There's a little thing called "artistic license". A movie/tv show has to have a beginning, a middle, and an end. Characters get introduced in the beginning, the first conflict appears in the middle and it builds to a climax near the end, then stories get wrapped up at the end. It's a perfect formula for fiction, but real life doesn't always abide by the same formula. Life has a habit of getting in the way, it's random events that just happen to happen to you. And when the biopic's subject goes through something intensely personal, for story purposes it's important to tell the story in the best chronological order and this often requires to move around or fudge some life events simply cuz it won't fit the narrative of the overarching story.

Her son is even more mad bc they didn’t sympathize more like what. While she did the most heinous things, she was showering that boy in luxuries. I would not sympathize with her as she is a murderer. She has blood on her hands from a little boy who was innocent and had nothing to do with his father’s doings.

This series is good, IF you've never heard of her. However, if you know the whole history of the "Black Widow," then this series looks like a PBS Kids documentary compared to the actual events
I hate how the show made her the victim that the men wouldn't work with. She was the problem. She killed her competition when the Ochoa's stopped dealing with her shit. No one attacked her territory and shipments more than Escobar. She was gunned down in the middle of the streets of her own city at 69 the second they found out she was back.
She was a victim though and dealt with sexual violence and misogyny. And that was depicted for a reason. Victims can turn into monsters. She was undeniably a psychopath. But to say that we shouldn’t recognize her as a victim for horrible things that were done to her isn’t right. You can be recognized for victim in one situation, but not in the other.
Everyone is in the comments hating on the show. I really liked it. I honestly don’t watch a ton of drug dealer shows like I guess some people do but I found it intriguing. I watched from start to finish in one evening. It was great to see Sofia in a more complex and dramatic role. I was happy they chose a native speaker. After watching, I spent hours looking up stuff on Griselda and her family on the internet. It always amazes me how there can be truly evil people in the world like this who exist. To be honest I think some of our ceos are like her but just get away with things legally somehow. As someone who gives a lot and tries to help others I can’t comprehend how there are so many people in the world who seek to cause such harm. Also so glad Rebecca did this, I’m always excited whenever I hear her voice at the beginning of a video. Thanks for sharing Watch Mojo
See that's your problem...you didn't know the story before watching the series so you don't get it. Those of us who watched the documentaries yrs ago or listened to her son's real account might not like the series. As the other person said it didn't need to be embellished. Also, this vid stated several inaccuracies too.
yesh she was evil and fact is a lot of facts did not show in this tv show. Why film someones career or life and than change it so weirdly! than just dont make it.
Interesting comment. That is sad but I understand what do you mean. I just don’t like that they bring this to light because a lot of young people will want to be like these bad narcs, which is not a good inspiration. It’s reality of the world, but not an inspiration, you know.

Glorifying a psychopathic serial killer? Hollywood wouldn’t do that! Yeah I won’t watch this show. It disgusts me that people sanitize and give time to criminals that have done so much damage to others.
I loved Sofia as an actor, but they didn't have her playing a villain well. In the show, they tried to paint Griselda's worst moments as being caused by some external force like the patriarchy, and she was just doing what she had to to survive. Or she was in a cocaine induced psychosis. The real Griselda didn't have these excuses, she was an evil human being. Why did they make Sofia's character anything less than that?? My only complaint about the show.
I really don't think that Pablo and Griselda crossed paths that often. Griselda's time was a bit before Pablo, and she was trafficking cocaine in the mid-late 70s. Pablo was still stealing cars at that time.
They didn't...but you know Hollywood and its level of research. And Pablos certainly didn't say he was afraid of her. He actually quoted that he only feared his mother....Hollywood reaching.
Honestly, it was a nice mini series but they could have had another season or two additional episodes. They didn't even cover the 90s while she was still dealing. If you want to hear about that erra the find cocaine cowboys 2. FYI she committed her first homicide by the age of 14.
Looking at the documentaries that were out about her some years ago, I don't feel like they portrayed her ruthless enough as it was told from documentaries of people who actually knew her
I was so thrilled by the storyline that I even went on to research the true events through videos like this one. There's something about a women who is as cunning as men can get. The fact that it is based on a true story made me realize that indeed life imitates art and art imitates life.
