimic in the first place indirectly leading to her group's demise and why she blames herself for their fate but she had no way of knowing just how messed up Mimic truly was
It does make you understand Whisper's sadness even more. I guess it could make Lanolin more sympathetic too, given that she made a similar decision; the difference being that it didn't come between her and her old friends
It will be a great idea if Surge and Kit and make their Own "eggman". Like a Villain who wants to be seen as a threat, but few can take them seriously. Or like a Villain who acted evil, only to prepare them for even more evil treats like eggman! As Destiny was a pretty fun what if with Knuckles to issue 80. And even the one with Mimic is pretty creative of how he became and villain, and tragic at the same time. Also, great work on your fun review work! Looking forward to 2025 for more fun tales !
I can't wait to see what adventures Surge and Kit get up to. Honestly them helping people and inadvertently creating their own nemesis in the process seems par for the course. I enjoyed Mimic's backstory for showing us just how warped and obsessed this guy is but also how adorably chipper Whisper used to be. Tragic that we can't see more of the original team's dynamic. Wouldn't mind the idea of Mimic running afoul of the survivors of his former teams in his pursuit of Whisper and having to contend with multiple opponents that both know his tricks and want him dead.
You know, I'm really digging what they're doing with Surge and Kit. Surge being a glory hunting Anti-Hero while still out to end Sonic and Kit trying to help her, presumably by doing some bad stuff, causing mayham that she can fix. I'd say they are definietly among the most interesting characters of the entire franchise right now and I'm looking forward to see what their future has in store.

Mimic is such a monster that I really hope tangle and whisper really take this monster down because wow Mimic is clearly a psychopath from the beginning in my opinion.
westopolis/the cities in that era of sonic might as well be in the same city. like that surge/kit are being wild cards getting acknowledgement their own way.(prick move of that complainer though with how useless the townsfolk were in forces.) really love it showed the master emerald(would be nice seeing more of it like how the echidnas got it with how it's from earth/why the deity gave the emeralds to the frontiers precursors of chaos.) showing visions again since sa1/feeling like if we saw a little more of knuckles after his story in adventure.(compared to dr. eggman stealing the emerald to take over the world or nearly destroy it at least rouge is more playful about it and more friendly.) love the gigyas looking spirits around that depressed egg pawn/seeing more of the diamond cutters though yeah definitely wouldn't mind mimic being one of the few characters to die with his treachery.
I get the feeling that Mimic is gonna be like the Joker or like Green Goblin to the Sonic franchise. Because both characters like Mimic are psychopaths, and have someone they want to get rid of. The difference being is that Mimic is missing that one push of him wanting to also try to break a heroes moral code. You know, the no killing code. That be said, who would Mimic be willing to go after to break their moral code? You know, besides Whisper.
Now that Mimic has been well and truly exposed, Lanolin has seen how ignorant and wrong she was, Whisper's confidence in herself will be restored and Silver will be cleared, here's a version of what I think should happen next: Silver: so he WAS Mimic, and I DIDN'T hurt him? I didn;t mess up AFTER ALL? Tangle: actually, you still...kinda did...with the whole... Whisper: I was right. that means..(smiles) I didn't make a mistake. I didn't imagine Duo tripping Silver and causing that avalanche, and I DID get the right guy. which means I NOT out of control, and I DIDN'T hurt an innocent life. I didn't hurt him at all. I....(face turns to shock)I had him. I KNEW it was Mimic, I KNEW I wasn't seeing things, I HAD him, and I let him him go. I could've stopped him, but I let him go, all because I DOUBTED myself. I thought I made a mistake, I though I mislead Silver and hurt and innocent life, because I thought I KNEW Mimic. I could've stopped him, I could've prevented this from happening, but I didn't stop him, I hesitated, I doubt myself and I let him go. All this blamed myself for hurting an innocent life and couldn't trust myself, and it turned out I blamed myself for nothing and I let him go (grunts) and worst of all, I as good as turned my back on Silver Tangle: and so did I. but stop beating yourself up Whisper, I get the bad point, but there's a GOOD point too. you got the right guy because you...are...a GOOD detective, and you have GOOD instincts. I was that that little bit of doubt, that thinking, the over-thinking is where you really went wrong. so things didn't go well and you ended up doubting yourself. the point is you...got...it...right Whisper: (sighs) but still, I should've believed in my gut, I should've persisted in the face of doubt, and I should've used my imagination. and it's still PARTLY my fault Silver got into trouble and Mimic got one step closer, because I didn't think it through Silver: no, Whisper, that was MY fault. Your plan was great, you had it figured out, I messed it up. You told me to be patient, but I wanted it done straight away. If I hadn't had done that, if I had been more patient, I wouldn't have made myself and you look bad and Mimic wouldn't have had the opportunity to pull that gambit and make me and you look bad. I messed up and brought Mimic one step closer Whisper: (sighs) Silver, I am so sorry. I was your guardian angel, and I as good as let you down. I can't believe I doubted myself (looks at at Lanolin angrily) and I can't believe I listened to YOU (Lanolin is taken aback) Whisper: I told you Duo was Mimic, I told you you should've let us prove it, but you didn't. you didn't even give us a chance to because you were blinded by your own stubbornness and hubris. I guess you could say Whisper wasn't fully angry with her until they begin their mission in Eggperial City in 57 & 58.
Honestly I love that Kit is likely going to be the next major threat and Surge is going to be the unintentional initiator. This will be an amazing way to explore their dynamic and set up the main villan for what is likely to he a twisted next ark.
This will help me Because i plan to play Mimic on my channel and Anow I know his backstory. Issue 57 was where my dislike of Lanolin began i just dont like her working with Tangle and Whisper. It should Jewel and Belle. There's no place for Lanolin in my new Diamond cutters team.
Knuckles Story in the Annual was pretty wholesome especially towards the end with him hanging with Sonic, Tails, and Amy

Huh, when you think about it, mimic comes off as a dark reflection of the avatar in sonic forces
perhaps but you never know the story creature of sonic might make a redemption story for him one day
