I have had 6 GSDs, all from German lines. With Wolfgang, I had to get a 2nd GSD because of my job. But I trained him like crazy and took him everywhere I could, including work, stores and parks. Now I am older, have a young GSD. Right now he is at a cage free dog ranch. He loves to play with other dogs, so that is what he is doing. He also loves to bring me his toys so I will play fetch. What a good boy he is. They do need attention, and as a retired gal, I sure give him my company.
You have to respect their space. It is because they believe they belong to u.
My dog always thinks he belongs to me. Lean on me, talk to me with his lovely eyes, rub on me with his head. See, I am part of him. We are in separateable. We play & work together but do not share with his treats. Poor me!