I’m sorry the fact they left out Charles Cosby is beyond me and how she ran her business from jail as well or her signature hit style is how she was taken out !! So many parts of her story that was left out and it’s a shame because she was a lot more than the Monster they make her out to be!! Very generous lady when it came to the community and other families but that doesn’t grab the interest of the public
I think they left out a lot, since the show is so short. They could've made more episodes, more intense and detailed, it was too "fast". Did you watch Walking Dead, the last spin-off? I saw it like it.
The show was ok at best… if you really wanna see a great show/movie documentary check out cocaine Cowboys… the Netflix show, played too fast and loose with the characters and events.. like Revie.. Griselda found him not the other way around..
This was not advertised as a documentary or a docudrama so no one should be disappointed . Its BASED on real life events. So for what it was presented as...job well done. Acting on point the intensity and story line well done. I 've watched almost every documentary ,movie and series based on the cartels. when i watch a documentary I'm expecting the closest version of the truth possible. When I'm watching something based on something I'm familiar with or not I'm expecting a good story , good acting and to be entertained. Netflix's Griselda checked all boxes.
I don’t think there was anyway they could have made Sofia unattractive. The only thing they didn’t try is to make her look big. Griselda was heavy set her nickname was Gordita but the show didn’t depict this.
Haven't seen it but I'd like to see someone make a movie about her that is not glamourized and sticks to the facts. Everything I've read and seen about Blanco paints a portrait of a disturbed, horrific psychopath who had no regard for human life except for her kids and even they were sacrificed in some way.
I did NOT like the series because they lied on a lot. She was a cold piece of work and personally one of my favorite Gangstas idc. Somebody need to do her story right. Cocaine cowboys is the best documentary of her
They couldn't find an actress that looked at least a little like Blanco? Sofia looked NOTHING and I mean NOTHING like Blanco. She cud of gained some weight at least. Ok show regardless
They made her way to soft in the show. She was a psychopath with no empathy or remorse. She loved to kill young women and she also shot a pregnant woman in the belly. She was a sadist and they didnt really showed that.
What about Griselda’s last boyfriend, the black man who had complete control over her emotions? And as many have commented, Sofia is too attractive to make her portrayal as Griselda believable.
Classic Netflix, just because she was a woman doesn't mean she must be depicted as a charismatic leader, she was awful, and hella ugly. And of course her opposite power must be a woman, who wasn't qualified for the job, but by the magical power pf womanhood she cracks all the secrets and gets herself a leader position. Nonetheless, the series were worth watching, very cinematic and Sofia did a good job, I hope she gets more serious roles.
When comparing info from other documentaries depicting Griselda and with the netflix story, it was obvious to me that they had a lot of discrepancies within their version of the story.
The season was ok. But fell FAR FAR below narcos level. I felt like they tried to use a more woman empowerment point of view instead of how she actually was. A true savage and brutal person, not to mention a horrible mother. Her ego and drug use led to so many murders. Either way, it was ok. I didn’t hate it or love it. All of the other narco seasons were amazing. IMO they did way too much to humanize her. She had kids killed. Just like Pablo blowing up an airplane.
I knew the story before the show came out, so when I saw it on Netflix I got super excited to watch. Loved the show, but I was just shaking my head at the comments on videos about it after it came out. People were siding with her, feeling sorry and sympathizing with Griselda... because they saw her as Sofia Vergara lmao. This woman is no one to admire or feel sorry for. She was a monster, not a beautiful actress playing a role.
I enjoyed the show. And sophia vergara was excellent in it. I couldnt stop watching it from beginning to end. I just binge watch the whole thing. Could barely work the next day bc i was so sleepy but it was worth it. Very few show pull me in like that. And of course griselda story was quite inspiring bc she never let anyone stop her from getting her dreams. And she rival with the worst of them
Besides the historical inaccuracies and the watered down violence compared to what actually happened, the one thing that really took me out of the show was the fact that they show parties full of Colombians and Cubans in Miami in the 80s and they’re listening to synth pop and new wave instead of salsa
1:27 he didn’t just die in front of him, although Michael did see it after the ambulance came, he got shot while holding him and running. He died bc he tried to save his sons life.
