There's something about TaQ's percussion rhythm being timeless even tho the drums and everything used clearly show the age I'll be listening to a lot of trance and techno songs even from today and a lot of songs still fit in with 2023
uploading the full album in one video is one thing, but adding the appropriate BGA for each track instead of just using the album art or generic footage? major props
It's not a rave if it's just the same lights over and over for an hour Took a while going back and forth finding the correct BGAs and trying to figure out which IIDX generic BGA is used for each song, but it was entirely worth it
I got into a TaQ phase back a while back in 2021 and ended up listening to bounce connected daily. I figured to at least stitch this mix together and make it look a little snazzy using IIDX BGAs. I hear he makes a lot of orchestral stuff nowadays, but if I ever see ongaq in IIDX 30th or something, I'm gonna lose it. Honestly, I wish I coulda upscaled the thing though, but the BGAs were mostly (if not only) in 240p. Glad you enjoyed this mix though! Edit: No ongaq in IIDX30 D:
@@ShiosamaYou know the video still looks great to this day. It’s clearly smoothed out but it’s the type of stuff I imagine seeing on a projector screen in a dark venue a la boiler room. It kinda works
@@ichigokurosaki6307Aw shucks my fellow technohead! I tend to lean towards minimalism with my editing, and I was really going for a “play and toss aside in the background” for this one in 2022. I do have an unlisted video of the album visuals without the text, so I might toss that in the description today. I didn’t expect there to be this many people into TaQ, so I think I’ll do that as a milestone.
I learned about this album from the old BemaniStyle simfile archive (RIP), because of the PARANOiA remix. So many banger songs on this album. This is bringing back memories. Oh, and excellent work on the video editing.
Thanks for the compliment! The PARANOiA remix had a certain energy to it which really drew me to appreciate old school trance and rave songs, topped off with the jungle mixes UA-cam's been recommending me lately. It's crazy to think so many techno and trance elements are STILL used today, hopefully Taku-san will make some trance with his insane percussion from back then. Hopefully my future audio/visual mixes will be just as good, as I have a summer and sky themed one coming soon.
@@Shiosama I'm surprised he's still around and still making music. In my head he kinda dropped off the face of the earth after he released ongaq:stromatolite
He moved on to orchestral music after a while as Ongaq (which is pronounced almost like taq, as Ongaku, wordplay for music iirc). I think he actually came back to Bemani for its orchestral mixes, composing classical version of the most popular Bemani tracks. Taq actually made an appearance in Diverse System's "RADIAL" in 2015/16 ua-cam.com/video/tCkxUKevJ14/v-deo.html For the most part, it's safe to say we might see some music from him in the future, but he and Taka have been producing for a LONG while, so I'm hoping to hear the two drop the hardest techno song in existence. They were actually in some kind of prog-rock band in the 80s/90s before they went with Konmai (I spelt that right don't worry).
Man I used to have mp3’s of both TaQ albums and loads of other Bemani artists projects..!Many years and machines later these seem to be lost to time. Anybody know where to find this stuff online these days? I used to be on outphase/bemanistyle and dont I remember there being an invite only bemani tracker too? Can’t remember where I got my arcade rips from. It’s been too long now, I’m not sure.. but man if anyone could point me towards any archives or trackers of bemani artists or other jcore stuff that would be tiiiiits :o
Welllll here isn’t a good place to talk about that because of big brother konmai, however I can hint you towards a site regarding style of doujin and si of nyaa. Flip those around and you might get what you’re looking for, friend!
@@Shiosama lol I gotcha. Thanks for the tip though, I do frequent that one :) Unfortunately the Bemani stuff is still quite hard to find but it’s a great place nonetheless
Thanks a lot! I got wayy too addicted to DXY! and stoic since TaQ's got some of the most complex rhythms that equate to hell in early IIDX, so I thought to find any long versions of the two. I found out that this album was basically a huge recording of one of his concerts with dj TAKA back in 2003-2004(?), which answers why the actual CD has a lot of the songs abruptly cut in and out. I figured I'd at least do a favour and stitch it all together.
this is actually one of the best videos on youtube. holy SHIT i love taQ even two decades after this album came out
