Another poorly executed oiling! Soon I'll do an experiment with the jewels for the ports(011142 and 011123), but you should do an experiment with with Seiko S-2 or S-3 grease in the mainspring barrel and Seiko S-4 grease for the center wheel, mainspring arbor ports and the automatic assembly as shown in the Seiko Tech Guide for cal 61XX except Grand Seiko V.F.A. Series. Also, that barrel for the main spring is almost split open on the top........................
Orlin Rusev I’m not sure who you are or why you are trolling me. Would you please explain why you consider the oiling to be poorly executed? You’ll also notice I mention in the video to ‘please excuse any messy oiling as I am doing this on camera and can’t get close.’ Also, what evidence do you have that the barrel is nearly ‘split’? I’m very intrigued.
I want to apologize. I'm not trolling you or trying to offend you at all. As poorly executed oiling I ment "wrong" types of oils not recommended by manufacturer.
Orlin Rusev Seiko S4 is nearly impossible to come by and the generally accepted substitute for S4 grease is HP1000 or HP1300. You will note that is what I am using in the video. Also, you have no way of knowing, and therefore criticizing what lubricant I am using inside the barrel as that is not mentioned in this video. You still haven’t addressed the split barrel. I’m assuming you are referring to the scratch in the barrel lid. Rest assured. Just a scratch on an old watch. Not split. So excuse my concern, but this seems an awful lot like trolling in my opinion.
I checked and the correct substitute for Seiko S-4 by manufacturer is Moebius grease "Remontoires". Not sure if it's Moebius 9501 or 9504. About the mainspring barrel, around the wear spot there is a weld or solder joint. Ones I saw visible separation between the teeth ring and the lid of the barrel and I usually discard barrels with similar wear as the one shown in the clip.
Orlin Rusev 9501 and 9504 are metal to metal greases. We have installed jewels in this barrel and the watch now requires HP1300. That is the correct equivalent. I have no idea what you are talking about a ‘weld spot’ on the barrel. You aren’t really making any sense and the barrel in the video is fine.
Beautiful job my friend