I see a lot of people claiming she was heartless nd how she didn’t care when the little boy died and all this other stuff. Her youngest son Micheal Corleone went on a podcast telling the real story, even went episode by episode Confirming and Debunking scenes. Would 100% recommend
They didn't convey how evil she was . She didn't fo shit for her family . If she car2d abojt her sons she would dent them away. She brought them into the business .
Sofia Vergara delivered a career-defining performance. She revealed a natural-born character performer unlike we've likely seen before from her. Through her performance, she humanized Griselda, and made her feel sympathetic, eliciting conflicting emotions in viewers. Sofia Vergara's performance was like taking a vintage cannon to a knife fight. She snotted the role like a clean crisp line of her character's product.
I watched 2 other docs beforehand. Griselda was so watered down I had to reexamine it. I liked it but knowing how much of the source material they left out, it was a major disappointment
Im currently watching the show and im one Ep 4. One thing I don’t understand so far is how & why she made so much money yet owed so many people and many soo many bad choices even when people told her the right thing. I guess thats how her life was, crazy.
She was a menace to society but she started Pablo and the fact that that is usually washed out of the story is crazy. Cocaine Cowboys tells her story the best.
I don't have any personal thoughts on Griselda (nor i have watched her series) But, this was a great top nonetheless. Have a happy thursday afternoon, Rebecca. Take care and God bless you, greetings from Colombia to you as well.
It’s not a documentary for a reason. It’s a portrayal. I think with a lot of these Netflix shows based off murderers they aim to show their human side; Dahmer, Ted Bundy. You almost can empathize with them, then you remember. Sofia did an extraordinary job as Griselda. They couldn’t make her ugly enough but the acting was superb.
Great video, as always. Slight note, though. There is no DA/District Attorney in Florida. It’s actually the “State Attorney”. Basically, the names of Florida’s court jurisdictions are switched. the lower level is the circuit and the appeals court is the District, so the local prosecutors are call State Attorneys, or we just refer to them as “the State.” Sorry, just a pet peeve of mine that movies do all the time.
Real sociopath and monster who lived quite long and wealthy considering how many people she killed . Sacrificing her own children , proves how emotionless she was ! I can’t believe what kind of people wanted to work for her and be close to her when it’s clear the she was unpredictable and ruthless!

Sofia KILLED that performance. I know it was fabricated but drama wise she did a great job
Nah. She was awful in this.
she was great @@willyesco25
Watch Catherine Zeta Jones as Griselda.
@@sherinnekayraanderson Catherine WISHES she had one third of the talent Sophia displayed here
She really did an incredible job. Amazing actress for sure. Wasn’t it supposed to be JLo at first? I’m glad they went with Sofia
Great show!! The acting was stellar!! Hollywood never makes super accurate but what else is new? Sofia deserves an award for this portrayal
The biggest issue I had with the series is it depicted Blanco as a victim. She was far from ever being a victim.
Hate inaccurate movies on someone’s life.
They always get rid of the family members and get false info that fits Hollywood narrative
People are hating on the fact that they embellished a lot of the story when they could’ve just said how everything happened as it did
See that's your problem...you didn't know the story before watching the series so you don't get it. Those of us who watched the documentaries yrs ago or listened to her son's real account might not like the series. As the other person said it didn't need to be embellished. Also, this vid stated several inaccuracies too.
Sorry, Sofia was terrible. The cigarettes showed more range.
yesh she was evil and fact is a lot of facts did not show in this tv show. Why film someones career or life and than change it so weirdly! than just dont make it.
I guess in your case ignorance is bliss
As a colombian i am proud of Sofia showing the world how dark colombiana past was.
Interesting comment. That is sad but I understand what do you mean. I just don’t like that they bring this to light because a lot of young people will want to be like these bad narcs, which is not a good inspiration. It’s reality of the world, but not an inspiration, you know.
