    I recently had a customer bring a 2021 Toyota Highlander in for a full detail. Customer purchased brand new with the vehicle a dealership Simonize coating with their warranty. Upon initial inspection there was absolutely nothing on the paint. This was footage I got for him to go back to the dealership to prove there was nothing there.
    Just another reminder- avoid dealership coatings and do your research. A pro detailer will properly prep and apply a quality ceramic coating vs talking you into purchasing a ceramic SEALANT that comes with a warranty, which is unfortunately what this customer ended up getting. He doesnt even remember if it ever beaded. Its a shame and now he has to battle with the dealership for his money back or be out several hundred dollars to have a quality ceramic coating applied. A very hard lesson learned and one I wish I could have avoided for this customer.

    I have never put any faith in dealership applied coatings, however when you use car pro reset there is the proof that the coatings is not clogged but in fact not existent. Great video Chelsea!! 🌟🇨🇦

    I made the mistake of having the dealership apply a coating, never again with what I learned over the years, I think if this was my car I would take my loss and have you apply a professional coating, thanks Chelsea 👍😁❤️

    The only problem with going back to the dealership to "re-apply" their "coating" is the fact that the same "detailer" will re-apply "coating" only to have it fail again.... trust me, the dealership will do anything they can to avoid doing that.

    Helpful video. People trust dealships too much. Detailers need to educate the general public more then we are. This video is a good start. Thank you.

    Two weeks ago I had a customer call me and asked me if I could put a coating on their brand new Kia Forte GT. He informed me while he was at the dealership he went ahead and purchased one on their coatings. Needless to say he wasn't happy with it especially since they charged him over $600 for it. He brought the vehicle to me and I actually made a TikTok video showing the difference between a dealerships coating and the coating I use. There was barely any hydrophobics to that coating whatsoever and it didn't even sheet the water off the panels.

      I see it all the time at dealers, they use quick detailers that have an excellent shine and give a life time guarantee. The managers call me to have their car detailed because they know that the stuff they use last for a month, if you are lucky.

    Just had a future customer (booked a coating) say he paid for the simoniz coating on his truck and paid the extra $500 for the coating itself and will have to pay extra for it to be installed. He asked me if I just wanted the coating to play around with it and see if I they just messed up with it failing within 16 months!

    The coating itself isn't half bad. I was given a bottle and put it on a daily driver with proper prep (polish, panel wipe, controled environment) amd it's still on the car two years later. Driver cleans his car properly and it's not super hydrophobic as original. Dealers just wash and wipe

    When we bought our minivan last year I started talking to the sales person how he details his daily driver. Then I learned the dealership runs the car through their car wash and then sprays Torque on the paint and then wipes it down with a towel. Then they spray the whole interior and that is how they protect the car for their five year warranty add on package.

    Im not in the same country. But Simoniz have an Simoniz Online Claim System on their website that someone on another YT Video Commented suggested to try. Instead of not Directly involving the Dealership. Myself working for a 4 manufacture dealership and applying "Dealership" Coatings.
    1. Know the "true" background of where the car is washed and what with. Provide wash reciepts
    2. Timeframe's after the car is sold.
    Upto 3 months - Fair enough. Benefit of the Doubt. 6 months - Somethings going wrong with how the customer is washing their car or Product has failed. 1 Year - No. The customer has failed to report any problem. Even if the product has a miracle 2yr lifespan.

    The Simoniz glass coat is actually a decent coating….the problem is the dealerships never do the prep work. I actually conversed with an employee of one of these such car lots and he said they do apply the coating but they’re told to run the vehicle through the automatic wash on site then apply it and throw some tire shine on & send it on its way. I’ve had many, many customers in my area scammed by dealerships with this type of service. So aggravating. Gives coatings a bad reputation unfortunately. Take care Chelsea!

    Whoa...hold on here...a 1 year old "coating?" Now the client is complaining - a year later? There's a lot of stuff on the market [most?] that doesn't last a full year ESPECIALLY from a dealership. Not to mention how the car is stored and or maintained. I don't want to bash Simoniz [no "e"] but unless they have a professional series for "dealerships" et.al. most of their commercial stuff is well...ummm...fair at best. That being said, what was the guarantee/warrantees [if any] for the coating? What type of "coating" is it? Unfortunately the dealerships prey on the unsuspecting. If I were to start naming names perhaps the name of the dealership should be exposed before accusing Simoniz of failed product. Btw...I still use and offer their paste wax which imho is still an excellent paste wax.

    • @attention2detailswchelsea
      @attention2detailswchelsea  2 роки тому +4

      They purchased a ceramic coating with a 3 yr warranty. I know that most the dealership coatings are more of a warranty vs a quality product but it should have at LEAST lasted a year imo. There was NOTHING there. Customer assumed it was protected and didnt know what a coating should have even looked like.

    • @audieconrad8995
      @audieconrad8995 2 роки тому

      @@attention2detailswchelsea thx for the follow up. It certainly seems that a 3 year coating should be showing at least ok at a year 4 sure. I believe that this is still more of a failure of of the dealership (God I hate them) than Simoniz. Simoniz (Union-Carbide /Kleen-Rite) is a very big and long standing (100 years+) business. Although not the player they once were in the rabbit-hole competitive world of detail car-care they are a giant in floor care and coin-op style car care. I use some of their products some of it fair and some pretty good.
      That being said, from your efforts Chelsea excellent recovery and proper care for that Toyo. I hope your client is gratified and alerts other potentials to stay the hell away from that dealership "prep department." Shine on you crazy diamond.
