  • Despite it's age (1991), and some minor, easily overcome, "challenges", this kit from Emhar, still produces a reasonable rendition of a British WWI, Mk IV, "Landship", and, with the addition of some After Market machine guns, to improve the overall look, was a really nice, easy, kit to build, with good future potential for a WWI Diorama setting.

    Hope you enjoy this build video, as much as I enjoyed building the kit.

    Nice job there Pete. That looks a good kit to practise paint and weathering techniques on. Thanks for sharing. Cheers Bob 👍

      Thanks mate. One of the reasons why I liked it. An easy build, with large flat areas. Fully agree this is one of those kits that is ideal for practicing on. Cheers!

    Built one of these up to convert to a 40K landraider definitely had some of the similar issues you had Will be using your solutions when I build up my second one as a straight-up mark iv. The tracks were a nightmare luckily I found an STL online print up each track segment individually.

      Nice. Yep, she did have some issues, but overall, she turned out okay, and she's still one of my favourites on the shelf. Cheers!

    Lovely result Pete, truly good build and paint job.
    I have just bought myself one of these, but the "female" version. The machine guns you apparently have issues with are Hotchkiss MGs, which *were* fitted to this tank, as the Lewis guns used to overheat and jam if used for sustained fire, so while there's nothing "wrong" with the aftermarket barrels you bought, you didn't actually need to, but each to their own etc.

      Hi mate, glad you liked the build. One of my favourites. Really turned out nice. As for the MG's. The Emhar "Blobs" could have been meant to be Hotchkiss MG's. At the time I think I was 50/50 whether they were Lewis or Hotchkiss Mg's. But they were just crude and cried out to be replaced, and I know the Lewis guns were replaced in 1917, with the Hotchkiss. I had thought about using AM Hotchkiss guns, but could only find the Aber WW1 Lewis guns, at the time, so went with them, since most of my reference photos showed Mk IV's with the Lewis, anyway. And I think they worked well in the final result. Cheers!

    Hi Pete, great job on the Mark IV. The paint and weathering look fantastic. I have had this kit and the Tadpole for years. I have never built them. After seeing your's, I'm going to have to get them out of the stash and put them together. What kind of glue did you use on the tracks? I really like the Lewis guns, thanks for the tip. Thanks for sharing. Have a great day. Jeff

      Hi Jeff. Glad you liked the video. I just used my regular Revell contact cement on the tracks. Seemed to work fine. Because it dries slower than my Tamiya Thin, I always use it for things like tracks, etc. that you know will have to be adjusted slightly into place. The Lewis Guns are a must. Emhar's are just blobs. Have a good one yourself! Cheers!

    Beautiful work Pete, what a beast! do you reckon that preshading work when you brush paint? I'm too scared to try it out.

    • @PetesKits
      @PetesKits  2 роки тому +1

      Thanks. I think pre-shading would work with a brush, although it might take some practice. You would just have to dilute your paint down to almost a wash consistency. I use plastic spoons (if you can get them) or large parts from my spares box, to practice with. But, yeah, it should be possible. Cheers!

    Nice build but your problem at the back was because you put it on wrong. Check the drawing again, you sat it on top not on top of the notch. Not trying to be a knob I just did the same when I boult mine and noticed you doing it. 😀😀
    Cheers Rich.

      Hi mate. Just re-watched the video, and, yeah, I see what you mean. Got that one wrong. Doh ! Thanks for letting me know. I don't mind when people let me know I got something wrong. It's all part of life's learning curve. Cheers! Have a great 2023!

      I picked mine up from Ebay. They aren't specifically for the Emhar kit, but you can still use them. Got mine by typing in 1/35 Aber male (or female). Cheers!