@@bluewhale2600 Why do people like you want everything to be rainbows and sunshine? There is very dark history as well, why hide it? Let people know those stories too, instead of pretending they don't exist at all.
Was?
She’s a great actress but the series wasn’t that good at all. Maybe a 2 if that out of 4 stars
@@bluewhale2600😂😂😂 we all know where drug cartels came from . Also you know cartels still are but in that area .
They definitely got the appearance wrong😂
Lol!!!
RIVI was actually scared of Griselda
LOVED this show and really hope Sofia is nominated for her role.
Nah
I don’t understand why Hollywood would cast a beautiful actress to portray her , even heard J-Lo was playing her or wanted to or whatever, Griselda wasn’t an attractive woman and though she had money and materials there was absolutely nothing glamorous about her at All, that’s why documentaries are better than movies because you just get facts not creative licensing!
Can we still say what's attractive or not? I agree with you, but these days, it's crazy to say one woman looks more attractive than another. Truth is hurtful, and this type of thinking is toxic, right?
let me guess, you think you know how she looked because you found some old pictures online from her when she was +50yr
@@check2000Not at all Fanboy! I have eyes and IMO I deduced she wasn’t very attractive and it’s also been documented she was no head turner, and the fact that I feel she wasn’t very attractive isn’t a knock against her it’s more criticism of the inaccuracies of movies having to over exaggerate in order to sell a movie, her story is interesting enough without embellishments!
@@rootcause7662Miss me with your BS P.C far left rhetoric, anyone not playing step-n-fetch it to the Alphabet community is considered toxic! Whatever 🙄

Catherine Zeta Jones did A FABULOUS job in Cocaine Godmother. EXCELLENT!!
This. I watched that movie like 20 times. Compared to this version doesnt even compete
I don’t like a British white woman playing a Colombian
Yes that was a cold add movie 🎥 it’s so good
Yes, I just watched it and she killed it, no pun intended.
Imagine asking this woman what's your body count? Lmfao
What’s funny here is that she killed my men she slept with so both her body counts sometimes align
'Both" were high :)
hahahahahah
The documentary "Cocaine Cowboys" has all of this info! 💯
Cocaine Cowboys 2 as well.
Reloaded
Her sudden change of accent is always hilarious to me 😂
They either glorified her or maybe gave the perspective of how Griselda thought of herself.
Hollywood doesn’t want women depicted as bad 😩🙄 this woke shit.. like why is the villain always white and gay people always good or funny? Same story
Watching it now , so annoying
Cocaine induced psychosis is very real though. Especially considering most of these people would be on that shit daily. It really fucks up your mind.
Both can't be true?
I really don't think that Pablo and Griselda crossed paths that often. Griselda's time was a bit before Pablo, and she was trafficking cocaine in the mid-late 70s. Pablo was still stealing cars at that time.
They didn't...but you know Hollywood and its level of research. And Pablos certainly didn't say he was afraid of her. He actually quoted that he only feared his mother....Hollywood reaching.
Pablo was big time into coke by 76 as this was his first big arrest for coke
I believe she put him in the drug trade, he very quickly overtook her in the game.
Pablo had her son killed....
Watch her son Michael’s interview w. DjVlad
Honestly, it was a nice mini series but they could have had another season or two additional episodes. They didn't even cover the 90s while she was still dealing. If you want to hear about that erra the find cocaine cowboys 2. FYI she committed her first homicide by the age of 14.
I thought it was 11, she kidnapped that kid? Was it 14?
The documentaries say she was 11
Actually 11
She was 11. The kid she killed was 10.
She portrayed the monster with love and respect. Who needs it? Definitely not me.
Sofia crushed this performance and definitely deserves an award
Nah. She was awful in this.
Michelle I feel a woke supporter in your words
she doesnt look scary at all
Looking at the documentaries that were out about her some years ago, I don't feel like they portrayed her ruthless enough as it was told from documentaries of people who actually knew her
Can we talk about how they said the cop KISSED her????
