  • In this VLOG I go on a little shopping excursion to Costco, ToyRus, and Home Depot and pick up some things along the way! For the most part, I was "future" shopping for the new studio... I am so excited about these changes I can hardly stand it!! I don't know what is more exciting - the LEGO or the studio-related items!

    As a person who does woodworking for their main hobby, I would advise you to look into getting a track saw instead of a table saw for your purposes.

      Agreed. If the goal is tables or even shelving, a good track saw for sheet goods and a miter saw for legs or smaller goods would be sufficient.

    For cutting plywood or melamine sheets i would suggest getting a track saw instead of a table saw. They are easier to use and get a straight clean cut. They also take a lot less a lot less space and are safer. Also they are cheaper!

    Take photos of the shelves as they are. And pack all the mini figures in sandwich bags (as you were planning to do.)Then refer to the photos to see where they go.

    I remember that Mr. Bookieboo, another Lego UA-camr, packed a lot of his modular sets and other sets in Bankers Boxes and labeled them. Of course, not everything fit in them, but it helped him to keep a lot of his city and collection in good shape during the move and easy to organize at his new house.
    On another note, your children are precious. I love how Millie brought Benjamin his hat to get ready to go out. Sorry to hear that Mrs. Bricksie is sick. I hope that she recovers quickly.

    For the minifigures, accessories and so on: wrap them in the plastic wraps, the transparent ones... you could simply stick them around modulars, vehicles and so on. Also you won't lose any piece and you can move around more starships together!

    For the mini figures with the sets, definitely put them in a ziplock bag and then use the blue painters tape and wrap it around the biggest part of the set. This way you won't have to deal with glue from the tape left behind and it stays with the set to unpack easily. We use that tape for everything around here. Even marking frozen dinners....lol

    Those Koda LED shop lights are great. I installed a couple rows of them over my city for primary lighting. Great light spread, even with all my skyscrapers. Also have two of them over my build area. Costco has put them on sale for $29.99 in the past, so you might get a deal if you stalk them for a few months.

    Just one or two suggestions, you have a great amount of lego, ever considered doing videos on those retired ones, e.g series on speed champions, ideas, castles etc, what are your likes/dislikes, fun to play with, or worth the money etc. Perhaps another series on cool MOCs to those retired sets that you have.

    At least here in the States, Home Depot has Ryobi tools. They have both a small, portable shop vac, and an inflator/ deflator that use the same 18v battery. I own both and love them. I feel like they are great alternatives to Milwaukee and Dewalt tools for the money, and for most people who don’t use their tools on a daily basis to earn their living. Anyway, love the vlog and can’t wait to see all the upcoming videos on the move and new studio!

    Every time you mention the warehouse i think of the mechanics place you showed us ages ago and I keep thinking you have so much cleaning to do before you move in but I know that can't be it and that it must be already able to move straight into.
    If it was me I would get a couple of new Billy bookcases and install them first then you could move stuff straight onto shelves then bring over the newly empty shelves from home followed by more display Lego. Just a thought, I always try to only move things once when rearranging. Well that's the plan I start with anyway.

Happy to watch anything you want to show us i really like seeing the kids and seeing your internal turmoil at the check out line. Breaking in like that would trigger the cameras, alerting Jordan & alarms contact the police, putting the crooks on a short timer. @@Bricksie why “flatten” them?

    • @Bricksie
      @Bricksie  8 місяців тому

      @stevet7642 so they all have a nice smooth edge, take out any curve/imperfections, and the sheets on top sit level. You shave like 1/8 of an inch off the top and bottom of the board with a table saw

    • @stevet7642
      @stevet7642 8 місяців тому

      @@Bricksie a table saw doesn’t really do that. You can take the rounded bit off but that doesn’t really impact the straightness. To properly mill a board flat and square you need a jointer and planer. Or you’re better off using something manufactured with a true straight edge.
      If you have a bowed or crowned 2x4 and run it through a table saw referencing the fence, you’ll get a flat face with out the round over but you’ll still have the crown or bow. You’re talking finish/furniture carpentry when good lumber selection is likely enough.

    • @Bricksie
      @Bricksie  8 місяців тому

      @stevet7642 Well, Stingbricks and I built my current table setup in his shop using this method, and it really worked out quite well. We picked straight 2x6s and took the rounded edges off using a table saw. I understand that there are more qualified people and tools for specific jobs, and there are always better ways of doing things, but I'm sure I'll figure it all out in the end.