I enjoyed the series. I don't really think accuracy was that important. It's not a docu-series
The show was ok at best… if you really wanna see a great show/movie documentary check out cocaine Cowboys… the Netflix show, played too fast and loose with the characters and events.. like Revie.. Griselda found him not the other way around..
^^this! drove me nuts how Rivi was portrayed
And she hired Darío, he wasn’t working for her husband’s brother.
They got nothing but names right
This was not advertised as a documentary or a docudrama so no one should be disappointed .
I loved it ❤ Sophia Vergara is amazing 👏 now I plan on reading the book 📖
10:48 it’s not dixon it was uber dario was told to kill after he tried to defend his mother
The father didn’t kidnap his son from a dangerous life. The father saved his son from a deadly lifestyle. Men need rights‼️
Although they tried to make her unattractive; the move made her attractive..respectfully.
I thought the same thing
I don’t think there was anyway they could have made Sofia unattractive. The only thing they didn’t try is to make her look big. Griselda was heavy set her nickname was Gordita but the show didn’t depict this.
@@ivillasenor2829I doubt anyone called her Gordita to her face
@@SleepNaked-mk9nu her son did. He’s had many interviews calling her this.

One MAJOR thing they got wrong is not casting Melissa McCarthy for the Griselda role.
LMAOOOO sucks she cant act a colombia accent lol
Griselda was a REAL MONSTER this was a joke!! Sofias acting was too soft to represent the kind of EVEL she was.
So basically the whole damn show was a bunch of lies. That's Hollywood for you. 🙄
Sophia was absolutely stunning in this role
Super interesting report after watching the show thanks so much .
It was no mention of Charles Crosby at all
Haven't seen it but I'd like to see someone make a movie about her that is not glamourized and sticks to the facts.
It was great loved it!!!!
I liked it very much!
2:51 she wasn’t released due to her health, she served until the time she was set to be released.
You took a true story and turned it into a fantasy... Good Job.
Netflix made a "Disney Star Wars" Madrina. Narcos was way Closer to reality.
I am Excited For This Series.
actress did it Great 👍🏻 Job.
And she rival with the worst of them
She was a fucking monster and killed hundreds of people. How the fuck is that inspiring? That's sick.
Omg. Same 😂
Besides the historical inaccuracies and the watered down violence compared to what actually happened, the one thing that really took me out of the show was the fact that they show parties full of Colombians and Cubans in Miami in the 80s and they’re listening to synth pop and new wave instead of salsa
Movies about "true" stories change so many details it alters the actual history. Makes no sense.
Damn they embellished alot.... Especially the Hawkin involvement.
1:27 he didn’t just die in front of him, although Michael did see it after the ambulance came, he got shot while holding him and running. He died bc he tried to save his sons life.
Very good series...!
Seems like there’s more inaccurate scenes then factual events in this series.
I see a lot of people claiming she was heartless nd how she didn’t care when the little boy died and all this other stuff. Her youngest son Micheal Corleone went on a podcast telling the real story, even went episode by episode Confirming and Debunking scenes. Would 100% recommend
She was implicated in over 200 murders and you believe her POS son, who glorifies her activities and is a convicted felon himself.
Haven't watch it yet, Been told there's no mention of Charles Cosby in this series? He was her only lover she did not kill.
because he got lucky she got arrested
They didn't convey how evil she was . She didn't fo shit for her family . If she car2d abojt her sons she would dent them away. She brought them into the business .
Sofia Vergara delivered a career-defining performance. She revealed a natural-born character performer unlike we've likely seen before from her. Through her performance, she humanized Griselda, and made her feel sympathetic, eliciting conflicting emotions in viewers. Sofia Vergara's performance was like taking a vintage cannon to a knife fight. She snotted the role like a clean crisp line of her character's product.
What... 🤔?
I watched 2 other docs beforehand. Griselda was so watered down I had to reexamine it. I liked it but knowing how much of the source material they left out, it was a major disappointment
Right or wrong it’s a tv show… but it definitely grab attention for a lot of us..the tv show was amazing
Sofia Vergara did an amazing job!!! I didnt even realize it was her at first! Her transformation was
shocking!
